    Actually, with Steam's integrated Dualshock 4 controller configuration support, you can make a config with it in any game, same with the Xbox One Controller, so it's technically not 3rd party software (and it does work very well)

    Um, I've been using an Xbox One S controller (the one you featured in this video) since it's release with Bluetooth on my Windows 10 PC. You don't need a dongle.
    The PS4 controller also works without any external software. Has for months.
    Please research thoroughly before making a video. This is my first time watching you. I hope this isn't an indication of how you normally research for videos. If so, I'm amazed you have this many subs. Best of luck.

      You are wrong, look at the plastic around the Xbox logo. Is it part of the face of the controller? If so, it has Bluetooth. But if the plastic surrounding the logo matches and leads into the triggers/bumpers, it doesn’t support Bluetooth. The one in this video HAS Bluetooth.

      ps4 controller works natively only on games that support ds4, and there are very few titles that does so. in order to make it more compatible like to work in all xinput-supported or xinput-only games, you'll need workaround softwares or own a cronusmax adapter, which is more expensive than the controller itself.

  • @salty789
    @salty789 Před 7 lety +21

    hey man, not a huge point but you did forget that some steam games support the PS4 controller without any software. one example being rocket league

    • @liamness
      @liamness Před 7 lety +4

      Is probably a huge point. The Steam Overlay itself has native support for both the PS4 and Xbox One controllers. Meaning you get all that nice remapping functionality that used to be the sole preserve of the Steam Controller, and they'll work with any games that support the overlay, even ones that only support m/kb controls. So unless you particularly like the touchpads and wacky button layout (I am quite partial to it) people should just go for whichever controller they're most familiar with.

  • @GothicDragonX

    The steam controller takes a while to game to get used to and you can literally program every single button to 1 or multiple functions. I do rate it at #1 because of all its flexibility. Firstly you need to know how it functions, how the software can be bend to your will. You can set the sensitivity of your mouse or aiming pad or use the gyro to control where you are looking at even add a higher or lower sensitivity.
    I admit it looks and feels cheap but it is really ergonomic and really hard to get used to it at first, but once you have full dominance of the software, it is the best controller on the market. (Steam Software is awesome AF)

    Xbox one controller can connect via bluetooth depending on the model. The white on you have, can do that. Older black ones can not, a little confusing but they added the feature in around the time gears of war 4 came out.

  • @Belfoxy
    @Belfoxy Před 7 lety +5

    It seems like you missed a few things on the steam controller. You made it seem like the dongle is sold separately only, although one is included in the controller box (although it is a bit hidden in the bottom). Also, it seems a bit odd that you put the Xbox controller for Dishonored, a shooter. Did you use the gyro to enhance your aiming precision? It makes a world of difference instead of just using the trackpad. Also, the Steam controller was lacking buttons for you? You can use touch menus through Steam to add lots of virtual buttons. I tend to put them on right pad click (or sometimes while holding a different button), so I can have 9 buttons there, but also have it act as a mouse when not clicking.
    Also, the PS4 controller doesn't really need DS4WIndows; it has support through Steam now and can be configured however you'd like, with different setups for every game, and with more options than DS4WIndows probably has. The gyro and touch pad make the DS4 more flexible than any Xbox controller when playing PC games, but it still works well for controller games as well.

    I am addressing some issues here:
    1-The white XBONE controller is the S version with Bluetooth built in so you're not forced to buy the expensive official Microsoft dongle, any Bluetooth USB adapter is fine.
    2-The build quality of the XBOX ONE S controller over the original XBOX 360 controller is actually worse, the fact is that you had the clone on hand misled your judgement (BTW I have the three controllers/XBONE S/PS4 Slim/XBOX 360) so I know what am talking about.
    Hope that this will be helpful for viewers and for you.

    PS4 pads can be connected with an official dongle, www.playstation.com/en-gb/explore/accessories/dualshock-4-usb-wireless-adaptor/ . All new XB1 pads have Bluetooth so can connect via that if you have it at no additional cost, but if you want more than 1, you need the dongle or to have it wired. The Steam controller also comes with a receiver as well now.

  • @pumfeethermodynamics3286

    You can literally make it work for any game even if that game does not consider controller support at all.

    Right now, the PS4 controller natively works with PC :)
    Plus, you can just hold down the PS button and the share button at the same time, and it becomes discoverable by any device which supports Bluetooth

    That's an Xbox One S controller, not a regular Xbox One controller. It has bluetooth built in, and if your motherboard has integrated bluetooth you can connect it without a dongle.

    Steam controller comes with the adapter, there's no reason to buy one separately unless you lose or break it.

    I dunno if the info is outdated or perhaps Windows released an Update?
    But I can confirm you dont Need the Microsoft Official bluetooth adapter if you use the Xbox One S controller..
    In my case it was a simple as to pair the controller to my laptop via bluetooth config and start playing, No special bluetooth adapter needed just the internal bluetooth in my laptop.

    There's no, "J" in Genre. It's kind of like when you say, "Baryshnikov". Basically replacing a, "Z" for the, "S" in the sound people use to tell someone to be quiet, "Shhh". JS. If it helps then it helps. I don't know why people are suddenly hating on speaking abilities but not on their peers that sit around hanging on the internet correcting people's pronunciations all day.
