- For my Presets visit: johnnathancordy.gumroad.com/ This is a pedal that I've wanted to play for a long time. As a fan of players like Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, John Mayer, the creamy Dumble lead tone is something I've been interested in for a long time. I've tried the Mad Professor Simble, and unfortunately with my gear it didn't really do it, and instead was quite spikey in the top end, which is not at all what I think of when I think Dumble.
The Dude however, has a really nice thick and chewy response, even with the single coil in the bridge of my Strat.
Here I'm playing into the Strymon Iridium on the Fender ROUND setting. - Hudba
That sounds incredible!
Yessir, great tone!!
I have the Version #1 and I love it, Punchy drive. I've use it on My gig as my Main Overdrive.
That pedal is amazing, if you go all the way with the gain it even gets fuzzy.
You're a great player, very fusionesque.
Holy smokes. Sounds so good in its own category.
Doesn't it just. I wasn't expecting it to sound this good. I'll demo it with my Electra Dyne tomorrow. Never heard a drive pedal like it with that amp
johnnathancordy yea I can't wait to hear it! This the v2 model?
@@narrvick yes. As far as I'm aware they're the same circuit but the volume control has a more relaxed sweep?
This sounds really good. Helps that you are a great player too. I have an insanely good Dumble ods clone that I had built and this pedal doesn't remind me of it but it sort of has it's own thing going on. I really like it regardless. It's smooth and has nice mids and low end. Will have to try this. Currently I have a Kingsley Minstrel for Dumble tones and it does a great job.
I also have the Minstrel but the overdrive texture and sustain starts flubbing out with other pedals in the chain... Maybe its the tube? The Dude sounds razor sharp with more controlled sustain.
Sold me on the iridium.... and now a dude. Damn you!! 👍🤟🏼
He convinced me to get a Dude too lol
Got my Dude last night and played it til almost 4am!!! Amazing pedal. Clean boost is awesome with it also. Thanks again Jonathan!!!
Waiting in the Iridium, any day now!
I've just got myself a Barber burn unit EQ that has a dumble setting on it. Has a similar kind of sound to this. Overdrive with a hint of fuzz around the edges. Seems to do good EJ/Gilmore lead sounds. Looking forward to trying it out on the iridium - which should be in stock tomorrow and bring sent out soon after!
I have a Barber Gain Changer SR. The most Underrated pedal I have ever heard. It is going to the Grave with me. People sleeping on the Barber Electronics stuff !!!
Just ordered one 🥲
Oh mate that is one hell of a sound. It's sweet and chewy. Which amp and cab model (IR) did you use on the Iridium?
I see you’ve got the Boogie Mark V:25 in the background (I have the same amp). Do you think the Dude stands on its own with the Mark V:25 or can you get similar/the same sounds out of the Boogie?
I use the Gtown Holygrail Overdrive. I love Dumble-style pedals. Such good tones available - for about $50,000 less.
I've had a Simble and it didn't quite do it for me - The Dude is quickly becoming one of my favourite pedals ever!
@@johnnathancordy The Dude is definitely one of the few ones I've heard that gets really, really close.
@@Diax1324 I think in its own right it's such a tone that I dig that whether it's close or not I love it!
Interesting pedal with nice bit of breakup. I find most ODS in a pedal much too compressed sounding. This is nice.
Hi John. Great pedal for a sensitive player like you! The Dude is been under my radar for quite a bit, after having seen it in a Marc Lettieri video. It might really be my bread and butter, but... I'm wondering how could it sound on my Fender clean amp. I have recently bought a Fender Bassman 59 RI which a love, mostly because of its clean tone (I'll never crank it till the break up point). But not all my OD pedals sounds good on it, whilst ANY of them sound pretty good on my Marshall plexi. Any thoughts on such pedal compatibility and performance on a clean amp like mine? Might it sount too bassy or booming, or harsh? Should it retain its creamy attitude? (FBassman has plenty of bass because of its 4x10 cab)... many thanks!
The Dude for me has been one of the more consistent drive pedals - into my California Tweed (clean and bright amp) it sounds super creamy and lovely!
is it the V2 version?
What Cables are you using to output to interface?
Why is your iridium led blinking? I haven't found in manual any use case where it blinks red :D Just curious
Are you using a noise gate? How is your Strat so buzz free?
I'm sat away from the PC and speaker - I guess this is what causes most people noise?
Sounds sweet. Now if you could just quickly do an A/B between this and a real Dumble, that'd be great. Cheers, mate!
You will need to sell your kidney to get a real dumble. Why you want to Jonathan sell his?
Any comparison between v1 and v2? Any thoughts on the difference between the two.
I think the only difference is that the Volume (level) taper is different?
Sounds fantastic. What kind of guitar is that - I can’t quite make out the name on the headstock.
Beantown Twanger K-Line
Is thus the v2 pedal?
Chew it! GuymannDUDE! How much does this little dude cost? It would be Dumble if it cost $10,000.
Joe Bonamassa's Dumble sounds the best.......well so does his Fenders.
Dude or morning glory?
Very different tones - I believe the morning glory is Bluesbreaker based? Which would be relatively lower gain than the Dude?
@@johnnathancordy Yes, i realised i did not make enough research before asking you but anyways thank you for awareness!
Get your hands on a jetter!
JC Walker I have a Jetter Grissom and a The Dude on my board. Both awesome.
Chris Lester do u feel like the dude is too compressed? I just always thought the dynamics on the dumble tones I hear are the opposite of compressed, but the dude has some squash
JC Walker Hmmmm. Good question. It seems to have a lot of girth and bottom to it so it sags a bit. The Jetter Grissom is more open sounding to my ears. I like the Dude for slide and being the last gain stage of my pedals. I actually like compression and sag so I may not be as aware of it as you. Which Jetter do you like?
Chris Lester the dude def has a nice thickness to it. I like the gs124 the most I think
Dude or HRM? Your preference?
Thanks
Sounds like rick james.
Sounds too fuzzy for my taste
I guess I’ll consider myself lucky that I don’t like how the dumbles sound at all
Dumble’s are overrated
The Dumble ODS sound. Not the Dumble sound. Dumble isn't 'a' sound. The Dumble SSS sounds completely different than the ODS. There are other Dumble amps, even one that is based on a Vox.
