There's not a lot of video information on supercharged NAs, as someone who dreams of this setup I really appreciate that someone took the time to make a good video and proper review. This really cemented in my long term plans for my NA.
I'd really like details of this exhaust setup as well, it sounds great and not stupid loud
As far as I know, I'm the first to rotrex an rb25de neo. No information out there so had to engineer it all from scratch. It is faaaantastic I must say. I am definitely not sorry that I didn't just throw a turbo'd engine in like everyone else.
@@breaking-the-fiction-addic4185 very interesting! I've been considering going a rotrex on my rb30e! Haven't seen another one yet.
It's in the description
But he broke a gentleman’s agreement not to mod it xD. Awesome car
For real tho, if you are selling a car and say "you arent allowed to mod it", then why are you selling it? When the money hits the bank, he shouldn't care. None of the PO's business what you do with your car.
@@zandot4776 you can make whatever terms and conditions you want when selling as long as its not illegal. dude probably had an attachment to it and didnt want to see some dumb ass teen stance the fuck out of it
"the gentlemen's agreement" was not to exceed 270 HP. At least in rally manufacturers culture. The idea is that research and development had far exceeded typical power gains in a short time and to keep things interesting they limited the out right power the engines would make in favor of more technical efficiency gains for accomplishment. In other words everyone could just engineer for more power, but making one that makes that power by fine tuning the characteristics of an engine, that is an accomplishment.
Great video dude. Love the sounds, love the setup, overall great build and inspirational to all who are building their miata :)
Fantastic video guys! Thank you so much. There is not a lot out there on rotrex set ups
i liked the intro and info section style alot. very cool miata
More miata reviews please, this was well done. The refined smoking tire experience right here!
Awesome brotha! Excellent build! Definitely five stars ⭐️
Awesome review and thanks for this I've been eyeing this kit for a while but there is not much video wise about the NA rotrex kit!
I need this type of Set up it sounds so good i can feel the pull through the video
Dream car for me right there! I'm planning on getting a Miata in the next couple of years and will go supercharged for two reasons: linear power/lack of turbo lag and ease of install. Sick car man!
Man, now this is awesome! Looks hella clean! Lmao the story of him buying the car! 😂😂
JOHNNY BOY is such a great kid!!!
Header Back..! Nice!!!!
What’s your winter beater? Ha ha
Oh, I can fit!!! & I love the VH PLAD.!.!.
This is the perfect Miata build imo. If I won the lottery I would send my Miata to this guy the next day
This is really making me want to do this kit on my 96 lol
that thing has like turbo and supercharger noises, damn I love it!"
This is awesome! I've just picked up a 1.6L NA6CE V-Special, really want to do something to the engine (as everyone does) but no idea what to do.
Rotrex seems like a good idea...
Love the green Seiko Alpinist on what I think is a strapcode jubilee. A man of taste.
Glad I'm not the only one that noticed. The SARB017, like the Miata, are just iconic Japanese workhorses.
jesus with glasses straight spittin fire
Looks very nice
Rotrex Miata for the win.
This car is sweet
Hey! Can you tell me what pinch weld height you've got those Xida XLs at? Excellent video.
These noises rustle my jimmies
I am doing a somewhat similar build in my car. I would love to get a few more details than were in the video. I am doing a 99bp4w in my 97 na8 with a c30-84. Should be done soon so this makes me super excited
🤙also in Michigan. I love this car
Great car! I have a NC3 with a rotrex. Love the sound of your blowoff!
What BOV is this?
love the car i want one now i gave a cx3 and wanna supercharge it too lol
I want this man to help me put together a SC NA miata.
Still need to get a rotrex on my K20 si so bad.
stock NAs are cool and all but after getting a WRX, I have the sudden urge to supercharge or even turbo my 95 M. Forced induction rules !
Wish I was close enough to bring ya my ms6 or ms3
From my experience, the 6 speed isn't "mushy" but it's not as smooth as the 5 speed. Its kinda notchy and fights you a little when you don't rev match just right. I'm sure a really low milage or a rebuilt unit with fresh synchros would be better. Also Ford motocraft fluid is a must.
I have a 6 speed and an auto. My brother has a 5 speed, I like the 5 speed most
'99 6-speed (10AE) with 110k miles, a brass bushing and weighted knob feels fantastic, nice blend of notchy yet smooth.
After adding a lightweight flywheel it's even smoother, I'm inclined to believe the notchy complaints come from inexperience in feeling the synchros engage through the shifter and/or impatient shifting habits.
Overall much more fun to drive with better acceleration and reliability to boot.
Dude 90 degree and humid actually sounds like luxury being from florida lol. Its like 98 and 100% humidity rn. You MUST HAVE A/C lol
great vid pal have watched it over and over. What's the owners insta would love to see more of the car in Ireland and looking at building a rotrex into my show eunos will be the first in Ireland.

I'm surprised this isn't more popular it seems superior to a turbocharger in a lot of ways
Turbos are superior in most cases but I just like the wine of the supercharger
Turbos are more fuel efficient and overall better, more reliable
@@X_DD not true at all
I feel like the only reason turbo is more popular is because it makes more power and more kick in the back, people are looking at the numbers and always want more and more. In most cases superchargers are similar to turbos, similar cost, similar reliability, but more versatility due to the lack of turbo lag
turbo kits make far more power for the money, and the availability of parts and info is a lot better as its been done a lot more than supercharging on this platform. im really happy track dog makes these rotrex kits now so you can call up the manufacturer for new parts, data, issues etc.
So would you not turbo your miata at this point? Knowing how supercharged one drives?
So begs the question.... Rotrex or FM turbo?? :)
Hey Patrick! How does this car compare to the supercharged NA your brother built power wise? I know that the NB2 engines are vastly superior in terms of efficiency and usable torque, does VVT actually make a massive difference when combined with boost? It's a dream of mine to have a VVT swapped supercharged NA like you guys had, although I will probably resort to buying another Miata to swap, my current NA8 is pretty clean and I feel bad modifying it haha. I wish I could have bought your brother's old car, I hope it's being well taken care of! Cheers!
The NB engines are a great upgrade! Naturally aspirated you'll notice a huge difference between early 1.6L and 1.8L, forced induction they can feel similar. I bet if you drove them back to back you could notice a difference though, I'd imagine VVT makes a good bit more power with the same setup
@@pattyboi My long term plan is to get a good NA shell to swap an engine into and add a Rotrex C30-84, so I think I'll go with the VVT engine since the wiring is fairly straightforward. I think VVT will help a lot with low end torque, which seems to be a weakness of the rotrex setups. Your old videos on the supercharged NA are inspiring 😎
Have you had any issues with the rotrex?
Are there any indication times available ( 0-60, 0-100)
5.4 seem alright 2 up
Is it sick? "It's so sick. Gotcha". UTK.
Okay I'm no engineer, but "it makes 190 something ft-lbs of torque" and the rods can handle 200 something (i forgot exact numbers). Isn't that including the supercharger losses? So the rods wouldn't be good for 200 something torque to the wheels because the supercharger robs some of the torque going to the wheels?
It would be measured In crank power for what the internals can handle
Typically turbo guys are 220+ft/lbs at the wheels reliably.
do you think his car is faster than yours from a roll race? just because it has less torque
Honestly it's hard to say, a turbo set up feels much faster because of the powerband and torque. I think they would actually be pretty close but this rotrex car is a bit more high strung. Might start to pull away at high speeds
I wanna supercharge mine
Where ya from? If you want to review my 2022 veloster N DCT just holler at me man!!!
you near detroit?
If you're in the metro detroit area and have a modded car HMU!!!
Took me a while to figure out who the guy behind the camera sounds like. Close your eyes and just try to tell me that's not Ben Lin from Gears and Gasoline.
Did they really pick the smallest supercharger they possibly could for that thing?
A smaller one wouldn't have the silly lag. I couldn't believe they'd be that incompetent to not understand centrifugal compressors and put too big of a pulley on too small of a supercharger unless there literally wasn't a smaller one made.
Its the largest of the c30 class? Its whatever fits the bracket. Pretty good sized super charger for a 1.8l
Do you happen to know the owners instagram?
