Rogues are always so sneaky! Glad you broke it down!
Yeah rogues always do it from behind! Gotta watch out for that, that'll get ya! 😂 thanks so much for watching! ❤️
@@Methfu They'll just show up behind you and stab!!
BREAKING NEWS. Thanks to Methu's continued teaching I'm finally understanding how this works!
ALRIGHT that's it buddy... You've had enough, you're drunk on knowledge! Gimme your keys! 😂
Great guide, thanks! I'm looking forward to you releasing gameplay videos as you play through. Very interested to see your perspective on the fights as you play them.
Haha be careful what you wish for mate!! 🤭 My fights are like a circus just with slightly less clowns! 😂 Thanks so much for watching! ❤️
Yep, in that game high elf rogue Shadowcaster (occultist background) was my intuitive choice, as I already knew that Half-Orc dark vision does NOT free us from the in-game lighting issues! Mandatory torch or candle holding is meant. But, my neighbor, who purchased that game, is less afraid that his GF finds out he is into RPG these days. 🤗
Haha shadow casters rule! And I hope your neighbour gets his gf into RPGs as soon as possible, she's missing out! 😂
Thanks so much for watching! ❤️
And there it is! My life is complete. Thanks man ;)
Lmao!! 😂 love it!
fantastic video my friend! huge thumbs up and a full watch from me! enjoy your thursday!
Awesome gameplay dropped a like
Thanks Methu for the in-depth guide, I was looking to build a team for my playthrough and I like your pointers, watched all 5 of them video's you made they were great !!
Aww no way mate! 😊 Really glad it helped! Did you make a similar team for your playthrough? Thanks so much for watching! ❤️
Taking the Ambidextrous feat gives you the ability to dual wield one-handed weapons that are not light. Thanks for the guide! Also it seems the faces were better several months ago! Devs "fixing" things that aren't broken! XD Great guide and thanks for making this!
Lmao yeah I have no idea what they did to the faces in the release and how anyone thought it was an improvement... 😂😂
Love making guides on D&D style games, so it was my pleasure! 🥰 Thanks so much for watching! ❤️
really great guide bro. thanks a ton.
nice upload bro
Incredible Gaming
Good game wellplayed bro 😊👍
Just a quick note as this may have changed from earlier versions but, the Darkweaver's Spider on Wall ability does not function like the wizard spell Spider Climb. In the case of the latter, you can walk up basically any vertical surface. With the former, you're still limiting to only climbable surfaces, you just don't get the normal penalty. It functions the same as the Thief's Second Story Work sans the extra jump distance. Both are made a bit redundant as you can get boots that grant the Spider Climb effect, albeit not until later in the campaign.
Great comment! Will have to test it again when I get a chance. Thanks so much for watching! ❤️
Love your vids mate
Haha thanks, really appreciate the kind words! ❤️
very good content more subs in the way I guess
Thanks so much for the awesome comment mate! I'm releasing my full cataclysm playthrough every day at 12pm, be sure to check it out! ❤️
With the Thief you can use fast hands with a wand which is very powerful, at least in early access it was, not sure if it changed.
Ooo that's a good shout actually! Does bring the thief up a tiny bit to the other subclasses! Thanks so much for watching! ❤️
The problem with shadowcaster is it cannot cast shield while dual wielding so I do not see the point of the subclass.
Yeah in the early access you were allowed to shield whilst dual wielding but if you find yourself in a tricky situation where you think you might be hit can always unequipped the offhand to allow yourself to cast reaction spells.
I mainly use the Shadowcaster to cast protection from evil & good which is great through the whole game and also Blur. Thanks so much for watching! ❤️
@@Methfu Yeah I didn't think of that possibility immediately. I'm started using unequip method and it works just fine, its a bit clunky.
Consider the halfling instead of the elf for archer builds. It’s the same logic behind dual wielding melee weapons for the extra chance to hit and get all the crit damage. The halfling has a good chance to convert 5% of your rolls, which happen to all be misses, into hits or even crits. That elf would get a 0 for damage and the halfling is getting all those sneak attack dice (potentially doubling them on a crit).
Statistically the difference between 1D8 and 1D6 is 1 single damage.
So if you hit half the time with a 5% crit you actually have the following:
5% crit
45% miss
50% miss
Let’s say you have 4D6 sneak attack damage and let’s only look at sneak attacks because nearly all attacks will be that way. That averages to 14 sneak attack damage per attack and 28 per crit (average of 1D6 is 3.5).
All the damage is coming from the sneak attack. The extra chance to land it is what really matters when you consider 100 attacks or 1000 attacks over time.
With the halfling you have something like:
5.25 crit
47.25 hit
47.5 miss
Over time being 2.5% more likely to do full or sneak attack damage rather than 0 damage is more than adding 1 damage 45% of the time and 2 damage 5% of the time.
I haven’t done the numbers on rogue. I did a full comparison of half-orc with 1D8 longbow and the crit damage racial vs the halfling with 1D6 short bow and reroll attack rolls of 1. The halfling won in that and they had the larger bow and also extra crit damage. The elf only gets the larger bow.
Plus the halfling gets the rerolls on all those skill checks and saving throws and in this game there is a version of the halfling with dark vision.
The value of the halfling on an melee build will be diminished. With two attempts to hit (with the main hand and offhand) you will be failing to produce any sneak attack damage less of the time. With the archer version you just have that one attempt each round. And converting those misses into sneak attacks or sneak crits will be huge.
Amazing write up there mate, definitely shines a light onto the halfling nicely!
I was really torn between the two for my rogue was not an easy decision at all! I think what pushed me over to the sylvan elf more was the 7 movement tiles Vs the 5 incase I wanted to flex into melee easier from ranged attacks. There's nothing I dislike more then being out of range by like 1-2 tiles 😂😂 also fey ancestry is pretty juicy there's quite abit of charm effects in this module.
Thanks for the great comment and for watching mate ❤️
@@Methfu awesome. With the next play through I’m going to try a ranger. I’ll give that a try with the elf.
For the rogue I find that the ability to move, plus dash with cunning action, and if needed dash with the main action allows him to be so mobile he’s virtually always where I want him.
For the rest of this play through I’ll consider this though. There ARE times when I’ve had to dash to get an extra tile or two. I just can’t recall how often this happens with the rogue vs anyone else.
Will look into movement more closely!
@@zero11010 I think with the rogue the main thing for me is getting 2 chances on the sneak attack in melee. A lot of the time for some ungodly reason 😂😂my rogue will miss his main hand attack so I want to save the bonus action for the offhand attack incase I miss out on the sneak attack for that round, like insurance I guess. 🤭 Some of the enemies have a habit of running like Forest Gump in battle or flying away like superman! Lol also when I'm using longbow the extra 2 movement tiles give me more options to get behind cover to be able to use my cunning action to re stealth and pop out on the same turn to shoot them. I'm a simp for movement! 😍
You have an Elf inclination... I get it though. The Elf benefits are too good. Any idea when the 1.0 release comes out today? Says 27th (today) on all the forums but doesn't state a time.?
Haha I can't help myself! It's the pointy ears, just does it for me! 🤭 From what I've seen on the official discord they said 5pm CEST which would be 4pm for us Brits! 🥳
@@Methfu not long now then! I am going to follow your playthrough. Obviously there will be commentary but would you include your thinking process and explanations around you are using a specific skill/spell etc. I often just play without thinking too much... Interesting to watch someone who actually understands what is going on...
Half-Orc is underestimated, but human subrace variant (+1 to each attribute aka stat) is even more a secret hint!
you have any cosmetic mod installed?
No these were the faces in the early access. They decided to change the face textures for the 1.0 full release! Lol I kind of miss the old faces a bit... 🤭 Oh and if you meant the armour the elf females and elf males armour looks completely different to each other even though it's the same.
Thanks so much for watching! ❤️
Can you do a wizard build
Waay ahead of ya!
czcams.com/video/7Vno5D76eV4/video.html
Lol it's slightly outdated compared to the sorcerer guide I made for lost valley where I give each spell a rating out of 5.
Hope it still helps mate! 🤞
Have you played spellforce 3 I would be grateful if you had some builds
@@jha7623 Haven't played it yet, looks cool though! Will have to check it out sometime! 😊
With your focus on ranged attacks I wouldn’t think a one round blindness on a couple of targets with a low DC wouldn’t be very worthwhile.
I’m curious to hear how often you use color spray on a 14 INT rogue and get a sneak attack on a situation where you wouldn’t have been able to get one without it (cunning to disengage and attack a different target prevents waste and keeps you at range).
True strike is infamously one of the worst cantrips in the D&D game. The change in Solasta that allows you to attack with the offhand even if you didn’t use your action to attack does make the cantrip a lot better in this game than it is in the real game.
Disadvantage on all attacks from most enemy types for a whole fight at the cost of a single spell slot sounds too good to pass up for me. Protection from good and evil is huge (from the first few levels I’ve gotten to).
I think I also like the ability to learn identify on the rogue who has almost nothing useful they can do with spells in combat anyway. It would allow the wizard to not have to juggle prepared spells to get it. In combat you’re still using shield and protection from good and evil, and outside of combat you have convenience.
Shield is good as a backup with a 25% chance to cause a miss. With so few spell slots you can’t cast it each time you’re hit. You need to meta and think about where you are in turn order, and how many things may be attacking you, and how many of those things have multiple attacks.
I think I would consider mage armor, too. It’s pretty late in the game when you get access to light armor with 13+DEX armor on it. That’s +2 leather or +1 studded leather.
Great write up again mate! I didn't find myself using the colour spray as much as before since they removed the casting with weapons from early access, don't think it was ever meant to be there.
Protection from evil is amazing probably my most used spell on my tank with the rogue.
Definitely think identify would be decent pick also but at this moment in time my wizard has enough level 1 spells the only other spell I would possibly choose over the ritual identify is jump! Lately I haven't found as many uses for jump and have now acquired fly so identify is guaranteed it's spot.
Agree with shield great ability but in big fights need to look at turn order to get the most out of it.
Mage armour might of been a fairly good pick in the early sorak fights but most the time my rogue was playing bow and was the last one to die since keeping him permanently stealthed and far away. Later on Blur is much better to concentrate on.
Great comment! ❤️
@@Methfu I discovered that there is a bug that diminishes the value of getting identify with this character. With the pen and paper game the wizard still needs to prepare a spell to cast it as a ritual (at least that’s how I understand it, didn’t look it up to reference). With this game you just need to have it in your spell book with the cleric in the same situation for rituals (they just need to be known). With that as the case there is virtually no reason to prepare either of those spells. That also means having this as a prepared spell on a support caster to let the high damage mage focus on offense ends up not working out.
So at least for now the only value in identify on a caster rogue would be in a group that doesn’t otherwise have access to the spell. My bad for the suggestion. Still learning the current game mechanics.
@@zero11010 Wow that's a great shout! I had no idea about that bug! I feel like your suggestion is still completely valid though since it depends on the user if they want to abuse the bug or play more legitimately! Really great find though, thanks for bringing it to my attention! ❤️
Nice Vidio friends. Let's be friends bro
