  • Desktop Mode testing: This is a raw recording using the OBS Studio Flatpak, the Steam Deck internal microphone, and a Logitech Brio webcam. All "out-of-box" settings. No gain or filters were applied while recording or during editing. Edited with Kdenlive. Seems to be a bit of clipping in the audio.

    Using easy effects to suppress that fan should make it sound very solid!

    That sounds really good for such a small device. It has a little background noise.

  • @Henk717
    @Henk717 Před 2 lety +20

    If it wasn't for the high amount of background noise in the background this would make for an excellent microphone.

      the background is the fan from the steam deck... can probably suppress it.

    Why not plug in a cheap usb mic such as the Razor one or Elgato Wave?
    Also even a half decent headset such as the steelseries built in mic? 🤔

      It's an OpenSource video editor. It's similar to Premiere Pro. It's not super advanced, but you can do a lot of things, chroma keys, masks, it even has tracking capabilities (like, to censor a moving car's license plate). Also, it has the benefit of being free and it's constantly evolving and improving.

  • @yuh9157
    @yuh9157 Před rokem

    lol as someone who started with a blue yeti and updated over time to an sm7b this mic is comparable to USB mics, all you need is a noise gate for the fan, also the deck has another mic with noise cancelation but the quality isn't as good since the filter distorts the voice so it's better to use an external noise gate like the one in obs

    Interesting. Thank you, would you happen to have tested using it for streaming. I don't think as a full Gaming + Streaming but more as a mobile Streaming PC thing? edit: typo

      @LinuxForEveryone  Před 2 lety +4

      I haven't tested streaming of any kind yet. I think your assumption is right though; Deck's just not built for demanding gaming + streaming, but less intensive titles? Mayyyyybe.

    • @LinuxForEveryone
      @LinuxForEveryone  Před 2 lety +11

      It sounds loud because the mic and fan are on the same device within an inch of each other. But to MY ears at a normal playing/working distance, it's barely audible.

  • @ActionGamerAaron
    @ActionGamerAaron Před rokem

    I will probably use an external mic, maybe even the webcam's built-in. Only reason I say this is because it's definitely picking up white noise from the Deck's fan. Now imagine recording with an actual game, it's going to be unignorable.

      @Dracossaint Před 2 lety +1

      If you're talking about the steam pal UI thing, it's pretty decent. But definitely not the full experience, Give it a bit longer.
      For instance when buying a game, you can't just go back to your cart (there's no button for it) you have to add a new game to the cart in order to access it. There's no option to set your default view screen, if you have a controller and you go to steam input you have to click refresh before you can change any settings (ie like swapping the buttons on a pro controller to match control glyphs). The new overlay doesn't work for it yet and sometimes ya have to alt tab to get into the game after you launch it.
