I've told to use synthetic motor oil on the recoil spring. I just purchased a 1958 BROWNING A5

johnnyweeks1971 yes that’s good practice. Basically an actual gun oil/synthetic oil would be better than clp for that application.

"Don't use too much oil" process to slather the hell out of it.

Have you guys ever used GunX from CorrosionX? We use the AviationX on aircraft in the Air Force and I saw an add for the GunX and some of their other products. I know it works for keeping rust off tooling and I've been told by some Crew Chiefs that it is a good anti-size on some items. I was wondering if it is a good lubricant on some semi-autos like the older A5 like I have. Also do they make a rifled slug barrel for the A5? The one I have is a 1968 manufacture and chambered for 3" Mags, but has a Linemen adj. choke on it that I don't want to remove as it was a gift.

If the barrel has been shortened should the recoil spring be shortened to?

Hello Brownells. I have a question in regards to the Auto 5. The gun was made in 1969. It is in great shape. And I'd like to know your thoughts about the Remington DriLube spray. It's a teflon based spray that I'd like to use in it. If it works. But, I don't want to 'gunk' it up. Hence the reason to use the spray. Can you help with your thoughts???

Unfortunately we have not tested the Remington DriLube on any Browning A5’s yet. I would suggest contacting Browning directly as to their suggestion with the product.

How does the magazine follower come out of a Japanese a5 magnum ?

The same way as on an FN A5. If you look at the follower retainer at the top of the magazine tube , you'll see two small holes, one on either side of the split. There are pliars made to fit in the holes. Squeeze the retainer together and slide it out of the magazine tube. The spring and follower will slide out. A light coat of oil will help keep these parts from rusting.

La A5 puede disparar cartuchos de bala?

"Do not over lubricate"....dumps a gallon of gun oil over it.
