Love the Harbor Freight clamps. People say never buy from there. I see you use lots of things from there. It's not the tool but the skill behind the person using the tool. Wish I had half your talent. I watched the guitar making videos too. Whats up with that. Skilled woodworker and can also rock it? Dang!!! My hero!!!

What some people might not understand about making 2 - 45º angle cuts to make a 90º degree angle is just make a cut and flip one board. Is it at 90º? How to tell is that the inside and the outside corners will match. If they don't match, adjust your blade or guide and try again. Any angle cut will create a 90º angle if one part of the board is flipped. If the cutter or miter tool is not set at a 45º angle, you will have a nice 90º angle but the dimensions will be off. If you try just one cut on your miter saw at 40º, the opposing angle is 50º but the frame won't be worth using. :)

So much effort and hard work you put in every project irrespective of how big or small the project is. I have so much respect for you. I have a little tip, even though you might not need it now since this video was from 2 years ago, it is about getting a small scale level you mentioned, I was just saying you could use your smart phone for that. There are apps on both Android and iOS platforms that make use of your phone's gyroscope to give you a 3 way level. Try it, you might find it interesting.

Love the framing technique and how you made the well for the cookies and the resin.
If you were still wanting to reinforce the frame, I think your easiest bet would be to use a forstner bit on the back of each miter joint and cut a hole, then drop a circular cut out inside this way you don't really see it and you don't have to touch the face. (Saw David Picciuto do it once and it seems like a really good idea).
    Excellent work as always!

I got around the problem of no dado stack capability and rough bottom/narrow kerfs by buying a flat topped tooth 1/8 inch wide blade. Next time if you want it lighter, try painting the background white or silver instead of black, it will reflect the light! I'm making a table using a similar method and I dyed my resin blue, it likes gemmy and sweet! But it's dark when not backlit, so I'm putting a light underneath. :P

made the Black-eyed cookies look too dark ? but as it is everything looks nicely balanced to me and the black eyes are really nicely
dispersed around the frame , and the light coloured frame really ties it together very well ! :-) good job kiddo ,

I really like how this turned out! And I love how you were able to make it without having to buy anything (well except for the spray paint ; ) and I'm going to have to make that jig for cutting logs!

I like it. I cut some disks before and i put my stop about 6 inches from the cut line on the sled. I made a 5 1/2 inch piece and would put that against the stop. Then put the log against the 5 1/2 inch piece...remove the 5 1/2 inch piece without moving the log... and you can cut perfect 1/2 inch pieces without kickout worry. :-) Or you could make a flip up stop that is hinged. Butt the log against the stop and flip your hinged stop out of the way. No happy dance :-(
