The last skate was really beautiful. Loved how they cut to the pond. Modern skating has too much emphasis on jumps and not enough on artistry. She was stunning.
so true, now figure skating is all about jumps can’t find that artistry and elegance in figure skating anymore. the last figure skating that I saw that have artistry was Kim Yuna. I find her skating magical and hypnotic. specially her Vancouver olympic performaces and 2013 world championship and add her exhibition gala in olympics 2010 and 2014 is mesmerising. ❤️

It doesn't matter if everyone knows that her eyesight is still bad because they're all still clearly on her side. She's proven that even with limited eyesight, she is still a champion and not a quitter. For that, she's earned everyone's love and respect.

I remember the original. Most who watched the original would be so impressed by it that any deviation from it would feel not right. But I think this version is not bad. My daughters who watched this version before the original didn't find any version worse. I particularly like the instrumental music in this final performance scene. But with vocal, Melissa Manchester's version is simply a perfection.
I had no interest in watching the remake because I loved the original so much (it's what lit the fire to learn skating in me--a fire that through circumstance had to be banked for many years but which recently got a chance to blaze). However, this clip changed my mind if for no other reason than the updated skating. Lynn-Holly Johnson was a pretty good skater in 1978. Taylor Firth was a really good skater in 2009 (her IMDB listing claims top 20 US figure skaters), so the updated skating will make it worthwhile so I'm going to have to look up a copy. What I like about both Ice Castles movies (and the movie Ice Girls) is that unlike so many other movies instead of teaching their star some basics so they don't fall down in the closeup scenes and relying on stunt doubles for the actual skating, they found someone who could _skate_ to play the main roles. Kudos for that.
It helps that it was written & directed by the original writer & director. I guess he wanted to add a little bit to the story that he was willing to remake it.
the finale scene of these remake does'nt move me at all unlike the original especially lynn holly johnson, you can feel her emotional finale skating scene matches her movement on the instrumental through the eyes of love, the looks of robby benson face....oh my.....her dad and her couch.... great performance.... the finale scene of the original really makes me cry.

Cause Taylor dances beautifully, & I got goosebumps on this version versus the original , she didn’t danced as beautifully as Taylor ., yes it’s Bobby Benson heartthrob ( so handsome) but I see that this version their love is what makes her come back & skate with so much poise! This version apart from the skating was better , it showed also a love story , they loved each other but at times the glamour & making yourself famous comes with a price , they broke up but it shows that she couldn’t live that life ( she was a simple girl that was deeply in love ) & to follow a dream , she feels alone ,misses her life back home … ( not everything is about being the best , working hard ) but for what if you lost your LOVE along the way , that’s why she goes & skates freely cause that’s how she felt close to him &their love, unfortunately it cost her her eye sight., but he forgave her & worked to bring out of her shell , as she was slowly dying in self pity., he got back on the ice & working together it showed how strong their love really was, it made their Love that much stronger ( at least in this version she had climbs of seeing shadows., who knows if she would get a little more … but in this story yes she danced even like having blinders on ( she can skate without seeing) , , TAYLOR showed us how beautifully she remembered every step without seeing , & a man that loved her whether she could see or not! Live this version more! The music , is the same instrumental at the end was so amazing , in the beginning when movie started & she was skating in the pond it was Melissa singing version ! ❤👍🏻🥰👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The original was FAR better. This skater looks and acts like she’s 25 years old. Lynn Holly Johnson played such a sweet innocent 16 year old even though she was older. Hollywood NEEDS to stop remaking classics. This version was SO LAME.
