Forgotten 1957 Chevy - Will it Run and Drive After 30+ Years??

- History : This 1957 Chevrolet model 150 was told to be restored in New York in 1987 with new paint, new interior and new white wall tires. It has a unknown history before 1987. It was then sold in 1988 and the new owner just drove it home and parked it 2-3 years in a garage, Then it was made a new copper fuel line to the carburetor and driven to a outdoor pit where it was cleaned with compressed air for sand and dirt in frame and undercarriage and sprayed under with a white spirit oil mix. The new carpet was found to be glued to the floor and under was rust holes covered up by plates and asphalt melt sheets done by the one who restored and sold it... The chevy was good looking but at the same time considered to be a project car and was not roadworthy so it was decided to store it for later, bodysafe wax was then applied on chrome and a thin layer of oil on paint, it was then driven to a better garage and parked over 30 years where this video starts. It has not had lisence plates for over 35 years, and never been washed or started since, the only maintenance done was filling air in tires only a few times... Believe it or not! But 2023 is here, and time has come to see what it will take to make it run again.

Yeah, my brother had a 57 Chevrolet. He would put me on his lap and let me drive home from my brothers house which was about a mile away in Anderson Indiana. Times never forgotten.❤ I miss you brother.
Hands down, my most favorite car ever! My Grandfather had a 5 door wagon that I wanted to fix up when I got old enough to. Unfortunately, it slowly rusted out in his back yard, and he sold it for parts. This one is in amazing shape! Wouldn't take much to bring it back to top form. 👍😁
Nice to see that I am not the only 57 Chevy owner who has had to bust a few knuckles and get a car back to running . It can get a bit frustrating at times.
Beautiful car. Loved seeing you get it back in working order. Also love that there’s no talking. Enjoy that machine. What a treat!
Awesome work. I like these types of videos where no one is talking. You do great work.
One of the best car designs ever.
Fantastic car. Well worth sorting!!
Awesome body ! I had a 57, was bronze with a white top, 283.
Thx for showing all the real ways for a back yard guy like me!
You’re a very lucky man to find this 57 Chevy two door post in great Shape,Still runs sounds good after all the work you put in to it did a good job .I wish it was my mine ,wishful thinking but anyways thank you for sharing my friend.
Nice to hear only background music. ASMR I love it.
Ahh, sweet memories. My Dad bought a brand new Chev Bel Aire 4 dr. sedan in June of 1957. It had a 283 V-8 with a 4 barrel carb. Oh how i loved that car. It had a "Sierra Gold and Beige" two tone paint job. What a beauty. Wish I had it now. But,...I do have a pristine 1967 Chev Caprice with a 350 cu in engine and auto transmission. Love it too. They just don't make 'em like that no more.
Love the "Tri-Five Chevy's"! Good luck with her.
He cranked that 1957 starter like he has ten of them new in a box.
Everything I see you do is old school, and, I really appreciate it! I'm a 74 yo mechanic, and, I am enjoying this! Keep it up!
No talking, no watching. Good luck to you.
Nice thanks for sharing ..keepem coming
.

Another one saved and a job well done by yourself as usual 👏
Great show keep up the amazing work be safe my friends God bless all
Awesome!
Thank you for showing!! and save the Beauty
Superb as always. Keep up the good job!
What a moron, too lazy to even take off the tires and free the brake drums.
Any engine will run as long as it wasn't blown up before it was parked.
The straight 6 engine was used in demo derby cars because it would run even with no water in it.
Damn dude,, you say hasn't ran in 30 years ? First thing you do when it starts is to rev it up for all its got !!! Damn wonder the crankshaft didn't come in the front seat with you
It's fun watching amatures resurecting cars.
Love it. I have one. It’s a 150 sedan. Great find 👍🏻✌🏻thx for saving it. And for sharing this with us all
Super nice car! Great work señor! 👏
Great color
Love the ‘57 150 two door sedan. Good video. I did have to laugh at the traction bars coupled with that 235 Blue Flame 6 cylinder engine! Good luck! She’s a beaut!
Wow! A clean start!
OMG I'm loving it !! Great job and awesome video !!
I wouldn't waist my money on electric auto
Cool channel, keep em coming!👍👍🔥
Great work!!
Except for missing grill the old girl is in remarkable shape.
Great job so far, I will finish your video later
Another excellent video
What gem i always loved these cars and the 55
Good find mate 🤙🤙🤙
It's not a 210 ! It's a 150 2 door sedan. Got one just like it. Ha ha.
two tone it
Me too lol. Black V8 one piece frame rails. 👍🏻
I was just gonna chime in and say that no aluminum trim on the fins
Yes that was a low budget vehicle.
i love the look of 57 chev's i like the original colour in the boot what a cool car 😎.
My younger brother Bobby had a 57 chevy two door in Bel Air trim. We had a lot if fun in that car. Great memories I miss him.
Sounded like there was a dead cylinder. Not surprising after 30 years of sitting. Good looking car despite the rusty floors. And the rubber nose belair front bumper over riders look interesting against the lack of trim on the 150's.
This was a great video! I love that car!!!!
Pretty straight '57 150 into which someone has transplanted a BelAir interior. Adding BelAir trim to cheaper models was pretty normal "back in the day". My first car - around 1967 was a 210 4 door sedan, 235 cu in 6-banger, 3-on-the-tree. I added some BelAir trim to mine too. That was in the mountains of SW PA where lots of salt was used on the roads in the winter. I spent months combing junk yards for parts that weren't rusted out. No reproduction parts back then.
Couldn't kill that old motor.. Sold the car when I got orders (Navy) to CA. Later, bought 3 BelAirs over the years. Sold the last one about 5 years ago. I miss it. BelAir 2 dr HT, 283 bored .060. Saginaw 4 spd. Colonial Cream with a white roof.
awesome car
Heck yeah… floor boards aside… looks to be a great find👍🏼
I wish to see this Beauty Run&Drive after Properly(!) repair&Restore , Upgrade! Sorry Guys, please stop it to show this Skill to bring old Motor to Run. best Wishes&Greetings from Germany!
great job on a great car
Glad to see you working on that old car and getting it back running. Get you some new plugs points condenser wire distributor cap rebuild that carburetor at car run pretty good probably change that oil really good. I believe I would leave the paint like it is and put the original white wall tires back on it with the original hubcaps and ride it around. If you do any more videos on that car post on I'd like to see them. Great job brother.
Estupendo coche, buen trabajo.🖐️💪🇪🇦👍
Should cut out entire floor and put a one piece pan in it. Probably couldn't get enough roofing tar off the floors to weld partial pans in. If that stuff caught on fire from grinding or welding it'd be too toxic to breathe. Other wise good. But, I wouldn't recommend revving a newly started engine like that. Give it enough rpm's to stay running & let the block warm up for a bit first.
Very good video 👏
Jeez man, easy on the rpm's on initial start up, holy moly you're lucky it didn't pitch a rod, wow !
Found your channel today and subscribed to it today 👍
Love your 1957 Chevrolet 150 I have the same one in Larkspur blue nothing like those three on the tree transmissions. I haven't started mine up in over 30yrs either. Thanks for sharing your experience. Hopefully you will keep it stock. I was going to modify mine but have decided to bring her back to her natural beauty.
Beautiful lady with a great deal of possibilities.
Bellissimo esemplare. Complimenti 😊
The headliner and seating upholstery looks fabulous!! Say what color did that end up being? Looked like a dark gray or silver
The optimism of whoever installed traction bars on a stock 6 cylinder is impressive.
Yeah I laughed at that too
Has a tach too. lol. Maybe they had high hopes ❤️
Somewhere back in the dark ages I was a teenager too
I'm glad to see a nearly perfect 1957 Chevy put back on the road that is my favorite car of the 50s
Beautiful car mr congratulations thanks for this video and for bringing this beaty back to the road.
Hermoso auto Está Arrancando en 5 cilindros Saludos desde Argentina
Gue bueno esta eso me gusta mucho tus videos desde cuba te seguimos ❤❤
A 57 Chevy 2 door sweeeet! You don't need a V8 to be an icon just that style,
A SILENT VIDEO I HAVE NEVER SEEN ??? I AM SORRY IF YOUR IN ANOTHER COUNTRY OR DEAF .. BUT I WATCHED TO SEE IF IT WOULD START GREAT ,, THATS ALL I COULD TAKE .. NICE CAR ,,ENJOY!!
Looks like it's basically in pretty good shape.
Those red motors are bulletproof, we can still get tune up mods here in Australia, enough to give the V8 crowd the blues lol
It's not a holden red motor (173,186 etc ) but a Chev 235 which is physically bigger and better.
The Common 235 inline 6 cylinder engine--other option was the 265 cu.--same as newer 283 but newer engine was Bored Out more. I had this same 235 in my 54 Chevy Bel-Aire Sport Coupe...
If you wanted to stick with an inline six, you could swap in the 261 truck version.
You have found a treasure.
Blower up Son . 30 yr set. I would have made it ideal for an hr before I confirm it needed a new carb . Or a 350SBC lol
Woww 6 cylinders ...same powerfull like MUSTANG ... FIX single turbo ...there you go ...! Smoking Chevy.
I love the old Chevrolet
Bonjour bravo pour votre passion de belle américaine, une merveille cette voiture, chez nous en France est très rare de dénicher de belles trouvailles sauf nos voitures populaires merci 👍
Sweet car
Some commentary would be nice. But overall beautiful car and great editing.
I really enjoy your content and production style. No dialogue. Many CZcamsrs could learn from that. Keep up the good work.
Belair seat covers. In a 150 2-door Sedan. First red 6 cylinder I’ve ever seen.
I had one just like that many years ago... Those 6 cylinders weren't very good. The 250 6 cylinder was a lot better that came out years later. I have had over 12 57's over the years and all makes of them... I always like 57's. The most a paid for one was $275. That was back in the 60's...
Oh shit! That floor is a condemned building
Your mechanical expertise never fails to amaze me! Another fine job. You should have many more suscribers!
He probably would have more subscribers if he would actually talk. I for one am not going to subscribe and won't be back to see any of his other videos for that very reason

And a nice power wash for a finale!
Beautiful car; love the Spartan appearance of the 150's. Appears someone in the past exchanged the steering wheel for a 210 wheel. If I remember correctly, the 150 only had a horn button in the middle of the wheel???
What it how much
Nice job. You don't see a lot of 210 2dr sedans anymore.
It’s a 150-
@@torekristoffersen176 sure is, isn't it. Someone swapped the steering wheel.
Absolutely beautiful car.
It would look better in my driveway here in Down under Australia ❤
Just saying....
About that process, unsticking the brakes..any hints of the solving that problem..????
Please never paint it!!! Floor mats, tires ,ready to roll!!! 🤘😎🤘
Nice unit, but what’s up with the slapper bars with the six banger?that would have a hard time breaking the tire loose probably an old hotrod put back to stock or someone wanted it to look like a drag car,who knows.nice car though.
They must have made millions of these 57s you see them every where we had a 57 station wagon when I was a kid it had a 283 in it it was a rust bucket only 10 years old holes in the floor exhaust came up though the floor made us all sick it was junk I thought but I was a kid I didn't know a whole lot my grandpa had a gas station and it seemed they were always working on it bad cylinder keep missing my grandpa said it had collapsed lifters he took the heads off and rebuilt them I guess it was ok after that but I didn't see what the big attraction was
It seems like it came out reluctantly.
me encanta ese modelo y año porque es el año el que naci nov.
lindo auto .
me gustaria obtener uno asi❤😂😅
What is that component with the giant rot hole in it?
The sound from the incident is the heating fan squeeking
Did this vehicle come equipped with power steering and or power brakes?
Those tires and wheels need to be archived and suitable replacements installed
He cranked on the starter until it made me cringe!😮 and yell give it a break! 😂lol
Holy dog shit that muffler looks like it was hit with buckshot!
this song reminds me of a grocery store lobster
Set the timing to avoid the cranking issue.
Whatbisvtraction bars doing on a 6 cylinder?
I assume that some lead additive was introduced in the fuel source?
