Human Smuggling Operation: Laredo, Texas

In February, DPS’ Criminal Investigations Division, in conjunction with U.S. Border Patrol, successfully interrupted and prevented four instances of human smuggling in Webb County. The criminal organizations involved in this human smuggling operation were using commercial vehicles for their illegal activity. As a result of law enforcement’s actions, five individuals were arrested and charged with smuggling of persons, and 36 migrants from Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala were recovered and referred to U.S. Border Patrol.
