He has always been the target of a lot of pressure and criticism for being handsome, wealthy, talented, famous, influential, and friendly. He even married one of the most gorgeous Spice Girls, Victoria Beckham. He was the whole package. It was too much for mere mortals to handle. They didn't accept any flaw from him, he had to be perfect. People's behavior towards him was a mix of envy and lack of respect for everything he represented. Congratulations, Beckham, for your resilience and strength! Enduring all of this and not giving up only makes you even more admirable! Surely, one of the greatest players in the current history of football. A true galactic!
Was at this game for my 21st birthday and I was unbelievably ill with a fever and tonsillitis. But the game was so mind blowing I stuffed 3 paracetamol down my throat and forgot all about it. Will never ever forget this game. I remember John O Shea being brilliant when things picked up for UTD also. Everyone goes on about becks looping and curling passes but his ability to low drive a long bullet pass was untouched. 22 unbelievable players on the pitch
🇮🇪 very good video sharing
Those matches were free to watch on ITV, not anymore
So many legends in this match, it was amazing man 😢
credits mostly went to Real Madrid for bringing so many stars down into the field
Zidane and Beckham respect 👏👏
Touched the ball right as it's going in?
Amazing.
Ronaldo is so lethal 🔥🔥🔥
Beckham I think is one of those payers that was not fully appreciated at the time. There was always media and his social life underlying his career. But he was truly world class and one of a kind. I met him one time at old Trafford. Now he is in the US doing amazing things, bringing the greatest player ever to play the game to the MLS.
What I career. Truly impressive!
He was nowhere near world class. He was a very good player but let's not pretend he was on the same level as the likes of Figo, Zidane or og Ronaldo in this Madrid team. THEY were world class.
His free kicks, world class, short passes world class, long passes world class. Overhyped a lot yes. He Came second for world best player.
Scored goal in three world cups for his country. Won everything in England playing a huge part.
What is world class, an opinion based on what people consider world class.
@@Luckybjj614 did you watch this vid? how many of his passes actually were completed? like 3 out of 20........... his free kicks were world class and that's it.
He definitely was appreciated at the time. However, he’s now massively underrated
Doing great things is US (MLS)? 😅😅😅... please please 😅😅😅😅😅
Cant believe its been 20 years. I still remember how this game went on, there was not much tactic just end to end pure attacking football. This game changed a certain london clubs fate as one russian oligarch was so impressed he decided to buy an english club.
Beckham outstanding player!
Scored a free kick and gave the ball away a lot😂
Those Champions League Tuesday/Wednesday night matches on ITV in the 90s and early 00s were just class. Maybe it's the nostalgia, but it doesn't feel as special anymore.
On that note, this was also the match that Abramovic was in the stadium for and made him fall in love with football. Before you know it he then becomes the first oligarch owner and the rest is history unfortunately.
Brilliant times back then.. nothing like it used to be. Not a utd fan but cheered them on in the champions league..
The cannon board in the background 😊😊
It really is nostalgia. I grew up in 70s and for me those 2 legs matches are still worth watching, specially since back then there was no group stage; rather from day one it was a 2 legs Competiton.
If you lost, you were out and that is what made those games even more entertaining and since live TV broadcast were few and far between, it made them really worthwhile to watch.
Old style ball & pitch of grass & earth, now a big ping pong ball that makes playing & trick shots easy & so fast that tackling almost obsolete.
@onetoten1if you had/have Sky then you funded what has become a near different game.
These two teams had legends, soccer will never be the same ,these kind of players come one in a lifetime.....greetings from Queens,New York ✌️
I totally agree!. Greetings from Manchester!.
Right. There will NEVER be another Roy Keane.
Yep. But, it's football ⚽
When u say legends and soccer at the same time 😶.
True United legend...
quel match 🔥🔥💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
The sheer amount of legends on these teams lol. Insane.
My childhood heroes in single frame. It's over loaded talent
Barthes, what a blunder
There were the boys! god what a beautiful time for football!
Probably the best game of football I've ever watched. I was just a kid but I remember it like it was yesterday
Beckham was indeed a pretty boy but also a fighter. Always giving all for his club. Respect ✊🏻
Golden days
so amazing
this moment when Football is beautiful games and Art. Beckham Free kick.. good combination with Nistelrooy. Real Madrid have Ronaldo Zidane.. Raul. Figo.. Carlos.. . what a beautiful day..
Truly miss this era
What a team Real had then.
Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant the Real Ronaldo
Now we know why he's called the Phenom! Incredible finish. Ronaldo...
Bartez's positioning though😢
The PLAYER'S in these two TEAMS ...DAVID beckham - REAL CLASS
😂
The meaning of pressure lol😂
Great free kick and lots of misplaced passes
Sir Alex Fergusson was blessed with a great squad. 👍 Legends
What a great players of the past in one match...I think today you cant find so many great players in one single match... What a beautiful time
That’s why you don’t sit him out for half of the match! 😂😂😂
He still looks great
Okay lets see what we have here:
95% unsuccessful passes
90% unsuccessful crosses
1 good free kick
1 own goal save from Hierro
Top notch skills 10/10
The beauty of football
passing 1
free kicks 99
Tukaq baju dgn Zidane tu…sempoiii
The day we thought r9 is back in his barcelona form. What a game from the best striker ever
Great Video 👏👏
Thank you
Just look at the defending for those goals.
So one free kick and a tap in that was going in regardless
The best free kick taker ever.
No where close, Juninhio Pernambucano ,Andrea Pirlo, Pierre Van Hooijdonk , Lionel Messi . are all better free kick takers than him.
Roberto Carlos for Brazil vs France in Le Tournoi 1998 is the best free kick ever scored.
@@alancawfield6549 you high? None of them can shoot afar like Beckham did till now
I was there that night. Two English players stood out, McMannaman and Beckham. A superb game
love how man Utd fans have to look into the history books for decent football :-D
in this match whem zidane and beckham change the shirts zidane said "come to real madrid" beckham says that in his documentary
Finally ZIZOU in United shirt !!!!!
What a Real Madrid team. Many legends in that line up.
they were big names, but this real madrid from 5 years ago led by CR7 are much stronger and they won everything
R9 was so much more talented than CR7
@@richardconte3837 Ha ha in what way? Ronaldo was a great player but in no way can be compared with Christiano Ronaldo. He's perhaps the best finisher in the world ever.
How good was Raúl - what a player
@@SurajInd89 oh well R9 is only the greatest number 9 in history of the game and if not for his knee injuries he could have been the greatest player in history. We are talking about a guy who played in a time that the serie A was considered the toughest competition with the hardest defenders . I've seen this guy shake off 4 defenders that were pulling his shirt at the same time, simply because he was that good and that unstoppable. Never seen Cristiano do that and Messi neither. And I consider them both legends. But the phenomenon was unique.
The caption of the video🤣🤣
Except that free kick 😅
As a United fan, i must say i was lucky enough to witness this extraordinary game and a gem of a performance from the one and only " El Fenomeno ".. you simply know how great a player is when he gets a standing ovation from Old Trafford. Pure Class 💯
Getting Man U fans to put down their sandwiches is a real achievement
Total class from the fans for the magician that was Ronaldo9
@TheDaverobinson would be worse if you where scouse, you could never find your h/t rat snack if you set it down.
Too right mate. I have to be frank though these times I was disgusted with Man U fans, not too long ago when this was happening the fans and all England fans booed the living daylights out this man, was bloody disgusting
@@TheDaverobinson as much as id like to have a go at you for this comment, this is too bloody funny mate 🤣
He came on and had a nice free kick goal with a bunch of shitty passes. Epic vid dude 😂
The last freekick is a must goal...Sir Alex was really disappointed.
Nobody talk about Zidane, but he was also World Class in that game
his performance in the 1st leg was better than ronaldo's
Man U and Real Madrid in there elite prime. What a game.
What ppl done realise is, it’s about forward thinking, attacking passes. Yes 4 out 5 of those passes won’t lead to a goal, but it only needs one.
I’d rather have a player who try’s those passes and fails, than someone who passes back!
Ronaldo pure class
Beckham is a home run hitter - he strikes out a lot, but he also hits the big shot as well.
It's football, you can only score or not score.
Keep your Americanisms in American sports, nobody hits "home runs" here.
I was at this game R9 was unbelievable
Try to stop that free kick, Good luck 😅
Ronaldo got ball just few times and turned those moments into goals. That's what people call the real class. Great teams, great players in both teams, great stadium, great memories
Yes but who would you rather be now?
@@djstabilo100 ronaldo
@@prabhavvenkatesh9247 😎👍
Old Trafford gave Ronaldo a standing ovation when he came off, he couldn't believe it.
the first and third goals were spectacular.
THIS GUY WAS BORN TO CURL THE BALL EVERYBODY WILL SAY ROBERTO CARLOS OR RONALDINHO YEAH THEY WERE ALSO MAGICAL BUT THIS GUY'S CROSSING AND SET PIECE WAS SOMETHING ELSE SIMPLY SENSATIONAL
What!
Jebus what a line up by both teams... good ol times
Hempasan rambutnya,
Cara berjalannya,
Kaosnya,
Caranya membawa bola,
Ancang2 tendangan bebasnya,
Ekspresi mukanya,
Tatapan seriusnya saat timnya kebobolan,
Bentuk tbuhnya,
Senyumnya waktu d bangku cdangan...
Sungguh2 aura ketampanan yg sangat luar biasa
Dia benar2 seperti PANGERAN YANG SANGAT RUPAWAN dalam cerita novel2 kerajaan....
The best era of soccer I guess
Nice to see fergy happy !
The game Beckham knew his time was up at Old Trafford.
Showing the Real fans who they were getting for next season.
Nah. His time at Man United was up when Ferguson kicked a boot at Beckham that left a cut just above his left eye.
@@aabidamn He did say sorry to Beckham... I've got the book... interesting read about what happened...
@@JulianSirian It was unintentional, but Ferguson had been very critical of Beckham for several years, particularly that season. He kept openly criticizing the way Beck's dress and his hairstyles, eventhough his performance on the pitch hadn't dropped because of it. I remember thinking that they're trying to push him out of Man United like they did to Stam and at the end of the season, I was proven right.
He played well enough coming on that Real wanted him. I was in Madrid at the time and the Spanish were impressed with his performance
Remember this game so well! We applauded Ronaldo off with a standing ovation and created enough chances to have won the game by 5 or 6
Yes, I remember that - and the look of confusion on his face as the opposition fans gave him a standing ovation ! We also chanted for Fergie to buy him...
We won but not by enough goals.
No idea why the title mentioned Beckham. He was part of a great team.
So a free kick goal and a tap in of a ball that was going in anyway. Nice.
Good music at least.
April 23, 2003- I was there
They showed his worst moments. He was good when he came on and scored two. Those two games were insane. I’m a Man United fan, but was a fan of football watching those two legs
look at sir alex's face when beckham's free kick fail out
David said in his book that he was shocked at his reaction when he (david) watched the game on tv later
Two own goals to serve Alex’s bribes , once he left , no more bribes
SOLD HIS SOLE
I was at this match, don't remember Beckham doing much but Ronaldo got a standing ovation from 79000 people when he came of the pitch.
Did 5000 people sneak into Old Trafford that night or something ?
Apologies for forgetting my dates
"off"...
@@alanlane3670 are you an English teacher?
@@keithscott663 Yes
He scored a couple of goal when Madrid had already the game won. Ronaldo (the original one) dominated the game.
How had they had the game won. If united had scored all their chances they would have gone through. Stop making things up on the internet you child
How do you dominate a game and lose it 😭😭😭im done with these fifa kids 💀💀💀💀did mbappe dominate argentina cos he scored. A hat trick? No they got slapped about and beat on penalties hold this L
@@Johndoe-gf7eu Madrid won the first game 3-1. They lost the second game 4-3, but still went through, quite easily on aggregate. Beckham's goals were scored when his team were 6-3 behind on aggregate. They would have needed two more goals to go through. Don't kid yourself. United were well beaten.
Those days where man United was a great team
More interested in swapping shirts with Zidane at this stage
I was at that match, Madrid were never in any real danger.
How I wish I could go back to 2003
Hi Benjamin,
it's funny just as the World championships are being played, our team the germans have been manipulated and
brainwashed for political purposes. And you can see it in their game. We, a group of older people, discussed about the
old times and football in particular. We named those who had participated in the first european championship in 1972 and what artists they had been. And even as late as 2014, when Germany won the world cup, those players where magic and are still highly respected when invited to a round of discussion. Today all has to be about gender, political correctness and one sees the
decline of great football playing. (and of course there is too much money involved today).
Hope for future generations that one day they experience that what we have all these years!
Zidane's vest...
I love the sarcasm in the title.
I remember watching this game live thinking exactly the same as I do today watching it 20 years on - Barthez should have done better with the 2 ronaldo goals, definitely the first!
Definitely. Barthez done more harm than good
Indeed. In a rewatch. Rio was absolutely destroyed by ronaldo. Roy keane was out of his dept.
But it was obvious that iker casillas was the superior goalkeeper. That stood out.
Real Madrid 🤴 👑 ❤
Messi, Ronaldo, Beckam and Pele all the greatest players in the world!
Look at the line ups for both the teams, sheer class
I'd forgotten how many of Beckham's passes went wrong, and how good Ronaldo was
Not true.. He was constent.. Hed just fallen out with fergie before this game.. Hence he was a sub
I think David knew his time was up, so his head was gone at this point
Trust me no one forgets how good ronaldo phenomeno was
But look who was in goal, Barthez should have saved both of Ronaldos goals.
Becks made a lot of high risk forward passes so of course a lot will not come off but when they do you're in behind
Great man. what a player. legend.
3:49 Beckham change an owngoal from hierro
Beckham was like there's no better team in the world than this all star Real Madrid gallecticos ever...A dream team... period
Beckham was a class player and got even better once he left Man Utd.
So what you’ve done there is just show beckham fucking up nearly all his passes and only scoring a free kick, then getting a toe to a ball that was already going in the net 🤣 great edit, well done 🤣🤣
Good free kick taker but he's below Scholes in term of accuracy long passing.
If you watch the whole match, you'd understand why Beckham gets plaudits for this match. United were getting an absolute spanking. Ronaldo had scored a sublime hat trick and was then substituted to a standing ovation from the United fans. Thoroughly deserved as well.
Until Beckham came on, United had done nothing in the midfield. He played more central and by the end of of the match the momentum was entirely with United and they should have scored another to take it to extra time. They didn't and Real progressed, but it was a brilliant match and a perfect example of a game of 2 halves.
I watched a similar performance against AC Milan a few years later, when Kaka got 2, was substituted, Gattuso went off injured and United got back into the game and won the match. Another brilliant game.
Haha R9 had gone off by this point..
A pretty standard Beckham performance
