- A video showing how you can use OBS to record gameplay on the Steam Deck without using anything else so you can record anywhere. I searched for videos, tutorials, or information on how to do this and I didn't find anything really explaining it and since the Steam Deck is Linux based, OBS seems different than the Windows version. Hopefully this video shows a simple way that anyone can replicate to record gameplay on the Steam Deck without any additional software, hardware, or using another device. If these videos are helpful, please Like, Subscribe, and Leave Comments. Thanks and Happy Gaming!

THANK YOU. You took time out of your life to make and post this and that is awesome. Have a great day, sir!
You sir... Are a goddamn legend!! Thank you so much! 👍👍👍👍👊
I’m glad it helped. I only used OBS once on the Steam Deck so I’m glad to hear it still works.
@@zombiekidzrule I was about to give up entirely. I search for DAYS to find a fix for this.
Nice 👍
Thank you so much for this! 💕💕
I have a question, have you managed to start/stop the recording while in game? I have tried configurating the key shortcuts but nothing happens if I'm in the game, will have to keep trying
Unfortunately, no. I literally only tested recording from the desktop. I always record externally for the Steam Deck.
Hi there, thank you for this video! Does it work the same way with streaming? If my account is linked in OBS, can I just start streaming? Does it still require external hardware? TY.
Hello. I was searching for this. Thank you.
Right now i downloaded it on my steam deck and doing some research.
For your black spaces to each sides. Did you try this?
Right clic on the canva= preview scaling and scale to window.
CZcams video are 16:9 so i gues you have to set this before that
Thanks for that suggestion! I will give it a try. I am still trying to get my first video of actual game play. It takes some trial and error before it gets easier. Good luck!
As a follow up, I have been trying to record videos all weekend using this method and I haven't been successful. I am sure it is the games I am trying to record, but they play fine in Gaming Mode, but have problems when launched from the desktop. So this might not be a good, consistent solution for recording Steam Deck game play. Guess I will keep looking for alternatives.
What recording settings did you set it to? As i want to stream games to the deck with moonlight and record at 1440p 120 fps, or even record just 60 fps, but the recordings are lagging as all balls. Cpu and gpu usage was barely 20% each, and still gave like 10 fps.
seeing as nvidia is incapable of gamestream and shadowplay at the same time, i have to resort to deck recording lol.
Sorry for my delayed response. I honestly can't remember. I don't recall changing anything. I don't change the settings on my Steam Deck usually.
