These companies and governments forget that it is us, the people who have the power. And that is why the world has been thrown into choas, a smoke screen to blind us while they sieze power... but more and more people are beginning to realise
I know what you’re saying but like most things , it ain’t quite that simple. I will agree that warming is more conducive for life in general than cooling. 👍
In principle what you’re saying is true. But it’s all about balance. There are about 10 times as many people walking on the face of the earth as there were in the 19th century and we drive cars which we didn’t at the time, we fly, we have our products shipped in from China, we eat meat, and all the animals we keep to produce this meat far outnumber us in wealthy nations. All of this produces CO2. Meanwhile, the natural world is shrinking. We cut down trees in the Amazon so we can use it essentially for the production of the meat we eat. This has shifted the balance between the conversion of CO2 to O2 by plants vs the conversion of O2 to CO2 by humans and other animals.

It's the same with co2, the world is a fairly robust system... it used to be a balanced one. And if the greenhouse gasses we'd put into the atmosphere had happened over a couple of hundred thousand years rather than a couple of hundred, it would probably have maintained that balance. That’s the problem with humanity… Nobody thinks about the consequences of their actions. I think this man may have taken that that scenario from a movie called “The Box” and switched it up a bit. In any case, a quick triggered action that is decided upon without a second thought, which brings happiness to one’s self can easily bring great sadness and even destroy the lives of so many other people . This is not being said as a heartless man, just a guy who sees the big picture. No, I have not experienced the loss of a child, and for that I am extremely blessed and thankful for not having to endure the pain of that loss for the rest of my life. Yes, it is guaranteed that I would hit that button to save the life of any of my children, however, in real life, there are no buttons… we get what is in store for us, and we must continue our lives being blessed with the good, and in spite of the bad. It’s time that we took a look at the big picture, and fixed what’s wrong, and stopped living in this fairytale adventure that will never come true and certainly won’t have a happy ending.
Have u seen the whole speech? Out of context it doesn't work...his wider point was asking young people to use their education and privilege to come up with ways to alleviate climate change rather than the 'just stop oil' narrative as asking the developing world to not use oil is seriously deluded...the west made its fortunes on the back of carbon yet once we are comfortably rich enough we expect to deny poor countries the opportunity to emulate us...whatever the moral issues are he is simply stating that starving people are going to use oil until every last drop is gone so deal with the reality rather than crying about what could be from your first world privilege
Why are these two things mutually exclusive. Stupid has no specific political or ideological affiliation. just because someone says something with authority doesn't make it smart.

@@ladywesker5307how is that a bad analogy. The choice is similarly binary. Stay in poverty and accept the corresponding risks of starvation and disease.
Or pollute your way out of poverty by industrialising.
A volcano puts out more co2 in a day, then the US dose in a year.
Thats natural. No need to unbalance it.
So... a company has 3.5 billion a year in earnings, and 3.6 billion a year in expenses.
That company is 100mil in the shitter every year, you have to cut costs where you can.
You can't reduce the rents, or the cost of the machines, you still need to pay the staff to produce the products.
But you don't need to reduce your expenses by much... just get them down below the income, so you can change what you can change at the margins.
It's the same with co2, the world is a fairly robust system... it used to be a balanced one.
And if the greenhouse gasses we'd put into the atmosphere had happened over a couple of hundred thousand years rather than a couple of hundred, it would probably have maintained that balance.
But it's isn't, and we can do something about "man made co2", we can't do much about the sources which have been releasing co2 for a billion years.
It's not in contention any more (and hasn't been outside of politics for 40 years), climate change is real, and man made... and preventable.
Not having children, or letting them die unnecessary is not a reasonable response to climate change... but we can sure as hell work to change that button to release less co2.
Not to mention... that that co2 releasing button is literally killing children all over the world, in counties where they don't have buttons of their own. I don't think people should be expecting to sacrifice their own children's health and well being for those of others... but if we don't convince out politicians that we really truly care about this, more so than moderate discomfort... not only mill uncountably many people die from those decisions over the next 50 years, but the scale of climate refugees will be incomprehensible.

Yes, it is guaranteed that I would hit that button to save the life of any of my children, however, in real life, there are no buttons… we get what is in store for us, and we must continue our lives being blessed with the good, and in spite of the bad.
