you make pretty good content, i also think to start publishing my works in the near future. So far i have worked with old mercedes and opels, future goal is owning and restaurating also some vw van. I wanted to suggest you, when you get too much gap between the panels, try next time use a caper material such as caper tube. let the parrtner press from the other side of the panel to the place where you weld, or fix it on the place, it will help to weld the panels together, belive me. You can combine it with the metod you showed- using wire.

Ive done some fab work in mine, front inner and outer windshield channel, and like you im self taught and learned as i went along. doing the corners were the toughest part but also the most rewarding. Thanks for your inspiration as well as your skills and approach to doing the job at hand! Charlie, 43 yr westi owner, and 72 Beatle owner, (not bought new)
PS: Not sure where the drilled holes along the inner lip of the new panel are spot-welded to? At the end of the video I didn’t see you weld under the new lip.

I'm doing the same repair and I'm considering using some thick butyl sealant tape to replace the original foam in the channel

Was Tyler not bothered about stripping the shipping primer on the inside of the panel and coating with epoxy primer instead? Great video as usual!
