It would be kinda fun to see a couple of pictures of these cars after they have been restored.
I don't think that this hippie van is worth saving. Bondo and dents are all I see. Those hippies didn't even leave a single bag of weed in their for us. Lol
@@gregorylyon1004 sigh….. you obviously don’t know nor understand the passion of the vw enthusiast and our vw community
@@gregorylyon1004 this is actually in excellent shape. Also the Bus community are some of the most rabidly dedicated bunch there is.
Verdade
@@joelkvarnberg3120 buy one from south America, very cheap and rust free
Thank you for this Video.I am a German and I love this Car. VW Bus is great, I own one in 1980.🇩🇪👍🇺🇲
I worked at the factory where these cars are made from 1986 to 2013. Types T3,T4 and T5
T2 was before my time. Great that You are so highly enjoyed in this.
I'm a bit worried about your health seeing you walking around that tank so close with no fume mask on and all this damp evaporating from the tank. Can you tell me what chemicals are in that tank eating away that paint so fast? Great job, really like these movies!! Take care and keep it safe and healthy!
Came here to make the same comment.
You two mind your own business.
Dude, I find it hard to believe OSHA has signed off on this procedure... seriously.
No it’s fine as all that caustic runoff just goes into the creek behind Meemaws house.
@@craftycri They have never been to that shop. It would be closed in 30 secs after seeing that exposed acid bath. I bet all those guys have lung damage of some kind. :(
Thanks for all your hard work. We’re going to make her gorgeous!
I can’t wait to see her finished! Will you be posting on CZcams or IG? I’ll link your account
probably both. Thanks.
Please do post updates, it'll be great to see this old bus brought back to life
That Dub was in great condition. I was half expecting it to come out looking like a strainer.
You and me both! Lol
I wish my dad was around to see this episode, he had a 74 transporter, he worked on it, but I painted it along with another guy's help, brings back memories, thanks👍
Honestly, that bus is in great condition, considering its age. The dips uncovered all the sins but thankfully, it wasn't too bad. Some replacement panels, a skilled panelbeater and welder will sort that right out. Nice one!
I would not have dipped that bus if it were mine ,IT ISNT ,surely water would get into all the nooks and cranys and rot them over time ,, COME to Ireland and I will show u rust
@@iankennedy1441no wonder theres many of these buses in drier areas
Tolle Arbeit! Für so ein Alten VW noch ein erstaunlicher guter Zustand. Daraus lässt sich wieder ein Wunderschöner und Rostfreier VW Bus bauen. Als Deutscher liebe ich den VW Bus ♥️😍 Grüße aus Germany
It was only a decade ago that VW bay buses were not that desired or expensive to purchase. Now, they are very desirable and prices have gotten really high for the clean ones. Glad to see the bays getting some love.
So much faster and more efficient than weeks of sanding and grinding! That bus is totally naked now! Incredible. I love classic air cooled VW's.
It's definitely naked now.
And in a couple of years the new fresh paint job will fall of at the seams due to residual chemicals seeping out from joints and whatnot.
yeah this isnt a good idea. they will now be long term corrosion between overlapping panels that will end up destroying this bus. and the pressure washing job to remove the chemical, is peak hack job. you are far better off sandblasting or hydroblasting.
We had a 1963 VW bus when I was a kid. We bought it new in Europe and brought it back to the states.
How fun to see this one.
Thanks!
This was a ton of fun to watch. I have a good friend who is the original owner of a 1971 Bus - no kidding - that has everything from its original paint and nearly flawless headliner to a body that doesn’t need dipping. It was a “barn find” in that she had not driven it since 1999 and was in her horse barn all those years when I saw it and offered to renovate it. Can’t be many originals out there like hers.
That’s awesome! I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
Where did you find a bus with that much metal on it? If you would've dipped the one I had, you would've dipped a vehicle but only pulled out ropes.
@@kdkn50 That bus is amazing. My friend is a widow in her 80s and still owns the bus. One major reason for its lack of rust is a lifetime spent in the Pacific Northwest, where rusty vehicles (at least those away from the coast) are almost unheard of. That, and the fact that the bus spent nearly 30 years inside a dry barn. It has the usual rust damage at the rear quarters where the battery was -- and was moved to -- but that's about it. I tuned it, cleaned out the mouse nests, put fresh fuel and a battery in it, and the old gal started right up.
man this is the best you've done so far, fans of this model will be crazy to think about doing the same, very cool, congratulations on the job.
Thank you! I’m really glad you enjoyed it. This was definitely my favorite out of all the videos I’ve done! It’s great to hear positive feedback! ❤
Great work... seeing these classic vehicles being given a new lease on life is great 👍
This would be an EXTREMELY satisfying job.Thank you for sharing!
Its like watching the tide go in and out. Mesmerising
Very clean looking end product. Well done!
Memories you bring back wonderful Memories 1996. Perth OZ sharing driving a 1978 Combi, Perth to Adelaide very boring drive Nulabour straight 240kms at 50ksh. Lots time in forests B4 Canberra the Snowies. Melbourne Sydney, Brisbane return to Perth. Tq Gavin for an epic trip in OZ!
Further travels in BKK HCMC, Then 4 weeks Nepal, tea house trek to Langtang Gosunkund return to Kathmandu. 😊 😊😊😊
Как здорово наблюдать за этим. Люблю все чистые и хорошо переделанные вещи. Всегда хотела сделать дом на колесах. Сейчас смотрю самые разные видео по переделкам машин.
Love this video! Incredible how clean you she became. 👍♥️
Another awesome job well done! I truly enjoy watching the process... and have garnered a whole other appreciation for what exactly you do, and the attention to detail as you work on these amazing canvasses. This one actually answered my question of whether or not my bird will fit in the tanks, when and if I need to do this. Thank you for another wonderful video.🙏💜
Thank you so much! Means a lot to hear you say that! I’ll keep them coming! I appreciate you watching!
dont get it acid dipped. it will look great at first, then it will rust out between the seams. you wont even know till it blows through the paint.
and this guy, just pressure washing the fluid off, instead of even dipping it in a neutralizing tank (which still doesnt work btw), is a total clown.
get it hydroblasted instead. its so much better for the vehicle.
@@Nbomber I disagree, if you watch and pay attention to the details of what he does here, you will see each step... and the neutralizing tank. I have been doing my research and I am quite impressed not only with the chemicals that are used, but their removal and disposal of. Their attention to detail in all aspects of what they do is amazing, and if and when the time comes that my bird is in need of such attention I am about 96% certain they will be doing said work. But thank you for your opinion, I appreciate it.🙏💜
I like how it looks brand new 😮 as if in the factory back at 1969!
Greetings from Belgium 🇧🇪
That prep and quality of red paint is outstanding 😮
I had the pleasure of riding in one of those once! July '84, mom and I on a road trip, broken down on an ill-traveled two-lane road in the middle of Death Valley...
Maybe "pleasure" wasn't the correct word.
Definitely like your work ❤ keep it up
You see this is what is called time saver and what it looked like from the factory before the interior and painted and not like those that waste their time graindding it to remove the paint.
👍Schone Arbeit👍
A joy to watch. What a peach of a T2!
Great Job! Really interesting! Your a brave guy dealing with this chemicals! Love from the UK!
Wow, what an incredible starting position.
I just love watching the whole process... ;-)
Very cool video! Thanks for sharing!
This one was way cool.. thanks for the content
Really love your movies. Amazing results !
What an iconic bus with an increasing value now that VW has revived the electric version ID buzz.
People here love the car, have a smile on their face and give you a thumbs up if they see such car in the street, the old and the new.
Great work how you got so clean
If you really wanted to fashionable, you'd drive a DKW Kombi (Schnellaster)
Man. This is proper impressive. Something so satisfying about seeing it come out clean. I'm going to poke around your channel and look for other things with a little more patina. Got a 1950 Jeep I'm strategizing on
Beautiful work and especially nice since it's Westfalia.
Outstanding work, video and presentation.
Maravilhoso esse trabalho,top!!!
Thanks for the upload
The result is truly spectacular.
Ive done a major restoration in a 1970 Bmw 2002 and actually was told to opt out of this chemical process as it is too aggressive and weakens the metal structure of the car. But I have no data to back that up so... looks amazing though
whoever is having this done, is smart to do this, it's going to be really nice when it's done
It would be great to re-dip and e-coat after all of the metalwork is done.
Yeah not only do you get every scrap of paint and rust off, but with everything clean, you get an unparalleled picture of what work needs to be done.
This was so satisfying to watch
real life POWER WASH game lol love the VW BUS
Congratulations on getting your silver plague. I really like this format better than your previous ones.
You do a great job filming and showing before and after. The Picture in Picture is a really nice touch. Thanks for taking the effort to demonstrate what you do - it’s quite a challenge to do your job notwithstanding recording it.
Very enjoyable video, thank you …
You have the best job in the world !!!
One can imagine him lifting it back up and the roof being the only thing left on the ropes....love the brushed on gloss paint!
Verry good! Always wanted one of does!
Good job !
Pretty amazing to see those floor panels with no rust. This jewel must have spent most of it’s life in Arizona.
German job
Buen trabajo 👏
Standing besides the tank of chemicals as he pulls out a bus from it using a fork lift feels like safe life decision making.
Amazing video, made my day. Congratulations for the 200k!!! unlivable.
Thank you! I appreciate that!
That was WAY cool!👌🏻
I was surprised it survived!! ⚠️😲😳😁
Impressive job . I'd be over the moon if my old type 2 came out like that
👍👍👍😜🏴🦕🦄😁🤞✌️
Brings back memories. We had a 1967 microbus, bought new, when I was growing up. Red, of course. ;p
you guys do an amazing job
Hi friend, I have a channel where my son and I find really cool old cars, watch it if you like it, subscribe
It must be a good feeling to start a restoration with paint and rust free metal❤❤
You got out all the leaking oil, bong water and patchouli! Hence the extra dips 😂
For being 52 years old it’s in perfect state. You are correct, the drivers floor has been replaced. Love it, great job.
That looks fantastic
Fasinating to watch.
i was thinking that i will see the whole transformation !!!!!!!!! the final product !!!!!
great to see and hear a young man who loves his work . good video look forward to the day when you dip an old vw bug . CHEERS WORK SAFE WITH THOSE CHEMICALS IE PLEXIE GLASS SHIELD ON THE FRONT OF THE FORK LIFT WHEN REMOVING SHEELS FROM THE BATHS 🙃
Thanks! I’m very fortunate and do love my work❤. Cheers! The plexiglass is a good idea I’ll have to do that!
@@minute_of_dangle May I suggest a respirator too without sounding like a OSHA inspector, just being that close to alkaline and acid fumes for the video surprised me a little.
You've done a fantastic job helping bring this type 2 back to life.
@@Blaa_Boi the acid is food grade. It’s comparable to vinegar. There’s no toxic fumes. The alkaline is heated and originally a solid. It’s highly diluted with water and what you see is just steam. When I’m pressure washing I wear a respirator. I appreciate your concern and thank you
Ah!!! VW type 2 T2 ❤
Great job. Looks so much better. Thanks for sharing.
In a good shape, minus the accident. Normally front wheel arcs and vent openings are gone.
Great job !
The T2 is an awesome VW and much better looking! I have my dad's 69 VW bus he brought back from Germany he bought brand new while stationed there
Wow! That's the way to do it...with Soo much real estate on our vehicles that really looks Nooice! 😎 STOC
Nice job!
impressive work
Wow, for an early Bay Window (and a Westy?) This is amazingly solid.
Bondo Bug-gy! It's good to see it being rescued.
I bet Gabriel 'Fluffy' Iglesias would love to get his hands on this one and have it restored!
Do you do another dip in a neutralizer solution at all or is the pressure washer enough to get between panels and such?
Sorry! i hadn't watched far enough ahead before I wrote the question.
Great job…excellent video…
Thank you! I appreciate that!
I used to work at a high end auto body shop. We would have to paint strip and sand blast cars. This is so much nicer than what used to have to do. This is the way to go.
It definitely makes your job a lot easier!
Hi Edward, I have a channel where my son and I find really cool old cars, watch it if you like it, subscribe
Industrial caustic soda bath used to strip paint filter housings clean at work lethal stuff 👌
Excelente trabalho. 👍👍👍🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
That was strangely relaxing
great Job!
Ey congrats for the plaque man! You derve it for you greate work 👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks buddy! I appreciate that!
That was a really good video
Loved this! I have a '72 Bus, and I wish I could have you dip it 'cause mine is not in nearly as good a shape as this '69.
Thank you! This one was definitely a rare gem. Good luck with your restoration!
Nice. We are also restoring a truck from the 60s. One of the next steps is also the chemical dipping 😀
How do you keep the unpainted surface from flash rusting?
very tidy result , a good pdr guy will have that on the road after the weekend , its a mighty fine start to a project though.
That's amazing
Great job
Awesome work!! So soothing!!! Get some Beetles in there!!!
This is so therapeutic to watch
Excellent! 💯👍🫶
Thank you!
Its been awhile. Glad to watch another one. I don't know anything about body work on cars, but from your videos, a good body man is essential. I see a lot of terrible bondo.
It has! Too long. I’ve been working on the hardest car I’ve done ever right now. It’s soaking up a lot of time. I was so excited to get this video out specifically. I appreciate you commenting on and watching my videos. I’m really glad you enjoy them. Thank you!
Gosh I love this bus❤❤❤❤❤❤
Its in great condition for 1969👍
That red paint wasn’t giving up without a fight.
cool stuff : )
