The top section is very short with a nice abseil at the end. The lower section is deep, dark and tight in places, just superb.

No, in dry conditions, and driving to the road conditions, a normal car is fine. After rain, the road will be a mess.

If you have a 2wd and the road is like usual and a bit dodgy, you would need to park just off the Old Bells Line Road where you turn off. This would add quite a few kms of fire trail walking.

Thanks for letting us know and being part of the crew who built the "new" track. When you built it, did you improve the original private tracks? Was there much left of the old wall that created the swimming pool at the base of Mabel Falls? Did your team install the handrail and BBQ above Edith Falls? Was the bridge that washed away between Mabel and Edith Falls? So many questions lol....

@@shoesonmyfeet6056 The tracks were not so much ‘private’… all crown land. The ones at the lower two falls (with the handrails) pre-dated the work we did by many years. They were maintained by BMCC maybe? although sporadically and minimally. In the 1990 era, BMNP was expanded to include many BMCC areas, the most notable being the cliff lines and escarpments of the Jamison Valley, however the funding for our job came directly from the MWSDB who hand responsibility for this land at the time. (T of V walk is in the Woodford dam catchment.) It’s hard to visualise now, but the upper track that we built (note: hardwood steps) was placed over a fire trail which we rehabilitated - you could drive to within a few meters of the upper (Mabel) falls along what is now the walking track alignment.

@@shoesonmyfeet6056 The bridge of which I speak was about 200m below Mabel falls and was made of Uni-strut. The crossing now steps down to creek level and all of the metal has been removed. The dam below the falls (interesting sandstone blocks) was similar in 1990 as it is today. The original dam would be 100 years old I reckon.

They still make volleys, but, not like they used to be and no real support. We both love our bestard canyon boots, so much grip, so much support, for us, the ultimate canyon boot.

We both started in volleys, they stopped making large sizes, so that stopped my partner from canyoning. When we discovered bestards, we could not believe how good they were, seriously, sometimes too grippy when trying to slide down a rock. But, they give you a lot of confidence when walking on most surfaces. Slimy rocks will always be like ice skating. On the walk in and out, very supportive. Certainly not the cheapest, but, these are specialist boots designed for one purpose, and for that, they excel. Glad you like the channel, we have more canyons coming up over winter.

Thanks Ian, planning takes time, but the executing take waaaay longer than usual. If a canyon takes most people 5 hours, count on 7-8 for us. Things don't always go to plan, waiting for other people, trying to get water out of microphones, reshooting the same things because you find a better angle. It goes on. We have discussed a gear we take type of video, and it is still something we want to do, sometime this winter or early spring. Keep enjoying our videos and we will keep on making them.

Not a fan of crowds, it was tough filming the Grand Cliff Top Walk with just so many people. Give us the peace and solitude of the bush or a canyon anyway.

Agreed, I did notice a large "artwork" had been removed behind the falls, but a smaller one is near the picnic table now.

After rain this could be a very slippery walk. I got caught in a thunderstorm a few years ago on the walk out, making for an interesting, slippery walk out. Let us know once you have been and what you thought.

Thankyou Sandra, up until a few years ago, I had never set foot in places such as these, now, I get to experience and explore them regularly. Plus, I get to share them with so many people, so that makes me doubly happy.

Not all are wet, some are dry and some are semi-wet. All depends on how much rain we have had. The dry canyon on the way to the Glow Worm Tunnel is a dry canyon and basically suitable for any able-bodied walker. Even good for children with care, one to put on your list perhaps?

It can be a lot of fun, but, like any canyon, still needs to be treated with respect. It was not long after this was filmed that a canyoner broke her leg in here and had to hobble out.

You have an impressive backyard, our videos are long enough to give you an idea of what to expect, and we do say a few times there is plenty to see and we don't show it all. I believe we do mention that there is more to see. We filmed a number of other items, but would rather let people discover these themselves. Hope you enjoy our other videos and perhaps we encourage you to visit other places in the future.

100%, if you go for a good wander, there is still more to see, but, sadly fire claimed what was left of the mill long ago. Would have been an amazing sight the effort they went to to put in that railway.

@@shoesonmyfeet6056 relics from the railway also exist at the top of the ridge & as soon as you arrive near the creek. There is apparently some on the descent too but I’ve not found those yet.

We looked for winding house foundations but were unable to find them on that visit. Plus, it started to rain so we wanted to get out of the valley a little dry. We will go back and have a further look around.

Glad you liked the video. Firstly I would check these tracks are open, they may be closed. I would allow 3-5 hours as a comfortable time, it may be less, it may be more. Just don't rush and enjoy.

We both wear Scarpa brand hiking boots, hard wearing but like ice skates on anything wet. Basically anything in your budget, that is comfortable is all you need. Scarpa has not been without issues, one pair the sole keeps delaminating and the other the stitching has failed in the same place on both boots. We may look at other brands in the future.

Worth the drive, we love the improvements that have been made.

Yes, have been coming here for about the same amount of years, yes, it gets very busy, we went early to dodge the crowds.

Winter is a great time to camp out on the Plateau, if you are prepared and used to cold camping. If it is not windy, the days are stunning in the colder months.

@@shoesonmyfeet6056 Yeah I'm not all that big on cold weather camping although I am hoping to do a little more of it this year.

Be prepared for the cold and you will be fine. It can get well into the sub zeros out on the Plateau in winter, did not reach that low June long weekend, was mild.

The new pathway is much safer, and it means that people now have more stable footing and aren't calling out, disturbing the glow-worms, every time they tread on a rock or in water. They new path only takes up half the tunnel, so the original path can still be viewed for the construction marvel this tunnel is.

@@shoesonmyfeet6056 ok in that case it makes sense, hopefully the glow worms were not disturbed while they were constructing this path as there was most likely lots of noise inside the tunnel during that time

I am sure NPWS did a study into the impact during construction. Having said that, a lot of the work was done in the cooler months, so less glow worms than summer. The path does make it more enjoyable, the handrail especially, you can lean up against it, turn your torch out and let the total darkness take over. The glow worms will start to appear quickly as your eyes adjust. We give the upgrade the thumbs up for this reason.

Glad you liked it, it took us almost 10 hours with filming and visiting lots of lookouts. We took 2 cars. You can train back from Katoomba to twenty falls station and then less than 10 minutes walk to car.

The improvements are quite good, the raised walking track through the tunnel has made it easier and safer. Can get very busy though.

It sure is a fabulous piece of history. Amazing to think of all they did to construct this railway. It's definitely a much more peaceful place to visit now....if you get there before the crowds!

Hi Sue, thanks for your comments, this is all the same creek system, a very pretty creek system, so green and stunning.

At times, when there is nobody else in the canyon, it feels like we are the only people around, when we did a certain other canyon, a large group was near us and they made a hell of a racket, 100% of the time. Meant a lot of the "sound of the canyon" had to be replaced.

Mount Wilson is such a pretty area! We hope you get to explore further in the future!
