  • For my Presets visit: johnnathancordy.gumroad.com/ This is a pedal that I've wanted to play for a long time. As a fan of players like Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, John Mayer, the creamy Dumble lead tone is something I've been interested in for a long time. I've tried the Mad Professor Simble, and unfortunately with my gear it didn't really do it, and instead was quite spikey in the top end, which is not at all what I think of when I think Dumble.
    The Dude however, has a really nice thick and chewy response, even with the single coil in the bridge of my Strat.
    Here I'm playing into the Strymon Iridium on the Fender ROUND setting.

    This sounds really good. Helps that you are a great player too. I have an insanely good Dumble ods clone that I had built and this pedal doesn't remind me of it but it sort of has it's own thing going on. I really like it regardless. It's smooth and has nice mids and low end. Will have to try this. Currently I have a Kingsley Minstrel for Dumble tones and it does a great job.

    • @funkyfurballs1078
      @funkyfurballs1078 Před 3 lety +1

      I also have the Minstrel but the overdrive texture and sustain starts flubbing out with other pedals in the chain... Maybe its the tube? The Dude sounds razor sharp with more controlled sustain.

    I've just got myself a Barber burn unit EQ that has a dumble setting on it. Has a similar kind of sound to this. Overdrive with a hint of fuzz around the edges. Seems to do good EJ/Gilmore lead sounds. Looking forward to trying it out on the iridium - which should be in stock tomorrow and bring sent out soon after!

    Interesting pedal with nice bit of breakup. I find most ODS in a pedal much too compressed sounding. This is nice.

    Hi John. Great pedal for a sensitive player like you! The Dude is been under my radar for quite a bit, after having seen it in a Marc Lettieri video. It might really be my bread and butter, but... I'm wondering how could it sound on my Fender clean amp. I have recently bought a Fender Bassman 59 RI which a love, mostly because of its clean tone (I'll never crank it till the break up point). But not all my OD pedals sounds good on it, whilst ANY of them sound pretty good on my Marshall plexi. Any thoughts on such pedal compatibility and performance on a clean amp like mine? Might it sount too bassy or booming, or harsh? Should it retain its creamy attitude? (FBassman has plenty of bass because of its 4x10 cab)... many thanks!

    • @johnnathancordy

      The Dude for me has been one of the more consistent drive pedals - into my California Tweed (clean and bright amp) it sounds super creamy and lovely!

      JC Walker Hmmmm. Good question. It seems to have a lot of girth and bottom to it so it sags a bit. The Jetter Grissom is more open sounding to my ears. The Dumble ODS sound. Not the Dumble sound. Dumble isn't 'a' sound. The Dumble SSS sounds completely different than the ODS. There are other Dumble amps, even one that is based on a Vox.
