Until 2020 (pandemic), most Canadians would have proudly & quickly said Canada is a great place. For multiple generations (young & old). It still is in many ways. But like all countries, a bunch of things have made life more difficult lately.
During the COVID lockdowns, many people in apartments (or major cities) went wild wanting to buy homes everywhere (urban & rural). Increasing demand and rising prices. Not long after, inflation caused mortgage rates especially to rise. Rent costs have soared too.
People interested in working in hospitals declined. Less doctors etc..
Simultaneously in Canada, the number of people coming by air, land and boat to claim asylum SKYROCKETED. For example, in 2023 alone, in just one region (Ontario) around 300 people arrived per day (on average). Ditto for other populated provinces. Also the number of international students skyrocketed too. Averaging around 1,000 per day in 2023 alone.
Hospitals then hit with many wanting free healthcare. Less doctors/nurses etc., means greater waiting times.
A severe housing crisis has occurred in many western countries including in Canada. In ways not seen in people's lifetimes.
The majority trying to migrate to Canada recently have been from South Asia. And it's become extremely obvious to Canadians. Even those that are very used to much diversity & many cultures. Neighborhoods now know that most international students are PRIMARILY seeking a ticket to come to Canada for PR. No one says it in public amongst strangers, but everyone knows because they've witnessed the extreme PR frenzy firsthand by now.
Bottom-line. Now westerners want people in other countries to stop marketing/lying to their own people about easy access to PR or citizenship or easy lives in UK or USA or wherever. For $ or whatever. And for greedy westerners in the mix to be ashamed of themselves.
Not all players across the board have acted honestly over the years, i.e. false asylum claims, contract marriages (IELTS spouse), fraud. Overseas 'agents' doing things to make $ off of people's PR desires or desperation. Some not respecting Canadian ways (harmony).
Then this year throw in all the Palestinian vs Israeli angry protests happening regularly in cities. Plus the Sikh vs Hindu violence/extortion happening in Ontario and BC cities. The Canadian government also recently launched investigations in regards to foreign interference in Canadian elections. All stemming from Asia continent. Hate crimes have gone from rare to occasional.
Canadians are not used to all this. So many, who have embraced multi-culturalism and immigration for decades are now worried and fearful (due to all of the above). And all are praying it doesn't turn into great anger (like in the USA).
Canadians want multi-culturism to succeed … and for all people to be okay. Everyone I know is VERY HAPPY with Canada Immigration's recent changes (reductions). Including multi-generation long-term Asian Canadians.

True ,I would say parents shouldn’t force kids to come and study here, they will end up in night shift jobs,,,so pathetic ,why students study in India and do jobs get experience and then go abroad without spending money

What is the point you are trying to prove Jyothis? I also know many many people living very happily in Canada. People reverse immigrate for many reasons. Can you tell me how many people leave Kerala every year. Definitely more than the number of people leaving Canada.
When somebody immigrate to Canada, try to get Canadian accreditations. Probably what ever you got from India may not count very much here.

@@TravelwithJyothisPaul For me really nothing to see. It is same everywhere. Cost living crisis is everywhere. Go to Australia, NZ, UK, Ireland or even Costa Rica. Also Kerala. If your parents don't own a house in Kerala, it is also very expensive in Kerala.
Trudeau did one big mistake. He should not have opened the border so freely. As long as he stop taking more people things will work out in few years.
I have lived through much bigger crisis in Canada. 10%+ unemployment and 21% bank rate.

If you have really received an offer to do PhD with scholarship to cover tuition fee it seems good offer. But you should have a deep pocket to cover the living expenses.
