That stuck truck is an example of the all too common idea.... "I got four wheel drive. I can go anywhere!"
All it does is get the fool stuck further in the boonies.

Thin aluminum tubing with a cardboard reinforcing liner - sounds like a workable driveline configuration to me! That rock sure put a crimp in the driveline. I'm surprised Chevy didn't have their PR people out there doing a photo shoot of their product in such beautiful, rugged surroundings. The caption could have been, "Rugged Chevrolets will get you into the most beautiful, desolate country to get broken down in." Your work is really time-intensive in this back country - that job must have taken you at least 4-5 hours just to get to it, and haul that truck out of there. Clever fix for the transfer case fluid, and good commentary.

Greetings again from Aus. No-one can say that your truck is pretty, but by crikey, it is a beautiful machine that is tailor made for the jobs that you do.
However, after watching todays episode I have realised that the truck is only half of the equation. You, Sir, are just as important to this combination. There is almost a symbiotic relationship between you and the truck becoming a single entity, with each half doing their speciality and they would be nothing without each other.
Congratulations on building that relationship and well done with this job.

aluminum driveshafts have their pros and cons, Pro: they are lightweight and have less mass to spin, Cons: they explode when you drop them or whack them on anything. great recovery Rory trail mater makes some of the work look really easy, but i chalk that up to skill and preparation, stay safe brother

Again a nice recovery in a beautiful landscape. Glad the sun started shining. Loved the joke about the bottle, that you can drain it at the shop. Having fun while working is important.

Excellent recovery! That was a great trail fix with the plastic bottle to keep the oil from dripping out all the way home.

I enjoyed this video. And I like watching other people crawling in the dirt in the cold fixing stuff. Just as long as I don't have to do that. And I learned how to seal the transfer case so that it doesn't all leak out on the way out. I wish I could give you more than just one thumbs up on this.

I recently was able to come out west to Grand Canyon and Moab area for vacation partially because of seeing the views from your channel. I never fully understood the distances involved with your recoveries. Even things that people say are right next to each other are 2-3-4 hours at 70 miles an hour. Until I was out there the distances you deal with are unreal to us easterners.. I did get to drive by your shop but could not convince my wife to stop and take a picture late at night. Hats off for your driving and skills.

I think this one was the first time I had a chance to watch you and trail mater in action since our chat at the outdoor expo in Sandy. It was great to meet you and snag some pictures of the truck. Didn’t take any of you, lol! Added a whole new perspective to your videos after “kicking the tires” on Mater. Cheers ol’kid.

Sitting in the middle of a late July heat-wave, your opening scene looks alluring.
And if that’s GM’s idea of a 3/4 ton drive shaft, I’ll pass.

Trailmater Is a very capable rig; truthfully we'd expect nothing else. But Rory is possibly the best recovery (and off road) driver you'll see. It's no wonder that other off road recovery specialists ask for his help from time to time. Too bad about that Chevy truck.
