This song is bliss. Watching this video is so bittersweet. It makes me wish I could relive the late 90's as the adult I am today instead of the struggling and blossoming teen I was then. Everything felt so fresh, fun and promising back then. I wish I had reveled in it more. But I am still grateful I got to smell those flowers before they were gone. The message of this video to me is to not miss out on the ephemeral beauty of life. And the benefits of carpooling.
This song came out shortly before I turned 14. I was really into metal/grunge/punk. I was angsty. I was angry. I was sad. I heard this song for the first time in the midst of a very hard time. This song was so pretty sounding and the vocal harmonies at the end of the chorus made me tear up. 21 years later, this song makes me tear up for different reasons. Not exactly nostalgia, but just the passage of time. Seems like forever ago but every time I hear this song I’m still that 14 year old kid who is paused in his tracks at the gorgeous sound of the vocal harmonies and the chord progression.
I have to literally "swat away all the nostalgia" hearing this and seeing this vid. I was 21 in late 98 early 99. Had my entire life in front me after such an eventful youth in early-mid 90s! Brings tears of happy
I love this band because they make me smile, tap my feet, shake my booty, sing out loud (badly), remember just how good Cape Town was in the 90s and also show my respect to talented musicians who worked hard and had their 15 minutes of fame. R.I.P. Viv.
I,ve spent about 20 YEARS looking for this song! I didn't know the name of the band, song... Nothing! Thank you, Spotify ( and Buffy the vampire slayer)!!!
These girls were way ahead of their time . . . their music is still more than relevant, and very listenable (more than I can say for a lot of the so-called "talent" here in 2015).
@Peter Angles Natural Ingredients and Fever In and Fever Out are far from mediocre especially the first one. Natural Ingredients has nice, well written and well played pop tunes
I’ve been looking for this song for 10 years!!! Only heard a snippet with no lyrics. Heard it on the end of an episode of “Becoming” on MTV. Hit shazam and boom! Great song!
Such a beatiful song. Half the time I listen to it, it makes me cry in a good way. It just hits me in that pefect way. Also... Everybody in this video is just downright beautiful. Looks like the had such a fun time doing this video...
I was fifteen when this released and I love the aesthetic so much. The bright saturated colors, the flowers and green fields, and of course the retro fashion. I love seeing Gen Z bringing some of these styles back.
Season 2 episode 1 of Charmed "Witch Trial" brought me here. Also I loved the song when it first came out in 99, but glad Charmed reminded me how awesome this song and the 90s were.
I was looking for a charmed comment lol. I could not remember the episode I heard this song on, i didn't even know the lyrics lol other than "I got heart".
if this video was made just a few years later, they would all be holding their cell/smartphones dancing awkwardly and never looking up at the camera or interacting with eachother. this video is a perfect time capsule of the summer of 1999.
Modern day music?? What do you consider modern day music? I am a metal head yet that does not mean I don't like or cannot deal with other genre's of music. I would say that modern music today, OUTSIDE of the metal world, is at an all time LOW. It makes the 90's look good. is LJ song I love but I recently watched a live performance of this song and it was horrible. I am all about if you can or cannot play live.
@@ms.felonystrutter2472 So basically what you're saying is that you are a pretentious dick who willfully ignores all of the good music that has come out in the past couple decades? When Yuka Honda got on the bus I literally slammed the pause button and yelled IS THAT YUKA HONDA!?!?! and then image searched "yuka honda 1999" and spent 90 seconds comparing photos only to confirm that yes, it is most likely Yuka Honda. Then I hit unpause and Miho Hatori showed up on the bus too and I realized I should have just kept watching lol. Anyways, great song. I remember watching this on The Box back in 1999 in Portland Oregon.
Im so SO freaking happy I grew up in the 90's and have an appreciation for 90's music. Most kids these days call this stuff crap without giving it a chance. Well they don't know what they are missing out on.

@Redsoxman199 Kate Schellenbach was also the drummer for the Beastie Boys in the early 80s. Luscious Jackson also released music through the Beastie Boys' Grand Royal record label.

Jill's honey voice remains as one of my favourite ever! I come back here everytime my life is bitter and I need some ladyfingers to comfort my soul. :)
This song takes me back. I first heard of LJ, back in the 90's. When they sang on Saturday Night Live. During a crappy time, in the crappy mid 90's. They were supposed to be the girl beastie boys. Same record company I think. In the somewhat better and fun late 90's, I did some Army time. I went to the local mall in upstate NY. At the record store, I got 2 of their albums on cassett tape. Awesome tunes. The I saved some money, I got a cd player, and got electric honey on cd. I was listening, in my barracks, when my room mate, liked what he heard. "Who is this?" Lucious Jackson, I responded. He was un- familiar, with LJ, but liked what he heard. So much that he got the cd. Good times, great music.
Such a visually pretty intro for this video..., and this was exactly the song I was looking for. I wonder what these ladies are up to nowadays. I totally had a crush on the bassist back in the day. As a musician myself, I'm a sucker for brunettes that can play music.
saw this video on mtv in the middle of the night 15 years ago and always thought it was Texas. took a chance and clicked on this video. now, i'm beaming from ear to ear. this is the jam!

Great song, it's timeless! It was a good time to be alive in the 90s. Plus, it's good to see how NYC looked back then. Music stinks now. Except maybe Polyphia. No one puts the same amount of work into music like they used to. It's sad, I miss that!

Watching this video is bittersweet. It came out at an odd time culturally - the watered down "alternative" era that was the late 1990s. It's like watching the creative early '90s that I remember getting on a bus and heading towards a future full of Britney Spears and her number of clones, Boy Bands and numetal. I'm very grateful I got to experience the early days before the creativity was co-opted and commodified.
Pennsylvania History Buff true story. I remembered feeling a bit unnerved when "alternative" bands started getting airtime on mainstream FM radio. When I heard the musak version of an Echo and the Bunnymen song playing in a department store once, I knew that the era was over.
I think the late '90s were a little better than the early '90s. I love soft alternative and nu metal. There was still a little bit of grunge in the late '90s as well, especially around 1997.
@HybridNirvanaMixes no way! If 85- 95 could be it's own decade, it would hands down be the best for music, fashion and just culture in general. You had all that excellent dark and melodic new wave sound that got better throughout the second half of the 80s as the technology was evolving. Then around 88- 89, they switched gears and branched off into countless genres with sub genres that would set the tone and redefine the sound of the 90s. Techno, acid, italian house, madchester, shoe gaze, dream pop, grunge, indie, brit pop, trip hop, drum n bass, hip hop.. not to mention the early 90s was the most jammin rnb was music! New Jack swing! Lol! It was next level! Thr late 90s was great don't get me wrong! However, the creativity wasn't as thriving and original. The late 90s was understated and often nondescript. Post grunge was a horrific insult/ funny joke to the original genre! In fact the late 90s was more or less a continuation of the first half of the decade but more manufactured and polished. I like the rawness and the aesthetic of the late 80s and early 90s. It was a lil moment in time that gen x redefined!
In the late 90's when I entered my teens I discovered Luscious Jackson. And always thought from her look to her voice that Jill Cuniff was just one of the most adorable ladies in the music industry.
I love Luscious Jackson. I love this song. I love this album. This video... I will remember my mental images. No offense intended but my mindscape during this album is a precious thing to me

The vocal harmonies are like cotton candy for your ears.
Love the strafing guitars during the chorus
They were my favourite band for some years. The voices were totally great

The 90's were a fabulous time for music. What a great soundtrack for the teenage years!
RIP Vivian. Still remember watching them perform at a parking lot stage during E3 in the 90's.

I love when they harmonize on this, like angels! I only heard 1 song of theirs on the radio in '96. Glad I get to discover them more today

I just watched Buffy season 4 episode 5 and it took me 10 mins to find the song 😅

I once heard this in the late 90's with the Bass turned up so much it melted my face and I never recovered. ❣
This album was perfect. It was in my car CD player for 3 years straight after it was released.
What a cool band! Great harmony

Reminded me of All Saints on this
They were literally in their 30s when this song/video came out lol

Most underrated band of the 90's!
They really were . I saw them open for beastie boys in… 96? 97? I don’t remember! I always thought they would explode. Uh … sigh… I miss the 90’s!!

LOVE this band SOOOO much.....some of the best undiscovered (for most people) music of the 90-ies...
Beautiful song, of a more calm and beautiful time... 💕
this and other LJ got me through a lot of tough times back in the 90's.and i admit i welled up hearing this classic again
This has been stuck in my head randomly over the last 13 years since hearing it, never gets old, love it :)
Man I still love the simple cute fashion of this era.
? Lol....NOTHINGS changed other than music sux today. Last 2 generations ripping off GenX style to this very day
Just heard this AMAZING song on 88.5 WXPN (Philadelphia) and I HAD to crank it to ear bleeding levels. A great way to kick off 2023! 🤘🤘
I’m from Philly as well. 88.5 kicks ass. Go Birds!!

RIP Vivian Trimble and thank you for the memories. The 90s were an ethereal age, but…..ephemeral.
Always takes me back. Sometimes you miss the worst times of your life.
I heard Naked Eye on the radio and I've been listening ever since. This song would be a hit if they played it on the radio! Mike.
I almost lost it when Cibo Mato got on the bus.
Dude I did lose it :)
yes
But what Rosario Dawson in the first two minutes??
I spit out my coffee
💯
This song came out when I was 16. I REALLY wanted to be on that bus.
This band, this album, their groove, the lush vocals, writing, everything so ❤️ 😍 beautiful!
The 90s, miss everything about that decade...
Feel good hit of the summer. Sometimes it's fun to have fun and if anyone deserved it, it's the ladies of Luscious Jackson
Epic late-90's ram...this shizzit still rocks my pre-game!
It reminds me of All Saints
90s as hell!
Love it!
She has an awesome voice...God did I love the '90s!
You simply cannot get a more late 90s style than this.
I love the Cibo Matto cameo
They definitely know their chicken.
And spoons
