    Hi Phil, just an incredible perspective and build. It was so great you included all of the references from the book during the build. And the "less is more" cinematography, as well as the incredible engineering that went into the Bruce shark animated prop. No wonder it had some mechanical issues being quite complex. A great piece that helps explain the production aspect of the move.🙂

    That’s a really inventive design Phil. Most people might have reached for the resin pour but I love the underwater effect you’ve achieved.
    I’ve got my Bruce in order and hopefully not too long to wait now. I also hope it makes it to the uk in the right amount of pieces!
    Great job. I admired Uncle Lou’s bravery in submerging the mouth but for me you have to display those teeth!

    a really stunning build Phil they all were, good job it's not a competition because it would be a draw, I don't think it would have been Diesel fuel in the tanks Phil, probably just water

    Looks good even with Quint being off scale. It makes it look like a man being attacked by a real shark rather than a movie monster. Of course a real shark would never sink the back end of the Orca. But it makes a cool looking project.

  • @MrChief101
    @MrChief101 Před 16 dny +1

    Every detail is really well done-- scale issues aside... (though I wonder if a 3D Quint is not available in this post Broadway Show era-- ?). The collaboration with Mr. Fink is well worth the effort. I agree with most of your decisions about using lighter colors on the inner shark.
    Here's where I have to get picky. It can't all be rosebuds strewn in moonbeams... I find the boxy top o' the water and under the water to be interesting but still odd. What I think that decision did was to lead down the wrong path for the "eating Quint" angle. What I don't "see" and no matter what you say about that's how they actually shot the scene-- the chomped ship set doesn't look right 5 feet off the water. That "dock" or whatever it's supposed to be-- doesn't sit in the water. It's just there. Nothing supports it from below. So it looks odd.
    And there it is-- "odd!"
    In the stills you showed, the set looks awash with water. At the waterline and not up in the air. Now-- you may say, well, that particular shot in the movie *was* indeed shot on a dock, elevated in the air. Yes, but we are seeing the moment in time "smeared" if you will, over a short length of time. The overall impression is of the shark attacking the back of the boat. Which, with Quint's feet in water was... in the water.
    Now-- if you have a set shot where the shark is airborne out of the water and the boat is up there with him-- show us!
    Mind you, this is to take nothing away from the total effect. Nor the level of skill at work here-- water effects are terrific, the color pallets of the shark and boat are similarly terrific. Even with my carping (--he said "CARPing"!!!) the display is impressive. I do like the 10K inkie -- there's one pic where that wash of light really pops the shark. I do suggest the clapper board be moved down to one side. Credit is great but that thing's huge.

    Ah yes… that famous moment when Quinn fights a Regular-Sized shark!
    There’s No Way he could Ever be swallowed!
    I bet that would have greatly helped the positioning issue!
    Nice work though…

  • @angelohernandez6060
    @angelohernandez6060 Před 18 dny

    The fig looks out of scale. He's too big. The shark in Jaws was a huge shark and Quint would have been swallowed whole if he hadn't been bit into on the way down.
