Why Does France Produce So Much Talent?! | Explained

  • Hello and welcome back to EFD Explains where today we are analyzing why France produces so much talent.
They swept to their 2nd World Cup triumph in 2018 with a squad containing the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Paul Pogba and Antoine Griezmann, whilst their U21 side could rival most nations on earth. What role did post WW2 immigration, Paris suburbs and the development of youth facilities such as Clairefontaine have on creating the world’s Premier football nation?
With Ligue 1 increasingly competitive not only domestically but in Europe, and PSG leading a domestic revolution that has seen major stars such as Angel Di Maria and Neymar arrive there and Kylian Mbappe continue his development in the country, we ask how did Ligue 1 turn it around?

Seeing a whole lot of ignorant comments man. Yes a lot of these players are descendants of Africa. However at the same time they were all born and nurtured in France. Therefore this a valid question. The answer is France when it comes to football is inclusive, especially Paris, you don’t have to pay for pitches. You play all day, you can play anywhere and teams are not afraid to go into poor areas to find the talent.

You are right, but half of the players were actually born in an African country. Those countries have the same football culture as European countries, just unfortunately less budget. I wouldn’t give France all the credit because some players could’ve just chosen another country to play for. So it’s not like all of these good players became good only because they played in France. An example is Aubameyang. He could have chosen Spain or France, but decided to play for his family’s country.

I wouldnt say that though considering the majority of immigrants that came to the UK, came from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Jamaica whereas the immigrants who went to France came from North and West Africa, the immigrants who went to UK dont come from football playing countries, whereas the ones who came from France do come from it.
However, if you look at the younger youth players from England now, you'll see the huge rise in players whos parents come from countries in Africa, as they come from more recent immigration in 90s and 00s
But its also because of the French system is also very good, as children are always near football pitches and France doesnt discriminate as much as other countries on who gets trained and selected based on them being ethnically French.

The biggest difference I’d say is that in our banlieues there is always a pitch around that is practicable and free, municipalities as well organise for free every week schedule to get inside pitches for FREE (I repeat it as it’s very important). The culture like in Netherlands is very technical we like tricks and pass our opponents with style. We have FFF (Federation Française de Football) that organize and schedule all the youth and adult amateurs leagues with license for amateurs clubs in every cities of France (government regulated) not a mummy organised league, which I found crazy in this country (England) of football. What is the 3 lions doing with the money they don’t invest in the children’s clubs league 😮 ? Insane !! Or, aucun n'a jamais atteint ne serait-ce qu'une demi-finale. Ce n'est donc pas l'origine qui fait le champion mais la façon dont le joueur est formé. Argentina is a mess, Brazil haven't beat an european team in the knockout stages of a world cup in 20 years, Germany are in the decline, Spain's golden generation is long gone. England are chokers and Belgium's golden generation time is running out, they'll leave the scene by 2022 (and trophyless). Only Portugal can match them but only for the Euros, Portugal are notorious world cup underachievers. Only applying the "Pelé rules" to Mbappe will stop them and that's not guaranteed (worked in 1966 but not in 1962 for Brazil's opponents).

France is a country of immigration. Each generation, each french team were made with players from different migrants waves. In the 1980’s, would you have complained about the presence of immigrant children like Platini, Fernandez, Lopez, Genghini? Or in the 1950s, Kopa, Piantoni, Wisnieski? For Pelé, the best player was playing for France and was called Ben Barek. This is not yesterday. There have always been children of migrants in the France team and that did not mean that they won. Look, the same team is losing to the euro. So, if we follow your logic, France wins thanks to Africa and she would also lose because of Africa. The results already contradict what you think. No need to prove it to you.
If not, do you think the same for the other teams? Messi or Maradona or Heinze are not really names of the indigenous peoples of Argentina. And did you know that in 2018 France only had 2 players born outside its borders, much less than countries like Spain(3), Portugal(7), Croatia(3), Serbia(4), Switzerland(7) or Morocco(19). Laporte is no different. He is French. One of his grand parents is spanish (pais vasco/pays basque) and that's all he needed. He just wasn't chosen by Deschamps after all these years and thus chose to play for a more generous team => Spain. At the end of the Day, even the most patriotic players also want to play at high level, play the Euro, the WC, the Acn or the Copa America and lots of them chose another nation just to be able to play instead of waiting years for nothing waiting for a call from the French Coach. The vast majority of their players were born in France, and all of them grew up in France, developed their footballing skills in French academies and on French football pitches. How are these players, who’ve spent most if not all of their lives in France, not French, or at least not a result of France’s push for youth development?

Argentina is a country made of European settlers and Brazil is a nation made of everyone and you got the cheeks to say our team is not French. The players were born in France they are French. Based on your racist approach Argentina and Brazil should only be composed of native Americans
