Lyrics:
Take me down, 6 underground,
The ground beneath your feet,
Laid out low, nothing to go,
Nowhere a way to meet.
I've got a head full of drought, down here
So far off losing out, round here,
Overground, watch this space,
I'm open to falling from grace.
Calm me down, bring it round,
Too way high off your street,
I can see like nothing else,
In me you're better than I wanna be.
Don't think 'cos I understand, I care,
Don't think 'cos I'm talking, we're friends,
Overground, watch this space,
I'm open to falling from grace.
Talk me down, safe and sound,
Too strung up to sleep,
Wear me out, scream and shout,
Swear my time's never cheap.
I fake my life like I've lived; too much,
I take whatever you're given; not enough,
Overground, watch this space,
I'm open to falling from grace.

The 90's will always be "ten years ago".
At most
90th were the best.
Best movies & music & comedy & ...
Well, The last time I saw a Native American on the screen was probably in 90th.
It was so good, we killed it.
🥲👴🏼
Damn straight
Seems like last week. Everything was so futuristic. Now they stopped making stuff
For those of us that are old enough, this song evokes memories of a time and world that no longer exists.
Saudade my friend.
Exactly
Truth
Facts my friend, things weren't good they were great.
and for the rest of us, it gives us a channel to escape to that place the best we can
Dear 1990s, We fucked up, will you take us back?
😂👍
Please, baby 🙏 please!😂
I suspect this is meant to be a throw away line. But it is in fact powerful because most of todays semihumans would not be self aware enough or have the humility to even get close to saying this
LOVE this,..
In the big scheme of things, I'm not sure there were many better years than 1997. Relative peace, perfect 90s pop culture vibes, and just fun. Now it seems like it was the last gasp of greatness before everyone kind of went insane.
I can not agree more.
Exactly
Well said. Very well said.
facts 💯
Western hemisphere? Yeah. Elsewhere? There were still many problems. Those grew into bigger global problems. I miss the mid to late 80s into the 90s and early 2000s. But in reality others suffered horribly. Hong Kong went back to China, Al Qaeda blew up that embassy in Kenya, George W. Bush was about to become U.S. president...
Never. Ever. Ever. Do I get tired of hearing this song. Just a stone cold classic!
There is another version of this song that is the raw mix. It is much punchier and I believe a better version that this one.
There's a lot more good stuff on that record!
Exactly this
One can get tired of this. Especially when it was played on the radio once every hour and then once every 30 minutes at night.
Please upvote this so that I never get TIRED! This is a great ‘Good Night’ song🌙 and would also make a beautiful ‘Good Morning’ song☀️ Bless
I am eternally grateful I was 16 in 1994 and 20 in 1998. Those four years were absolutely amazing in music. Every single week there was at least one awesome single
I was 22. Had my own money. Could go to bars. And this music was everywhere. Such a great time to be young.
In 97 I think kelli signed my jeans
Can't imagine what you were going through during this time. I was a bit too young during this time. But, i know in my teens i would remember the song vividly.
Yup. I was 16 in '94 too. Now all I do is look back and wish I could return. Every nostalgic song like this hits hard. Depression gives you tunnel vision. You just wish you could step back into your younger self. Do it all again but through hindsight, skip the parts that hurt the most. The 90s is definitely my go-to for music🤘🏻
What a great decade to be a teenager, musically speaking.
One of those songs that makes you 120% more cooler than anyone on the planet just by listening to it.
Word
Obviously!
Boom!
You the man 😎
Dig it!!TiT!!
Sneaker Pimps, Massive Attack, Portishead, Morcheeba, and Moloko were some of my favs of trip hop. 6 Underground is so relative with me.
We can now add Panchiko to the list
Thank you for the round up! I have looked for good trip hop, but always come up wanting, and just continue listening to Portishead.
Don't forget Smoke City!!!
Thanks for the line up. Always open to cool music.
Yes!!!
CZcams is the closet thing we have to a time machine !
"Don't think cos I understand, I care" - top lyric of 1997
My brain has never left 90's dimension, every time I hear timeless classics from the 90's I am transported back in time/home. 💞👌😊👍
I know what you mean - God I miss the 90's
Same here. Strange how a song/memory can produce actual chills, tears, and what have you.
Couldn't have put it better myself, an era of brilliant brit pop hits from sneaker pimps to sleeper, bluetones, blur, pulp, gene, oasis, longpigs, chumbawanba and many many others, great times
Me with y2k

I remember catching this video on mtv at like 2:00 in the morning, 1996 or 1997. It was one of those rare gems that I knew by just one listen that it would be a favorite for my whole life.
Remember the torture of having to wait until you could get to a record store and buy the cd so you could hear it again?! Looking back, that’s what made it so special :)
I had several VHS tapes full of music videos that I would record in the middle of the night so that me n my sister could jam the next day after school 😅
Finally, an official upload!
A 1990s trip-hop masterpiece.

A classic. The 90’s was a golden era.
This was a great time to be in your 20’s.
This song is still a total vibe after all these years.
I love "total vibe" going to use it in my vocabulary.
😊
I love the way they used the sample from the Goldfinger musical score. Proper nostalgia-inducing song.
Still listening and I'm 64 YO....good things never die!
One of the best songs ever and the original lead singer had an incredible look and voice
Kelly Ali still looks good in 2023!
She quit the band after the debut album. Reminds me of Drivers Seat. A forever song from a band you know of no other songs. I wish I had a whole collection of music at this level.

We could say that Sneaker Pimps are very underrated.. But we just feel very lucky to be able to listen to their music for years...

I'm a 90's kid but this passed me by, it seems. Glad to have found it now, it's so good!
Love the Goldfinger samples. John Barry!
An absolute solidly chill banger. Whenever I need a proper trip back, it’s my song for the journey. Still amazing now…
The sting....of getting old........but the song never will.
LONG LIVE THE 90s.
Waves of nostalgia crash over me when I hear this song!

forty years from now this will sound even better!
People in today's age (2023) have yet to learn how powerful this song was back in the 90s. It indeed was a masterpiece for its time and highly loved.
I have just discovered it 2 weeks ago and I can imagine, it hits pretty hard these days too!
I’m 55 and still love it. Kelly rocks. From an 80s metal head
i discovered it a few months ago, im 20 and i wish i got to experience it when it came out
I'm 19 and I freaking vibe to this! I can visualize myself in 97' NYC chilling in a taxi ride on a rainy night as I gaze upon the skyscrapers, including the World Trade Center. Idk, the year 1997 screams that vision of NYC to me. Pretty dope ngl.
"I swear my time is never cheap." I need to remember this
Wow. Instant flashback to my freshman year of college. I knew so little about the world back then.
yeah, well, the world knows so little about itself, right?
Kelli Ali is absolutely mesmerizing in this video. Those eyes are melting my screen.
Funny that, her name was Dayton when I knew her.
Mine too!
@@HappyBear376 Yep, when they were together I think.
Kelli Dayton
She's absolutely gorgeous 😍
Gorgeous and mesmerizing…and the song is insanely good…but she can’t sing for shit.
Everyone has music that defines their generation. And each generation believes their music is the best. Fair enough. Therefore, please note - This is the music of my generation, and it is the best music. Let me repeat that statement - This is the best music.
Today's young people can listen to whatever they find on net - not necessarily to the music produced recently.
They often do not even listen to radio or watch TV - it was different when I was young - others selected for me what to listen to much more.
I doubt my children will refer to a music produced today as to music of their generation - I doubt they would remember any.
Even if I let our TV tuner on, they switch it to a music channel rotating music from 80s or 90s...
They switch it to this even when I had selected some "party tunes" with today's "generics" (and resampled simplifications of the originals), to feel younger :)
I testify they actually do prefer this older music (under NO pressure) and they are all teenagers... but still it could be they are not representative for the today's young generation...
90s, come back! We miss you, need you!
One of my favorite music videos of all time, I will never get tired of these visuals
Especially Mr. Gorgeous in black. Wow.
ikr.....there's an underlying sexiness about it.
For me, it was the long legs on Laura Prepon behind the glass towards the end of the video that always had my attention, at least when the gorgeous Kelli Ali wasn't also onscreen. God I miss my 20s.
I always did love the parody of suburbia that was a thing in the 90s
It’s hard for peeps these days to realise how huge acts like Tricky, Portis Head Head and Sneaker Pimps were in the Nineties, I never got to see any of them live but I did see Massive Attack and Lamb a couple of times.
I got to see live: Massive Attack, Portishead, Tricky, Lamb, Morcheeba, Ruby, Attica Blues, Beth Orton… great times!
I would've loved to see them live. Also don't forget about Flogging Molly 😁
Trip hop had a pretty brief heyday but its influence stretched everywhere.
Just heard the Pimps latest album. Its great!
Best years.
Best games & best music & movies & best everything.
I remember listening Rock & Industrial & D&B & Rap & ....
We had everything & everything was allowed.

F@ the Future. It's dark & unpleasant.
There were never the better times & will never be.
The acoustic guitar riff in this is so effin’ addictive and gorgeous!! Amazing how a simple guitar riff made this song so inspiring and cool.
Look up "Golden Girl" by John Barry from the Goldfinger soundtrack (yes, the James Bond movie). They've spotted a killer sample and expanded it to its full potential.

For me the 90s were great, I had a prime time life it just sucks that things are bad now. There was peace, I had peace in my family, I had friends, independence, happiness. I just wish I can go back to that time where everyday I had happy to wake up. I want to go back and never come back
Couldn’t have said it better.
This track just make me cry out of joy man...I cant
Remembering a time when I was profoundly unsure of the future, profoundly happy and energetic, and profoundly depressed and anxious. This song fit the state of my mind perfectly. Looking back now we know it was 1997 so it was all going to turn out alright.
I was wondering why this had so few views, and then saw that it was only uploaded a month ago. nice to see theres a CZcams presence for this band at least for this song. when it was released in the states, it was one of those breath of fresh air experiences to hear it, because radio was still a prevalent way to hear music (outside of vh1 and mtv which I didnt watch). it made a big impression even if it wasnt marketed as well as other hit songs. what else to say, always loved the song.
It has 828,279 views as of this date - April 5th, 2023. Not bad for a band who was swallowed whole by No Doubt, Garbage, Celine Dion, and Alanis Morissette. They probably were more popular in Europe, but in the U.S., they got lots of airplay without lots of sales. I didn't hear a peep from them a year after this video came out. But maybe I was just watching the wrong video channel (VH-1).
Man Trip Hop was so awesome when it hit the scene
The last time period to have its own identity not just defined by what technology exists.

One of my all time favorite songs, grew up listening to it throughout the 90s and ever since. It's the smoothest thing under the sun. I just wanted to put this message out there while I'm still alive and say thank you for this fantastic melody.
Can't get over how sonically pleasing this song is. Its truly one of the greats.

If I could just go back to 96. Best time of my life.
Peak 90s 🤗 literally just took me allll the way back after like 30 years of not hearing this song. Wow.
This song is bittersweet at best. It evokes a memory of a better time in this world... before 9/11... and long before Covid.
The clubs in NYC, LA and Miami... The hope for a new future and tomorrow. People danced with each other and nobody was on their phone 24/7.
The female leads in the 90's were really rocking it... and music was shifting gears in 95/96... and yet, here we are, and this song remains the same... super cool, always.
Jonathan, I hear you. I feel similarly, but I also believe that people had the same problems back then as we have today, just caused by different things.
We were on the cusp of a new age, literally astrologically speaking, when you and I were enjoying our fruitful and intellectually nourishing popular culture 30 years ago. I personally swam in it as deeply and joyously as I possibly could.
What I've learned since then is that the ages of our lives, of history, have feathered edges. They overlap as the current one wanes and the next waxes. This creates chaos. This is where we are. The new age really began to mount about a decade ago, and the time of chaos is nearing its nadir. It might not be pretty, but it is as it has always been.
I hope we (people our age, about 45-50) will get to see the promise of our youth fulfilled, as teachers, guides, as those who _remember._ We'll be needed.
Remember, Jonathan.
im grateful to have livved through the 90s, best music ever!

I have the og Abercrombie & Fitch official store music from this time period. It is so good. I worked there.
Such a brilliant track - and a great album. But honestly Kelli is the reason i keep watching this. She ws magnetic, impossibly beautiful and a dental fantasy - they lost everything when they told her to go and sank without trace. But some very special moments

Dental fantasy? I admit that I think there's something up with her teeth but I don't fantasize about them.

the feeling this song gives me is unexplainable
I'm watching this video right now, basically crying, wishing that I could go back to the 90s... that attitude of that era, the griminess and the edginess. Unfortunately, given the way Society is today, we will never have another decade like the 90s again, and it just crushes me.
There will be decades just like the 90's for another set of people, just not us, because in the end it is not the decade we miss as much as it was our youth in that space and time.
@@LastvanLichtenGlorieNo.. I'm sorry. Anyone can miss their youth. The 90s were truly a time of their own that are unable to be repeated because of a global loss of innocence. This song touches me because it brings up feelings of yearning and wanting and aloneness (not to be confused with solitude or loneliness). Things have been speeded up to a point where such a feeling will forever be unknown to anyone who didn't already experience it.
@JennaCrispino Jenna, when we were young at that time, history was literally shifting into a new age. We were the party at the end of an age.
What's happening now is a consequence of that age ending and another beginning. It's always been this way. When two ages crossfade, as one waxes and one wanes, there is a period of chaos.
This is where we are, where we have been for nearly 25 years, but take heart. I promise you the chaos will diminish, but it's going to get messy.
And after, we, meaning our age group, will have the privilege to fulfill the promise of our youth, as ones who remember.
Jenna, remember, okay?
