- The Xbox One Elite controller has been labeled by many as a cool, yet grossly overpriced peripheral. But does Luke think that its awesome features justify the high price?

Wait, it doesn't have interchangeable triggers?
TRIGGERED
What the hell
Lol
Technically, it does have "interchangeable" triggers, trigger pull distance, are you "TRIGGERED" now?
Was that a pun
Mr fries face hmmm I wonder
Amazing that you can talk so much about the price AND NEVER MENTION THE ACTUAL DAMN PRICE!
google
Dustin Rodriguez 150$ in retail.
prices change
That's because they don't want their videos to become outdated because prices change over the years..
$190
I like that in less than five seconds it goes from talking about an Xbox controller to shaving equipment
*SpOnSeReD FoR MoNeY*
Instantly stopped watching at that point. I have adblocker for a reason.
Two ads in a 7.5 minute video does seem a bit excessive.
Terrible segway
IKR
even the controller had a 3.5mil jack and the new Iphone does not????
ShadowStryker 112 lmao
A state of the art device having a 40 year old input.... yeah
''state of the art'' XD Apple: yesterday's tech for tomorrow's prices.
Drew Davies
OLD DOES NOT MEAN OUTDATED.
To hear sound we need analog waves, any other methods of sound ouput still requires a digital to analog converter.
Just because the port is old doesn't mean it's outdated, perhaps you should have done research beyond Apple's shitty PR department.
Miller no because Design seeks to simplify , its a matter of time before it’s removed or consolidated or replaced.
would be nice if the price was included in the review. quite a major point of reviewing a product imo.
arround $150
not around it is 150
Its 150 everywhere in us unless you go to a weird third party website its a official Microsoft products they can't charge more or less than the listed price if they are a offical retailer (best buy, gamestop, amazon) are some examples
+marcarsenal1 Ye $150. or $200 in Australia cos we are luck like that haha
+marcarsenal1 Most tech reviewers have chosen (supposedly at Google's/CZcams's suggestion) to only include prices when it is very newsworthy/noteworthy at the time. It has been also suggested that some companies that lend out review items ask prices not be discussed to keep the story vendor neutral as to what individual vendors charge.
The upside is the video doesn't get dated as fast and when it does get dated it is harder to tell.
Also LTT does a pricing discussion on their forums that is a common driver to them to help build the forum community and keep it out of the YT comments.
Halo 5 on PC?
Microsoft, please.
+ComicPunch IMO we should get ports of all the Halo games, and then put on steam.
that would be the perfect scenario
Huh you're here.
+The Scrawl Gaming No, How about another client like steam or origin or uplay or GOG galaxy? Just call it Xbox Play!!!!!!! Kappa.
+Fritz Le that was called games for windows live, and it failed horribly...
Filipp Roos oh, I remember. It was awful.
my pot dealer has this controller, asked him how he justified spending 150 on it his answer suprised me. "I bought it BECAUSE it was so much money, if it was a good deal everyone would have one and the advantage wouldn't be as noticeable." very concise for someone who spent 25 minutes looking for their keys the same day
ronjonsurf39 lol
"Advantage".
Concise?
Pot dealer logic you have issues isnt mate
r/thathappened
I'd definitely love to give this a go on my X1, but not going to pay $150 for a controller anytime soon. (And thus why I never got a Scuf Q_Q )
Bro casually became famous after writing this comment
You fucking joking. this still requires AN batteries? you can just make a rechargeable controller? sort has been doing this since last gen.
+ItsDrafty
Building in rechargeable would be bad feature because standard lithium batteries are only good for about 2 1/2 years before going out. You do know you can still get a rechargeable pack anyways right? Plus with them removable if the battery dies you aren't suck tethered to a USB port. You can just swap out the battery back and your back playing again.
+ItsDrafty I'd rather just pop in a couple new batteries then wait 4 hours.
+ItsDrafty It's a tradeoff. Some people want battery slots so they can just pop in new batteries instead of plugging in when it dies. They can use rechargeables if they want. Including both would increase the cost and engineering complexity, and only including a rechargeable would mean that when that battery dies, you have to send it back to get it replaced, rather than just popping in new.
+ItsDrafty rechargeable batteries..? fucking pleb..
+shadowtsunami mine is 8 years and works fine lol

+capeman245 you came to the wrong neighborhood
+capeman245 Console < PC
+R4GEcraft he's pointing out luke's flip flops in the top left corner of that frame. it's out of focus but yeah.
+capeman245 His question has nothing to do with the controller. It's a Vine thing to say, "What are those!?" when looking at peoples' footwear.

Does this controller have a button that summons multiple strippers to my door step to cater to my needs?
Yes, but it's a DLC
No it's on PC.
Bob sagget I'm sad to say but no
JakePaul nope
Yes, how could you not know
The games are developed on PCs, then shown off on PCs and then ported to console, am I the only one who sees how VERY easy it would be to make a PC port?
I just thought about this yesterday. Like they even show off the games on pc durring E3 and stuff like that, just give it to us PC gamers aswell
+Penta YOOO Console exclusives are the only reason to buy a console in the first place, so it makes sense to have them as a separate market. I would love to see all games developed on PC to be on PC for consumers but it just won't happen when the console market still exists
It's all about making money :c
+Jayden Holzhauser If it is developed for and runs on PC, is it even a port?
Isn't the Xbox One running Windows now?
Is the Xbox One not a PC then?
Could the Xbox One run Steam just as easily as a Windows PC could play Xbox One Exclusives?
Why would Microsoft purposely make the console weaker than it has the potential to be?
+Jayden Holzhauser +Winter "Rob" Burns
It's not about whether or not it's a PC, it's about the hardware inside that PC.
Every XBONE has the same hardware therefore making game development easier.
"porting to PC" actually means making it work on many different PC builds across hardware generations.
0:42 what are those?
+Debeans Csgo What are what?
+Debeans Csgo
I think he explains that around 0:43 or so -_-

Why is he getting up voted? I'm very confused.
+Debeans Csgo WHAT ARE THOOOOOOOOSSE
+OptionalLemon he's on about the flip flops he's wearing...
I’ve had this controller for probably 6+ months now and I can honestly say that I really like it and have virtually no complaints about it. The rubberized grip across the controller feels very nice and premium (although your hands may get hotter than usual), the swappable thumb sticks was a HUGE plus when switching between different games and same goes for the paddles and trigger stops.
Excellent video - answered all of my questions! Thank you!
I wonder how the platform on Vessel looks. Does it look cooler than CZcams? I would hope so since you are paying for it lol.
+TechSource shots fired?
+TechSource pretty sure most people got a year free due to the promotion
+Pyroblock (SPG) Yep, only reason I use vessel is the free year. While vessel is alright, doubt I'd be using it after that year just to watch a couple of things that I like, predominantly being LTT.
We got a badass over here (It's not even on Vessel)
+TechSource my internet blocks vessel since exede has to share internet with everyone via a satellite
so im stuck watching youtube in 144P-1080P depending on the speeds i get
forza on pc?
damn that would be the day.
come on MS
please
+Andrew Timothy I have a friend who would shit themselves if I was able to get it on PC, same with Halo 5.
i spent almost my saving jsut to buy a somewhat gaming PC can't really afford to buy an XONE.
The day forza comes to PC will be perfect, finally give me a reason to swap the xbox for a pc since its all i play
Have you tried Assetto Corsa?
+MeatyPotato Cactus yeah ps4 have driveclub and that insane weather effect. xbox have forza horizon 2(The best forza so far IMO).
while pc racing games are not really that great.. they're good but not great.
unless need for speed can bring us salvation
but since it's EA, its gonna be fucked i guess
I love this channel. watched legit every video. thanks linus for make this channel and your staff. you also helped me understand and build my own pc. so thank you and your video's are great. :)
Good review. I can agree with his remarks on the accidental inputs through using the paddles. I removed mine. Remapping was all I wanted this for anyway. Something that will come to regular controllers eventually.
My favorite feature of the controller, which I'm surprised that Luke didn't mention. The shafts of the thumbsticks are chrome steel, and there is a metal ring around the edges of the thumbsticks area, so they don't get that plastic on plastic friction that you get with the standard controller. They slide along the outside very smoothly.
I got one recently, really enjoy it playing Forza 6. Shifting with the metal padels just feels more emersive to me than hitting a button. Triggger stop on the break is nice but shit on the gas. Playing Battlefront it is nice just remaping your buttons to the triggers so you never have to lift off the thumb sticks. Love the controller, worth the price for me.
Definitely getting this for Christmas
So I am now on my third Xbox elite 2 controller. I’ve had to return and swap for a new one twice within a 30 day time period. The first remote had an issue of slight right thumb stick drag and the Y button was not very responsive. Had to forcefully press it twice a lot. The second remote again had even more right thumbsitck drag and, the A, X, B, and Y button would sometimes not register, and the D pad had some issue with it not fitting quite right so it would get locked a bit if you moved in two opposite directions which was really annoying. Just picked up and this time purchased a two year warranty for my now third remote within 30 days. This one seems to be promising.
"PC Gaming is expensive"
*lol*
ahahahahahahah yeah lol
+some rat An optional controller.
PC gaming is cheaper in the long-term, but the start-up capital involved is similar if not a little more than console gaming.
some rat Yes... But that's not that controller, is it? Those are two different things.
My point is, the controller is an option. Saying that console gaming is overly expensive because of an optional component is just as stupid as saying PC gaming is expensive because $1000 graphics cards exist, and $200 mech. keyboards exist. They're optional.
+eni you sir won that battle, that's why he didn't reply.
+eni PC gaming is not cheaper in the long run anymore. You can buy used games for as much as you would pay on a Steam Sale. Right now I can get Assassin's Creed Black Flag and Unity for $10 each for PS4 used on eBay. New PC games cost $60 just like console games. A good keyboard and mouse combo will cost you upwards of $100. Sure you can use a shitty keyboard and mouse for maybe $20 altogether but let's face it, most PC gamers want that mechanical keyboard and nice mouse. The controller is not overpriced for what you're getting. If you want that customizability then you pay for it. You guys are sounding like PC elitists right now just bashing anything you can bash. Buying a console costs you $350 right now. Unless you bought all the console games new at $60 each and you bought all your PC games on a big steam sale, you'll never reach the cost of PC gaming with console gaming. That's a misconception that nobody even thinks about anymore but they parrot. PC gaming is more expensive than console gaming as a whole.
Dollar shave club is such a weird sponsor. First it's only going to apply to men, which I assume are like 85% of your audience. Then the majority of people younger than 16 aren't going to be applicable, probably taking you down to 60%. Then a lot of people only use electric shavers, so down a lot more to surely ~35%. And finally it's only avaialble in the US and Canada, so only about 20% of the people watching your videos are going to be applicable to even consider buying from them.
+Rambi “Rambi9000” Ninethousand They deliver to OZ and NZ too. I think the UK is coming as well. Also lol everyone shaves. Even women. Plenty of women will just use "mens" razors because razors "for women" are mainly just results of skeevy marketing
+Nick D The only thing I use a razor for is my balls.
+Rambi “Rambi9000” Ninethousand They still get money tho
+Rambi “Rambi9000” Ninethousand These ads have been running for months. Dollar Shave would have moved on by now If they weren't getting a decent ROI from the promotion. Unless they're incompetent or enjoy wasting money, It's reasonable to assume Dollar Shave is happy with the campaign.
you're saying girls dont shave?
Great review guys! I just bought one, and I was excited for the laddles, but they are too large and I find myself accidentally hitting them all the time. they should have just made them a built in button versus a paddle, but it's a sweet controller.
you know you've got a good editor when he can make me laugh just with the image of a car :)
5:05 An expensive controller that comes with batteries that have expired, 09/2015.
Well I guess??? I've never had that problem myself as I just pop open the controller & replace it with a new one but I do see your point still that's no excuse for out of date batteries.
I'm not sure which is the better scenario?
DS3 or DS4 battery dying forcing you to buy new controller or X1 elite controller batteries leaking & destroying the controller if left for a while?
+Bimmy Lee Or just have removable, rechargeable batteries that you can replace, just like any Laptop.
It's not like they are going to completely revamp the design of the controller so they could just sell replacement batteries if they eventually die.
I also hate the batteries but I see the value of them. whether you have rechargeable batteries or not being able to instantly swap out for a full charge is a super handy feature. At least they got rid of the giant hump that was on the X360 controller.
I totally agree, being able to swap out the batteries is a way better option than having to plug it in. It's a shame they didn't throw in a rechargable plug & play kit with these elite controllers as they should have all the extras.
1:46 He is pressing the d pad with his right thumb😂, he is definitely a kbm player that finds controller alien to use.
Everybody does unless u play claw lol
@@hassanoneup8627 literally everyone presses the dpad with their left thumb and not the right thumb lol
Great vid as usual guys! I did a review of this on my channel and wanted to see how the pros did it... I learned some things about how to make my next review better, so thanks for that!
How has the long term durability been for you guys? I have read a lot of reviews that state that these things break pretty easily. I know to take those reviews with a grain of salt because you never really know what that person is "doing" to the controller.
I have dropped and thrown mine on hard floors a few times and all I've managed to do is ding the metal triggers.
Patrick Andersen Thrown? What a baby.
Mine has survived some rage. To be honest with you, It's all how you take care of it. If its getting shuffled around your house, tossed, dropped, used with greasy fingers, obviously the longevity of this controller is going to be abruptly ended. But if you keep it in the case, take care of it, and be cautious with it, she will last for the years to come.
Addendum: I have now broken the cables for two Elites. The Micro-USB connector is very easy to damage, the slightest stress on the connection will render it entirely non-functional. The controller itself has taken no additional damage and continues to work flawlessly with a new, more durable cable.
Just short of 3 months use and still no issues after I purchased mine. I have dropped it by accident twice but no issues to speak of. I cannot attest to the comment above me as I have never used the cables yet.
Every time I hear about this shit I just picture this, against a $10 mouse.
And I pick the mouse every single time.
So racing games ain't your thing then I assume.
+TheMegjake For the price of this controller I could get a used Logitech DFGT.
+Drew Peterson DAE PC MASTER RACE? DAE INSECURE ABOUT HOW PEOPLE SPEND THEIR MONEY?
+TheMegjake Wheels, bro. PC + mouse/keyboard + Wheel.
+Drew Peterson Being a PC Elitist and using a $10 mouse is just embarassing
I'm using 1 down button sometimes especialy on for honor to parry easier
Nice. I was looking into a new controller and thought I'd go for a (hopefully) higher quality one. The big thing was the dpad, I'm glad it looks so easy to swap
I really wanna try that circle D pad for a fighting game. Is it really as good as the reviewer says, or is it too immaculate to replace the basic d pad?
Just saying the controller had a matte feel thats awesome and a weight about 2 times more. If u use it a lot then switch to normal cont its lightand veals cheaply made plastic
ive had mine for 6 months
easy to get use too? or it complicated from start of using it? thinking about using it.
Michael Roche U I dapted to mine fairly quickly and after experiencing the freedom the paddles allowed and playing so much more competitively in Halo 5, I could never go back to a normal controller. This is partly why I switched to PC gaming after my Elite controller's right stick stopped working properly. It should last more than 8 months for $150. That is something you should be aware of though. It feels like very high build quality (and was AWESOME whe it worked) but it will NOT last a year of significant use in all likelihood.
That rant on the games is so fucking necessary.
After having my elite controller for a while before seeing this, I gotta say, most of the things Luke complained about (paddles and tall thumbsticks) actually are really nice, you just have to adjust to them. When I first got mine I felt the same way (accidentally pressing paddles, and the tall thumbsticks felt weird) but now I use all the paddles like it's second nature and the tall thumbsticks are sooooo good for accuracy and don't bother me at all. You just gotta stick with a config for a bit to adjust.
Seriously, this was my first video. I'm hooked I will definitely be looking to Linus for future reviews before my purchase, oh and my elite controller is now on its way!
How about the Steam Controller?
Ummmmm can you give us the scrap yard wars video? ;)
+ChocChipLetsPlay Not until Saturday night/Sunday Night.
oh
+RisseK1 please don't do this. Support the creators!
+thelol1759 I don't think the support is that much needed here. Even if you pay for Vessel or do other things to help Linus Media Group get more income, they still show the same amount of annoying ads in their videos on CZcams. They're being greedy.
Can you reply if you know if the new jack on the bottom of the new xbox one controllers works with chat and game volume. So I don't have to buy the xbox one headset adapter for my headset. (There the HyperX Cloud 2)
I've never heard someone so mad and so calm at the same time
Ugh, I don't want to spend $150 on a controller, but you're just selling me more and more. I really want one now.
+NerdBubblegum What's the price for a comparable scuff? (If you know)
+NerdBubblegum I dont know they seem overpriced AF at this point
+Game Hound
A comparable scuff will cost at least $75 more and won't have the re-mappable buttons.
The elite also has significantly better build quality and feels better in hand.
microsf121 Ok, ye, from what I have seen, a lot of scuff owners seem to be saying this- that this is a much better option. Thanks for the reply :-)
this controller isn't for everyone. it mostly caters to the fps crowd (like many custom controllers do) but I imagine the customizable inputs will find use in many other genres. but that is up to the consumer to do so.
The guy who makes these videos isn't actually Linus, for those who don't know, but I don't know who he actually is, and I would like to find out because I really like him. So if someone could, please let me know..
This video, as well as most other non-Linus videos on the LinusTechTips channel, was made by Luke.
So..... can the 4 new paddle buttons underneath be mapped to keyboard keys open a pc? or is it just that you don't actually get "more buttons" you just get a new place to have the original buttons?
The original xbox had a controller with buttons on the inside of the grips that was mappable right on the controller. I had 2 of them, may still have one somewhere. They were great for Halo 1. It was bigger than this thing is though and felt amazing in your hands.
Lol I’m here when the new version has been released in 2019
This is a 150$ Controller that does not include a chargeable battery or a PC receiver. Why on earth would you get this when there are better controllers at the same price.
+BlueFoxTV And what controllers are those? You can't get much better than this at this price point.
+Dan Cook You can, but for the fact that this is coming straight from Microsoft themselves is reason enough to get this controller, Over priced? Yes, but.....I aint even mad tho
You make a good point, but this adds features that I've never seen, Magnetic peripherals...... and ummmm thats it
Creative Chris Not necessarily overpriced. The exact same config for Scuf is at least $10 more. Now, I don't know if you get standard swappable sticks and dpads with Scuf, but with four paddles, 2 dpads, 6 sticks, and the controller remapping software, it's easily worth the price.
It comes with a receiver... A receiving end on the USB cable. Lol
How are the dead zones on the joy sticks? I notice on DCS:world tweaker the xbox one controller has some. I was hoping to know if this had less dead zones.
Okay super big question....
The Analog(ue) triggers... Are the axis separate or are they combined in which ruins game play in racing games....?
This is a nice review. I might buy one of these today. I like to hold a controller in my left hand and my mouse in my right hand... which leaves me with a lack of buttons sometimes. This would give me an extra two buttons or even more when you consider that you can remap everything.
haha if only nintendo had made a usb version of their nunchuck attachment to the wiimote. that would sound ideal for the mouse/thumbstick arrangement you're rocking. I'd like that for borderlands too personally.
The playstation navigation controller is really good for this configuration. The only thing it lacks that you might want is rumble and start/select buttons. But it works well with Borderlands. I just played through the pre-sequel like that.
thats a weird way to play.
I agree but I stand by it. Mouse clearly gives you the best aiming and an analog stick gives you the most smooth & precise movement. So why not have both?
deathday You're weird.
Hey Linus can you checks the durability of the controller. I go through default xbox1 controllers around every 5-8 month and their 63$-67$ with tax included.
For an elite controller to be worth 150$ without tax almost 3X the amount I want to make sure the controller last a longer time than it previous competitor than just cosmetic.
+VOL XIN (VOLXIN) Correct me if I'm wrong but I though xbox controllers are pretty reliable.
How do you manage to break the controller every half year?
smashing down on the sticks repetitively for stupid characters to sprint like destiny/waframe. double tapping buttons for a faster rapid reload time, or double jumps, glides, melee. typical first person shooters triggers to aim and shoot GUNS that are single shots, games that have snipers with 3X ZOOM with the right stick and when you get hit it cancels you out of the zoom in animation. YOU KNOW TYPICAL SHIT ANY GAMER EXPERIENCES.
especially competitive pro gamers who buy new controllers every 2 month. anything else?????
Delta-xFish they are reliable but why would you waste 3X the amount of money on a controller that last just as long. thats the message I am trying to get through people. its not like there`s a 3-5 year warranty to replace it is there! I think not
+U dirty Camel have you ever played an online multiplayer competitive game. ever get teabag by squeekers. join a random lobby with people with no microphone making you pull the whole team?????
played a game where they put you up against someone with crappy internet and somehow they are able to teleport around the whole map. even though you shot them in the head 10X the asshole is still alive lagging all over the map only for the game to register him killing you 5-7 seconds later. getting a message after the game from him saying Umadbro, your skills suck, to git good. RAGE QUIT! urging you to throw controller across the room. I can go all day.
I loved the video. The "Got rekt" part made me laugh, it was pretty funny (as well as the intros changing the text. I love reading those).
The review is super complete and fairly even between good and bad things. I'm supposing the "pc software" thing is to... sell more consoles? Or make it seem the console gets better support? I don't know, since Xbox is MSFT and thus they're both console and actually even more PC.
Just ordered mine today can't wait!
I will not pay $150 plus $25 for the receiver.
for $150 it should include everything you would need
Guitarded_ 5150 you don’t need the receiver
@@mxduza9872 That wasn't really the point. First off, they overcharge for the controller. So the receiver at least, should come with it. Not only does the receiver not come with it, but the receiver is overpriced too.
madcapper6 it’s not over priced when you compare it to there competitor SCUF
That feel when Microsoft actually did finally start giving us the games on PC 😁
i lost my shit at the honda hatch back roast in the beginning lmao that made my day and was so perfectly done.
I know this is an old video, but how do most games react to the extra triggers? Are they fully customizable or just like second versions of A, B, X, Y ? Like for example L4D2 can you use them for Medkits, crouching, etc. or nah?

Vercz Gaming Rainbow six siege MCVS and more! 3/4*
But, is the micro UBS port for making the controller wired any good? Is it still shitty, an PC flimsy, like a standard controller, or is it secure and tight like a Rockcandy wired port, with the walls to keep it from shaking out? That's my main concern.
This was easily the best review I’ve seen of this thing👌
I own the Elite. I want to add more to this snub to the PC users.
I have the wireless adapter with this controller, and that adapter only works in windows 10.
1. "Xbox Accessories" app will crash when you are using wireless connection to pair.
2. Remapping feature is limited only to existing buttons that you'd find on a 360/Xbone controller.
3. You cannot bind keystrokes, bind macros, and you cannot use the paddles as standalone buttons for PC gaming.
4. Xpadder and other remapping software will only recognize the controller as a run of the mill 360 controller.
Xbox console players may have to live with the even ground limitations, but that's not the case with PC. I own the Steam Controller, which is far inferior in construction quality, but the remapping options through Steam Big Picture mode blows the Xbox Elite controller out of the water.
+MeatyPotato Cactus
I am using Windows 10, but don't ignore the legitimate gripes about privacy concerns when using that OS. Windows 7 is end of life, but that's not the case with Windows 8.1 yet. I must add that the wireless adapter doesn't work on Linux or Steam Link at that.
+MeatyPotato Cactus Why else did I purposely cite out Linux? I have no bone with you about making it clear that you are only as safe as you choose, but to merely state that this is a non-issue is laughable. Moreover, please kindly remember that Microsoft had touted very publicly that Windows 10 and Xbox One are to be integrated rather seamlessly at that.
If this were Sony's Dualshock 4, then there's no need to be this critical. Microsoft has made a damn good controller, but to have the galls to be this half-hearted on Windows 10 PC support when that comes at a premium is intolerable.
+MeatyPotato Cactus It's the same as the 360 controller in this regard, and that's great. The only bonus that exists with this controller functionality wise is the ability to map paddles to other buttons such as ABXY under Windows 10.
Problem is, you must remap using that app and must use the cord is not so excusable to me since Steam Controller has no such qualm.
+MeatyPotato Cactus You can't. Steam controller is not even a 360 Controller if you shut Steam down. All functionalities are only enabled if Steam is on, which is a huge disadvantage. This means that CronusMAX won't make it work on XBone. Steam Controller does work on Windows desktop, but only if Steam is on.
wait wait wait wait... you have to buy the wireless receptor separately? what?
why dont they just make us buy the buttons of the controller as well for fucks sake it's something so minor the technology behind it is simple yet they want to charge 29,99? what?
Just use the USB cable
150 dollars well spent!
Mike Nie That is one way to look at it but also keep in mind that most people buying this controller are using it for the XBox One, not the PC. Why drive the cost up for them by including an accessory that they will never use?
because Micro$oft
Yea :/. The earlier Xbox controllers didn’t support Bluetooth. Nor does the elite despite a controller coming out like 3 months later that does. Now Bluetooth is standard in them. Makes me, an elite controller user, a bit disgruntled about how my $150 controller has to be connected by cable to use on my pc. Or pay 30 for the adapter -_-
U can connect your controller to pc via Bluetooth by holding the pairing button and then going to connect devices, well I can anyway because it doesn’t work for some of my friends
will the headset adapter for the Skullcandy SLYR still fit with the paddles? the adapter looks like a bit bulky on the back?
This is defiantly not an overpriced product. Create a Scuf on their own site with the same specs. 50-80 more
And here is Scuf knowing that they're gonna lose, therefore creating the "Infinity Scuf". Honestly, it's not working :P Xbox just destroyed Scuf on the Xbox One side of things.

+Anthony Hernandez This isn't overpriced because there are more expensive controllers out there?
Value is perception. Jordan's are not worth 200 dollars but there is a market for them. Do you strictly buy second hand clothing causes it's cheaper? It doesn't matter what you compare it to. The market creates prices. If they sold this for a couple dollars more then standard why would anyone buy their other controls. They predicted selling this to 3-5% of their customers if it's out of your price range that is completely fine but the value is different for everyone. Don't try to think for an entire customer base.
Anthony Hernandez
Did I say anywhere that everyone agrees with me? I'm only talking for myself. You're right that they couldn't just sell them for a couple bucks more. But $150 seems unreasonably high to me personally, especially considering it's triple the price of a regular controller.
As for your clothing analogy: No I don't buy second hand clothing but I also don't buy overpriced branded clothing either.
Does it work with a chat pad?
It works with all controller accessories. Its still an Xbox controller lol
The Xbox One Wireless Adapter for controllers is going to be, or already is, available for use on Windows 7 and 8.1. Is the program to modify this controller available for Windows 7, or at least announced?
Any estimate on when we'll get the full Razer Wildcat controller review?
I find it hilarious that he says it's the best dpad ever for fighting games. Sega Saturn controller end of argument.
gross
Broseph Argon i want to get one for my pc but i only used ps controllers before do you think i would get used to the layout or not?
Broseph Argon It just i dont know anyone who tried both i just dont want to buy a $150 controller and feel weird about its layout
indeed
He didn’t, he said it was the best he’d ever used
2018 anyone?
Mhm
I have to agree since the start of this year I've bought loads of new peripherals a mechanics key new mouse mouse mat (not take a peripheral) and just today new headphones and mic
I'm a PC gamer and got this as a gift. I love it, especially for racing games, where I use the back flaps as paddle shifters. Otherwise, it feels great and has sturdy build quality. I would recommend it if it meets your budget needs.
What makes it "elite" is the fact that the rubber grips fall off in three months.
I have it for 4 years works like new and didnt peel neither broke anything
Awesome! Now I would sell my xbox to buy me this controller 😅
Sell your son.

I have the Elite controller and compared to my Scuff One its more feature rich and refined. However my Scuff has a very tough quality to it due to its military grade Scuff and Pro Grips. The paddles are harder to press but I have less accidental presses compared to the Elite. However the elite paddles can be manually switched on or off by double tapping the green sync button.
Also from what I have read on Scuff's website it looks like MS has partnered (and licensed its tech) with Scuff and they will be the official 3rd party pro controller accessory provider. Most likely we will see custom paddles or stick shafts eventually.
Told me everything I needed to know and more without being cringy. Thanks!
Over-priced and I don't like how the "magnetic" buttons don't stick (i.e. come off) when pressing the buttons hard enough.
I think I'll pass. :\
I love PS3 controller on PC.
ps3 is weakest controller what i have used and its very small
+Aaponton Yup PS3 controller is ass. Too small, shitty triggers, shitty handles, face buttons are too far apart, left analog stick is in a shitty position. Just overall unergonomic. (playing PS3 as I type this)
+StoreBrand Plus it's a goddamn nightmare to get working on PC. I switched to the PS4 controller and am very happy with it.
DrearierSpider1 how? i got my friends ps3 controller working on pc very easily only like 15min job
can you map the paddles to different buttons on a keyboard or only duplicate the buttons already on the Xbox pad
This controller used to feel so uncomfortable to me but now I can’t imagine playing without it. I only keep the A and B paddles on and it feels weird af to hold a normal control now lol. This thing is so worth it
I have this controller and it's really not that amazing to me. Yeah it's cool cause you can customize it and all, but it's just another controller.
Tornusage thanks?
why does it fit his comment
skypx it actually did lol
skypx have the trigger to the 1 so just touching shoots and aims. Use the small concave for the left and the higher one for the right. Use trigger stops and use the back pads to replace the A,B,X,Y
RandomUser M that'd be cool
don't see why it bothers luke about the pc support being an after thought, after all the controller IS made for xbox, the pc side did come after. if you want something specifically aimed for pc with tons of support then buy something made for pc and not xbox
Yea I don't think pc gamers will want a controller over keyboard and mice anyway
+northern marine It irks me too. It's because the PC gaming market is huge, and not all games PC gamers play are mouse and keyboard. Many games, and Indie games have controller input schemes that make the game more fun. So Microsoft go through all the trouble to make the Xbox controller PC compatible since the 360, and even bake in native drivers in win 10, test and make the product work... and then fail to spend basic QA time to catch basic bugs like missing labels on the controller software. It's baffling how a multi billion dollar company could reach 90% of completion of a fantastic product and just stop there.
+JWofles Some games are better with a controller.
+Michael Rahmani You dumb reeeaaal dumb. For FPS games no.
Blade Mastr I never fucking said you should play CS:GO with a controller. Some games are just better with a controller.
So is it compatible with the Microsoft gadget which comes with the Wireless handpiece? Or do I have to purchase yet another piece of equipment. My new MS handpiece is working well, but I can see the advantages of this one, as long as it's compatible of course.
are those replaceable button easy to lift off while playing games ?
Console gaming? Aim assist? ELITE?
You're killing me, Smalls. My sides can only take so much!
What are you trying to imply? All I could hear was
"Unnecessary hate! Unnecessary! Hate!
Un! Nes! Es! Sary! Haaaaate!"
After buying Halo... and being completely let down... as well as burning 60 bucks... I'm completely over console gaming. It is the biggest joke in the gaming world.
+Christian Neff holy fucking shit... this thing is 300 bucks... THIS is what I'm talking about. Microsofts console division is a bunch of hacks and scam artists.
+Christian Neff its 150 in us
+Christian Neff good for you.
now I'm sure you'll start begging for xbox games too.
+Christian Neff Really? Everyone else loves halo 5.
Really? All the DLC is free and forge is coming soon with new features? So much better than reach and 4 imo
Can you do a review on Razer Wolverine Ultimate, and another video comparing these two
Normal XBOX One Rechargeable battery works with the elite controller as well. Wasn't in the review. Also since the review a few kits of magnets have come out to replace the back buttons etc that are a bit better placement wise. More options at least :) Waiting for a good quality controller cover to come out but ... I have a nubby grip one that works OK for now.
I'll stick to my PS4 controller on PC for the moment. The trackpad is just extremly nice to have on a PC. And after a stick swap (back to ps3 style domes) everything is just perfect for me, triggers, buttons, dpad and comfort level.
One day Microsoft will realize that they have given the best gaming platform away to others. I mean all I get from Microsoft is their OS. I use steam to buy games, periferals from Logitech and Sony and hardware from loads of different companies. It would be possible that I'd buy all or most those things from Microsoft if they give a shit about me. But they obviously don't want my money. And at this point I don't think I need stuff to change. Other players have entered the game and have filled all my needs.
does the ps4 pad work OK on PC games without messing around with other programs, if it does I might get one.
Cloudbusters -
It does need a third party tool to make use of the touchpad and simulate xinput! It works without it but just as a generic controller which means some games that require xinput won't work. I strongly suggest using something like DS4windows, you can reprogram anything from buttons to the touchpad and you get full RGB control of the lightbar.
Look's amazing.
does the turtle beach headset adapter work for this controller I heard there's some problems with it?
great review, I liked your rant
so. how much did microsoft pay you?
Chicken Tendies none probably. Are you another one of those fanboys that hate the XB1 and it’s controller?
zincxDroid 27650 k how much did you abuse it? Mines fine and I’ve even accidentally dropped it. It’s built tough and the software is another pricey perk
Oh and I got a 3 year warranty that the company recommended for 5$. I’d say for 144$ the controller was worth it.
zincxDroid 27650 have had mine since release and it still is perfectly fine
It's an after thought for PC because it's a console controller..
+GucciMan No, it's a controller that works on both xbox and PC, so why does the PC version of the software have to be shitty?
+NoOne Its a console controller that works on PC.
+Sean Travis Yeah but it obviously also targeted at PC users because the software is on PC too, a console controller that works on PC is an xbox 360 controller or a ps4 controller, this is just a controller with a half assed job on the PC side of things.
+NoOne How is missing labels shitty? It's clearly a mistake they missed. A minor bug, and one I wouldn't even care that much about. Seems the software is pretty well done to even allow that level of customization in itself.
Its an XBOX controller first and a PC controller second
Can u mapp paddels to keyboard input? Or is it only mappes for controller buttons?
Someone please link me to the Linus Tech Tips T-Shirt Luke is wearing in this video, I checked out their District Lines store but couldn't find it. Thanks in advance! (:
