Twitter and Facebook should shut down for two days without letting anyone know. When it gets turned back on, see how many people lost their minds over it. Only to show how attached people are to social media and that it’s a huge problem with society.
I hate to admit this, but my phone addiction has poured into my son as well. I used to read 2 novels a day growing up and now I can barely read two chapters without wanting to pick up my phone. This is so awful
Starting to see a pattern. Everyone when told smartphone use is an addiction immediately gets on the defensive and states the positives to it, completely ignoring that it is completely rewiring how our brain handles neurotransmitters.
There waa internet way before smartphones. When I had a question 20 years ago, I just remembered about it the next time I went on the internet. There is VERY LITTLE extra added value of carrying it with you at all times, while at the same time the costs are ENORMOUS.
Yep. I used to carry a piece of paper in my pocket and write down anything I had questions about and wanted to research. It always turned out that by the time I got to a computer I had lost interest in like 75% of the monkey mind thoughts that I had written down. And those were just the ones that I wrote down. Now, every single thought that pops up gets immediately Googled or CZcams'd
I literally searched up "Phone Addiction Conspiracy" and Joe Rogan was the first one to show up. No one better for this matter, and I haven't even started the video!
If I could I would put this whole comment section on r/phonesarebad. Yes, most of the stuff he was saying was correct, but oh boy, so many boomers and similars here. Some of you are going as far at not hating only phones but hating a person for only possessing a phone, or even worse (God save them) *holds them*. Ok seriously this is why society is shit. And if you look into it, paople who know what they are doing with technology are NOT the targets or victims of those "companies". It is ppl who don't know shit about anything they do with their phones/desktops, people that have no idea what to trust and people that think that they know everything - people like that are feeding the marketing, and are the reason we all have to be aware now, as they are the easiest targets, are targeted, and have started it all in the first place.
Do not agree in regards to cameras being a red herring. AI can utilize facial recognition in order to track - as a result, an operator isn't even needed. AI can send notifications once a person's image is captured.
I think he's just saying that microphones are a much bigger issue because they're not dependent on being pointed in the right direction. Cameras can't do much while in a pocket but microphones can
Weinstein: The addiction to phones which is prevalent nowadays, is a good example of how not controlling the markets can be harmful to humans. Rogan, the senseless addict: baawww you focused on the negative aspects of the phones Yeah, because he was making a point, you digital junkie, and the point wasn't about the phones, it was about the markets.
I have a basic, old, and crappy phone LOL I'm happy with it. I'm not constantly on my phone, nor do I blame the phone companies for people being so glued to their phones. I don't hold myself up on a pedestal either (I don't see myself as better than anyone), and I can see why people pay so much attention to cell phones. A cell provides lots of useful information, and it's entertaining as well. I feel lucky that I grew up during the 90s in a time where cell phones we'rent everywhere. My attention went to doing hobbies and being apart of clubs. I think it's really weird when I see a group of friends who are all on their cell phones texting other people, and I bet when they're with these other people their texting this same group they're presently sitting with LOL
I've been saying that lately I've noticed a lot of ads that are very specifically related to a conversation I'll have with someone about a topic or thing that I haven't searched for or watched videos of or anything, wondering "how the fuck do they know..." I think the microphones are already tapping in. Anyone else have this experience?
I ate some bad fish recently, which as it turns out can be extremely dangerous. I was feeling a little funny about 20 minutes after I ate it. I looked my symptoms up on my phone and it basically said you might be in for the worst day of your life. Make yourself throw up. Now. I did and my symptoms were minimal. I'd take the deal. 🙋♀️
Joe Rogan sounds like he is kinda trying to knock the guys points because I know that he himself is addicted to his phone but is really getting your information instantaneously rather then looking through a book or using your thinking and thought process not much more awarding ?
And then all of the sudden, people are finally off their addictions on their phones when you need them to answer their phone when you're delivering them something or when it's work related or just a very time-sensitive situation, then they are all the sudden off of their phones Double standards at its finest
Their level of consciousness has been shrunken down so much, they can't even figure out what is the real problem. It seems like it should make them happy, but it makes them unhappy, it puts them in a crappy low state of consciousness, so low that even the way's in which they think to try to figure out's what going on are weak an incapable of exposing their shift in consciousness. conceptually, you feel the experience of the cell phone should be good, but in actual experience it is bad. Your mind can come up with a million reasons why it is good, and not a lot for why it is bad, and yet in actual experience for whatever reason it causes an overall weak level of consciousness, decreased sense of feeling alive, and a million other ways to describe not feeling good. Why would you go with what you think about something over the actual experience of it in reality?
Phones would be amazing if they actually used them for advancement and learning, but people are not using them for that reason. Most use to entertain themselves by having to know what everybody is doing, or playing games and of course sex.
Listen, I know a guy that hasn't left his computer since the 70's. So many people are still addicted to TV. Device or gadget fascination has been with us for ever.
The new thing about phones is mobility, it follows you. You can leave the house and avoid the TV. You can leave the house and still not avoid your phone.
What we obviously need is the government to tell us what apps we need because they know everything. bring back the USSR because people can't be responsible to make their own decisions

Of course joe loves the "sheer access to information" a phone or device can offer him... He's nothing with out the internet. His constant regurgitation of internet information that he passes as his own wisdom is overwhelming
the problem with phones and the ability to obtain all information at any moment? you never really own it. with books. its yours, on the shelf. you can see it anytime you want...... with phones? have to have a battery, need internet access. then you can see it. you want to own it? sure..... get a printer, power, paper. and print it..... OR buy the book..

SickMuffins amen
a few weeks ago whatsapp crashed for like an hour and people were freaking out!
twitter/shitbook shutdown would send people into a wild frenzy!
Sure, why not
SickMuffins hell let's go a step further and shut down the internet for awhile
Its a good idea but the companies would lose too much if they did that. They are too greedy and dont care about you.

Humans need connection, phones give people a sense of connectedness in a very disconnected world.
there's a fine line between needing connection and simply being needy and I think I see people crossing it every day
They only make you more disconnected from reality though. Phones just create fantasy! The world is disconnected cuz of phones!
