- My 1957 Chevrolet Sport Coupe 2 door hard top. 327 engine out to 331, Muncie 4sp. Drove it on Hot Rod Power Tour 2011 over 3000 miles round trip. Acrylic enamel paint, interior, engine, etc. were done over 25 years ago. I put a 3.31 rear gear in for the Power Tour but it only takes about an hour to put the 4.11 back in!!
WoW, you could make a movie about this car. Chevy really nailed this one, never get tired of seeing them. Even showed us the garden.🤠
Beautiful 210 2 Door Hardtop. Had a 210 2 Door Hardtop growing up as a kid, still trying to track ours down... very rare combination of a very popular car...
otchster Thanks, this one was a straight front axle drag car from the mid 60s til 1985.
This popped up in my feed today, gonna buy a lotto ticket today, feelin lucky
Wow this is an oldie vid Joe! Still have the 57, still looks the same!
So sweet. Looks like you did an awesome job on the body and paint.
Thanks Jerry, only car I have that I didn't paint. lol The paint is Jet Black acrylic enamel that was sprayed in 1985. It has been sanded and buffed and I need to touch up a couple spots but still shows very well for what it is.
That is beautiful. 25 year old paint... Holy Cow.. Simply perfect. She starts right up and purrs like a kitten. Thanks for the video.
So refreshing to see a non-BelAir hardtop!!
Thanks Matt, then there's the folks that ask me if I'm going to put the rest of the trim on....lol
I have a 210 myself and the same thing but I wont be putting anything on it that the General didn't put on it originally nice car ceedell
Thank you, less is what makes the 210 stand out.
I guess one could find the stats but which is the rarer car the 210 hardtops or the Bel Air hard tops ???
Thanks! As far as all the old cars I've owned, this one is exceptional.
The cam really sounds perfect.
I always tell my wife we don't need the radio on with the music the cam makes! lol
Absolutely beautiful
wow that is a beautiful car, thankx for showing,tc
now that really nice car!!! love tha back seat. its better than just coming off the show room. thanks.
59 & 60, one of my favorite steering wheels. That story brings a tear to my eye to!!!
Had to revisit this beauty
Thanks Joe, we've been enjoying it this season with things pretty much back to normal.
What A Sweet Ride like to see going down the road and it sounds awesome
I love a slick,shiney, black car!
That is a perfect example of a 57 chevy.
Thanks for the video. :-)
Love seeing 210's for a change!!!
matt zehentner I've had people ask if I'm going to add the Bel Air trim, I tell them no way!
Sounds cool! Can't wait to see you doing the 59 to.
Sweet rid Wendell! Thanks for sharing!
Looks good for the older stuff you used most time the laquer primer get spots under it and all stuff comes back looks nice you did a good job.
great video love the car later
Ah, the 59 Impala steering wheel! I had a '60 Impala wheel in my 57 convertible back in the day, basically the same wheel. A custom touch that adds class without being cheesy. Thanks for the memory. Mine only had a Hurst 3 speed, with a 59 283 (stock). I had it when I graduated from high school, when the car was only 10 years old. My dad hit a pole while I was in the Navy and sold it...boohooohoooo.
Thanks! When I'm at a show I love it when the guy points out the back seat to his gal !!....she usually just grins.
That set up has been gone since the mid 80s and it drives & rides so much better on my old back! lol
holy smokes, that is gorgeous
I just luv this car
Thanks Joe, it's a really good car and it does get driven!
Thanks, AWESOME ! That black paint is beautiful, my favorite color too lol And those cragars, fits perfect !! I thought i had see those silver panels like the bel-air on the other video :-)Thanks again
What no etch. no epoxy, no 2k high build, no 2 stage how can that be.
Seriously you have a very very nice car and I'm envious.
Nice!!! Very Nice!!!
Thanks! I love your wagon!
thank you very much, I still think acrylic enamel is more durable and requires less upkeep than urethane base clearcoat. The drawback is you can only sand and buff straight colors.
That is a sweet ride :)
My favorite car for years. Never heard of "sport coupe `57". Looks like a 2 door hard top to me.
The sport coupe is what Chevrolet called the 2 door hard top. The 4 door hard top was the sport sedan.
Love how that thing sounds. I wanna see it with a straight axle !!!
thumbs-up looks great still
Thanks Chuck, put about 150 miles on it yesterday!
dude thats one bad ass car! i will build a 55 or 57 after this cadillac project! Keep an eye out for a completely rusted out one for me ;)
Thanks, there's still some good 55-57 buys out there ya just have to look harder than you used to.
Nice
You've looked after that shoebox real good...
Man oh man what a 57
It's a fun one!
ceedell No ddoubtmy friend
BAD ASS !!!!
I wish I knew how many gallons of laquer primer and acrylic enamel I've sprayed over the past 30 some years and honestly I've never had an issue with the products. The problem most folks had was spraying too heavy per coat and trapping the solvent before it could evaporate out, today urethanes-base /clear is just easier. Time will tell if my recent b/c work will last as long! lol
its a beauty
Had a black 210 four slammer hardtop. I'm such a dumbass Traded it for a nova cause my buddies made fun of the 4 doors, was a 70 ss nova, however
Dang that sounds fun. If you ever do the power tour again let me know, I live right near Muskegon.
my favorite car 57 chevy. sharp
sweet!
I did Power Tour in 2011 and drove it from Ohio to Coco Beach Florida to start, then did the tour back north to Muskegon then ended in Detroit and then a finish for the Long Haulers at the GM Milford Proving Grounds, then back to Ohio, a week and a half and 3030 miles total.
Them Cragors look vintage! lol This '57 is a tribute to what would have been a mid 60s high school gear head's dream car. Yes, the 210 2 door hard top sport coupe is rare with only 22,631 being produced compared to 166,426 Bel Air sport coupes.
awsome
Thanks, it's been fun!
Yessir, your 57' is the one, good job, could you tell me your wheels sizes front and rear(15 x ?) and tire sizes front and rear? I'd appreciate it because you nailed it, thank you
Yes, products used in the job were laquer primer, laquer spot putty glaze, sealer, and Jet Black Centari Acrylic Enamel with hardener then sanded and buffed.
Perfection!
+HORNET6 Thanks!
+ceedell you're very welcome...gotta say how much better the car looks on the Appliance 5 spokes rather than the over wheeled cars out there.
+HORNET6 I don't like the big wheels either, old school for me....but I remember when old school was new school! lol
that is sweet
Thanks, glad you liked it.
Thanks Mark!
Thanks Rob.
Thanks Hanson!
like new money love the color
Thanks Larry, black's my fav. color! This car was restored in the mid 80s. That's an old acrylic enamel paint job.
blacks mine too
I would to, but it drives so good......I might have to put together a '55 straight axle gasser!!
Thanks!
good car.
Thanks
Thanks for the compliment and watching.
Thanks!!
I'll make up date when get to it.
By straight color I mean no metallic or anything in the paint, just the solid color. Acrylic Enamel is cheaper and requires no extra labor. Paint preference is an opinion, the black acrylic enamel on this 57 was sanded and buffed after it was applied over 25 years ago. It has only been waxed since and hasn't been buffed again. You be the judge.
rare car
The ETs are good looking wheels but if I make a change on the '57 it will either be to a set of cast Cragers with the 5 gray center spokes or a set of 15" black steel wheels with pie crust cheater slicks on the rear and bias plys on the front with small dog dish '57 hub caps.
Yeah I dident no what made it do that but like my grad pa 59 that be geting redone with 2k primer and idk if he go with enamel are base clear it has small spots comeing back up on it but it just on the fenders but when he done it in 97 he used laquer primer and acrlic on it you can wet sand and buff and the spots thay go away but come write back it been wet sanded intell you cant no more lol . But it be next in line after my 67 done.
Did you use asealer over that primer are any thing?
Gorgeous! Did you drive it out to Muskegon?
Have to do a short driving vid with my wife's help, just too hard to vid, steer, and shift at the same time!!
Could you tell me your wheels sizes front and rear(15 x ?) and tire sizes front and rear? I'd appreciate it because you nailed it, they fill the wells nicely, thank you for your time
Sorry about the late response, Front 15 x 6 with 215 75 tire and Rear 15 x 8 with 275 60 tire.
ceedell thank you, your 210 has a great stance, did you use stock leafs and coils? Doesn't look like a 2" drop. Also, if you have front discs, which kit did you use? I like the way the front tires don't stick out 3/4 or 7/8 like most kits. I forgot to ask earlier what offset you used on your front and rear wheels? Is this the reason they don't seem to stick out? Again, thank you for your time and sorry for all the questions, but you just nailed it, I've played your video over and over and showed others, good job!
How many 210 2dr Hardtops were made?..can't be many and oh yea your 57 is a beauty !
Thanks, there were 22,631 6 cylinder and V8 210 sport coupes built as compared to 260,401 four door sedans and 162,090 two door sedans so it's a low number comparatively. There were 553,378 total 210s built.
Thanks !
beautiful car, btw title of the music in the back?
Thanks, I don't remember who that is....sorry.
Yes, or Midnight Express....sponsored by Midnight Auto Parts!!! lol
That baby is so sexy my dream is to own all three tri-fi bellairs
So far I own a 56 210 hard cops are hard to find for a decent price
Thanks Joshua, I like your thinking!
What's wrong with it
lol How can that be, I know what you're saying! Thanks
:)
B ba bad to the bone
A company called ET makes some 60's correct 5 spokes that look better than Cragers and they come in 17" as well. Come on, You know 17" would look so much better. The ET straight spoke cast aluminum rims are classic and affordable. Polished and chromed 17" would look incredible.
I love spending other people's money.
The cast iron exhaust manifolds tell me you are an intelligent person.
Put that straight axle back on it!
Alright children, take your spattering elsewhere or get banned.
That is one awesome looking car my friend! Great attention to detail.
Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks Rick!
