A playthrough of Taito's 1994 NES game, The Flintstones: Surprise at Dinosaur Peak.
This late-release and EXTREMELY rare (and thus, among the most expensive of NES games that you could attempt to buy) title is another lost goodie from Taito. Does it justify over a grand for a boxed copy? Absolutely not. If you could pick it up for $20 or $30 (it won't happen, I promise), then it's absolutely worth a play. The Surprise at Dinosaur Peak is good ol' simple platforming at its most charming on the 8-bit Nintendo.

An excellent NES platformer that you'll probably never get to play from a real cartridge unless you want to spend four digits on it, which is too bad. It's just as good as the first Flintstones, and right on par with Taito's other excellent forgotten classics that now cost and arm and a leg.

Even the intro screen gives you a feeling that this game will be bigger and better than the prequel, despite being on the same console. And oh Wilma, does this game deliver on that promise!

I have a completely battered cart with half the label missing, but it works! :) Most of the games I have complete, but I have no desire to pay for a box or a manual with this one lol.

Has anyone an idea about what you get by beating Harry at the two sport stages at 7:18 and 20:14? The manual does not say anything about it and I never saw any differences whatsoever after beating them, both in this playthrough nor by playing the game myself.
Edit: It can be that beating those stages you get the ability of not losing hearts when you lose a life until you get a game over but it is not clear.

Close! it seems that it keeps the additional heart permanently, unlike the heart pickups.
