Baltic folk I was indeed thinking about that. I think in some cases serenity and melancholy are combatible. But in my opinion the woman in this song is not feeling serene.

Jan Tilli My objectivity might have been biased because of my life presence in this performance. Husband and two little kids of the singer were sitting right beside me and despite of the melancholic lyrics her voice and performance sounded trully serene. Maybe it's because she _wasn't_ living out the song while performing it? Or maybe she _was_ and the very purpose of such old love songs is to make the performer transform whatever grief and sorrow she has in her heart into tranquility...
