  • Du Faur Creek Canyon or Clatterteeth Canyon is a beautiful canyon located at Mount Wilson. Like a lot of other canyons there, you can park your car at the fire shed and start your walk in from there.
Clatterteeth has at least two possible starts and at least two possible ways to finish it, all depends on how long of a day you want. Both ways of starting this canyon go via the same access track, along the Bogey Hole fire trail, til you head down a ridge to a saddle.
Once at the saddle, you can go either left, or right, right is a shorter trip, but you miss out on a lot of fun canyon sections. Left, you go down into a feeder creek, then into October creek, then down into Du Faur Creek. October Creek has some stunning sections of canyon, but it does add on a bit of time to the whole adventure. This is the way we went, via October Creek.
Clatterteeth Canyon is quite wet, plenty of swims and wades, we were thankful that the water was quite warm on the day we did it, so, very pleasant conditions for our adventure.
There are a few scrubby creek walking sections and where you walk varied, either in the creek or on tracks or no tracks on the side of the creek.
As you get further downstream, you will come upon a stunning wild swimming pool, was so deep, clear and just the most stunning emerald green, just had to have a swim. (Not that we had not already swum a lot already)
After a while the canyon really opens up, and it is more creek walking and wades, very pretty just the same.
Eventually, you come to where Joe's Canyon exits into Du Faur Creek, this is one of the possible exits, making for a shorter day. As we had done the next sections previously, we used Joe's Canyon as our exit.
Alternatively, you can continue downstream, experiencing more amazing swims and canyon sections til you reach Bell Creek, then downstream from there to the Wollangambie River, and exit at Horseshoe Bend.
This really is a stunning canyon with many LONG swims, we used no flotation devices apart from inflated dry bags in our packs.
We highly enjoyed this one, and as always, the trudge back up to the fire shed is just so much fun.

Soo good to see again. At 67 with significant arthritis, and my wife disabled from a stroke, it's wonderful to relive our many trips and some guiding I did. Thanks so much

Thankyou Sandra, up until a few years ago, I had never set foot in places such as these, now, I get to experience and explore them regularly. Plus, I get to share them with so many people, so that makes me doubly happy.

A great day out doing this canyon. Water temperatures were quite warm, which was a bonus, too!

Great video, as always, guys. I think we did this the day before you, and then did Joe's to the Wollangambe a week later.
I did enjoy starting at October Creek though, it was like the creeks just kept giving till the end.

Yes, you did, it is a great way to start the canyon, October creek just keeps on giving. We have done a couple more stunning canyons since and just researched and firmed up plans for our next canyon. So many to do, so little time.
