- For my Presets visit: johnnathancordy.gumroad.com/ Well. That's another awesome pedal from J Rockett then. I figured this would be the perfect pedal that would be able to work with troublesome amps/modellers - particularly for someone who was trying to deal with a bright amp.
It's the signature of Mark Lettieri, which kind of makes sense as it's a pretty novel, versatile tool that is kind of a no-brainer if you were touring.
Here I try it with the Strymon Iridium, using both the Fender Round setting and the Vox/Chime setting. - Hudba
Just as reference, the sliders are 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600 and 3200 Hz.
There is some lovely playing and fantastic tone in this video John. Splendid work.
Thanks !! I've had my eye on this pedal too, sounds brilliant.
Sounds amazingly good, John! I absolutely love the MeLody drive myself - I discovered Mark's solo material last year and simply fell for the lead tone. Great video, especially paired with the Iridium, really cool!
Excellent playing, and inspiring tone. You just sold this one to me, Sweetwater owes you royalties. Thank you!
Damn man nice playing, like your sound a lot. Thank you for the review!
Great demo man. You sold it to me. Great playing!!
Amazing review as always
Very nice, I like how you can go from scoop to mid boost all in one pedal.
amazing review...thank you for this
you gave me many reasons to buy this pedal.
Great demo and great sounds. Thanks, you sold me this one. I'm looking to downsize my pedalboard and this is by far the most versatile overdrive that i've seen. I guess you can also use it just as an eq pedal by turning the gain down. I'm sure it stacks great with other pedals as well. Just like yourself i was thinking the same thing "how come there aren't more like this?" You see other J Rockett pedals like Archer, Majestic, The Touch etc all the time but somehow this one flew under the radar. Very underrated pedal for sure!
Really interesting exploration. I use the Iridium for my fly rig and just got the Melody for the exact reasons you describe - versatility, great basic gain tones (like all of Rockett's ODs). That's enables a wide range of tones in a tiny set up. Just add a tuner and maybe trem/verb and that's most material covered. Many thanks.
Man you could make a garageband default patch sound good. Amazing chops!
i love my melody as my mid gain, and my jrockett .45 cal is my low gain drive.
This was GREAT!!!
nice video! Curious if you experience kind of hiss increase when moving midrange bars. I do and it is an unexpected level and annoying when not playing...Thanks.
i would love to see a review of that strat of yours :)
The electrodyne is a fantastic amp. I wish I could have brought mine from NY when I moved to Alaska. A different amp from Mesa Boogie. It out Marshalled my Marshall.😂
Shout out to Texas Legend Mark Lettieri!
I play Yamaha Pacificas, NOT some Fender strats which have ancient staggered poles...havent really had a need for a separate eq yet! That being said I do have my zoom G2 on all the time which has very detailed eQs, Mark Lettieri is marvellous and so are You!!! this is an overdrive with an eq, so if one doesnt like the overdrive(with the eq)...,just bought the DUDE v2, so this would be overload for me, I get you though thhat overdrives with EQs...., but the cost of making and the selling price would be thru the roof to space, Melody...
Very nice playing . You have very good taste in your choice of gear. I have most of the JROCKETT pedals, and know how to get the most out of them. The kids who comment they don't like the pedal on its own into an amp,but prefer to stack it with another pedal are probably running the pedal into the clean chanel . The clean chanel is by design meant to sound clean, so if you want the best sound from an overdrive pedal run it into the dirty chanel with the gain on the amp set low ,just enough to where its just starting to break up. Set the pedal with the level high and gain low. Then increase the gain on the pedal till the desired amount of gain is achieved. This way the amp and pedal are working together to achieve the optimal level of overdrive. Instead of getting all of the dirt from the pedal into a clean amp.
Really useful drive. I just picked one up as they are going for £112 on Thomann. Seems so cheap, not sure why as they started at £199. I plan to use along side a second eq pedal for ultimate shaping when on and off.
I just got mine today, i picked it up for the same price.
How about trying that with a low powered Amp, for someone who only plays at home. Something like a Blackstar Artist 10 6L6, because I'd love to get some of the tones you get out of that...👍
Nice chops and nice review! Thanks! I'd love to learn that kind of style your playing in...what would I search to learn those kind of chops?
I do some lessons on the channel!
@@johnnathancordy Nice, I'll check em out for sure! Are these just scales you've modified a bit basically?
Awesome pedal concept. Sounds a little ‘chewier’ than most of my drive pedals, but I suppose you could adjust that.
I really like the sound and the amount of gain, I would like to try one through my Princeton I think it would sound killer. Cool demo and nice playing.
Great playing and killer tone! I have to ask, what pickups are you using? That neck pickup tone is INCREDIBLE!
What pickups are in that there geetar? Specifically the neck pup, it sounds SO good!
Yeah we need an answer)) Really amazing combo with the pedal - i even returned to video from background to see settings on the pedal. What a tone...
I believe they're Lollar dirty blondes.. possibly.
electrodyne ?
I bought the J Rocket twice. Couldn’t take to it. On its own. Just into an amp. I never stack pedals.
Really? I love it
I use the xotic SL Drive ran at 18volts with a Boss GE-7 graphic eq and it's so good, it's not as noisy as this pedal and just as versatile but I like that it's an all in one pedal, although I can use the Boss for other applications whereas you cannot use the eq on the pedal without the drive section. Just my thoughts, great reviews and your guitar playing is absolutely fantastic.
Yeh that's not a bad shout at all that!
Do I hear you breathing in between chords at the start? :p doing it consciously or does it just happen?
Hey Daniel! I'm afraid my breathing patterns are all over the shop yep. I think it's part of what screws up my timing incidentally...
yeah, didnt Britney have hit tune named Breathe,....or was it sigh, yeeaaahh, Toxic breathin maaan, Tom Waits used to breathe during the chrohdds, Seacust IN, oh an Willie N had a Bad Breath ( is better than no bread at all, ;
What speakers do you run these pedals through?
Benjamin! You're hearing predominantly direct tone here, but in the room I have JBL LSR305s
Plug? I connect via neural-link. Grandpa
I was considering this pedal - you’ve ditched it now though, right? Any thoughts for me in my never-ending quest?
Tastey tones dude
Freidman BE OD in front of the line 6 pocket pod please. I always like your video they are inspiring.
I got rid of the BE OD I'm afraid!
@@johnnathancordy 😭😖
Lacks in gain no?
Only if you want more gain. Remember this is a very low output strat too
@@johnnathancordy personally I don't like pedals where I have to have one knob dimed to get tone I want. Always like a little to play with either side but still sounds great. Dude is better though IMO
Great player, but did too much talking and tweaking being unprepared and guessing - nearly twenty minutes. I'm out
