RBI has been raising interest rates to control inflation. Growth is slow but inflation is under control which is good for the economy in the long term. Stock markets have been flat but investors are continuing their SIPs in equity funds because they have a positive view over the long term. You must be patient with Contra Funds and maintain a long time horizon with them. These are high risk high reward funds which can be a part of your satellite portfolio. Children’s Mutual Funds invest in both equity and debt instruments and have a 5 year lock-in period. However, the perception of children’s career and marriage creates a positive mindset and parents tend to hold the investment for the long term. Both Mutual Funds and NPS play a role in your portfolio and you must fix the required allocations. However, you can have a higher allocation towards Mutual Funds than NPS.
