    Awesome, I get a lot out of your videos. Like the pro 15 primer. I just used regular primer around my side windows and rear and 2 years later I've got rust behind my seals so now I'm going to have to pop out the windows and do it all over. Well just 3 of them. But thanks for the info.

    i was doing some work on my parents '95 jeep Cherokee today (technically yesterday as im writing this at 1 in the morning) because it has recently been failing and when my stepdad and i were looking at it we noticed that the inside of the starter had a huge gouge on it from the flex plate (the automatic car's flywheel) rubbing up against it. we noticed that when driving it would loose all power and just stop working and then it would start again but it turns out the last time the transmission got dropped the person who put the screws in didn't know they needed to put thread locker in and the screws just fell out! so our transmission was just hanging there under the jeep practically but he and i got new bolts and thread locker as well as a new starter, and it now works like it had no damage in the first place! (that's only partially true, as the differential fluid is leaking on the rear left wheel but other then that it runs fine!)

    awesome, thoughts on your duraglas technique for the weld seams etc. I have heard a few schools of thought, some recommend sanding away the epoxy over those areas to get the filler onto the bare metal and then others say its not necessary. def heard conflicting thoughts on this and its usually some discussion of well filler attracts moisture etc. epoxy primer not really sandable etc etc?
    wahts your plan for the filler and prepping the areas that it will be used?

    • @Vangabonders
      @Vangabonders  Před rokem

      I am doing duraglass over epoxy primer. I know a lot of the old school guys say to put it over bare metal but I don’t trust it on porous metal or weld seams

    • @steelyerface21
      @steelyerface21 Před rokem

      @@Vangabonders 100 percent agree, so confusing for a newb like me what to do, have seen videos where the guy swears you "HAVE" to have the glass filler on bare metal and others that say modern fillers dont need to be!, myself id rather have epoxy be the only thing touching the metal, do you think it needs to be roughed up at all or just go right over the epoxy with the DURA? i know most people dont sand the epoxy primer and usually its pretty thin so perhaps that would defeat the purpose of even having it epoxied in those areas if you sand it?

    Hey man follow up on the ospho / acid treatment such as this or naval jelly or klean strip metal prep, i know some people just let the ospho dry and others say it needs to be re-wetted with ospho and then washed down with water or some even go so far as to use baking soda etc to neutralize it to prevent issues with epoxy primer?
    any thoughts on what to do with phosphoric acid treated areas prior to epoxy primer to make sure its "neutral" if thats an issue or not is debatable
