Hey everyone! I hope this Eru recipe was helpful and easy to follow. The most common problem people have when cooking Eru is either putting too much Eru or too much spinach/water leaf.. So the Eru ends up too hard or too soft. Gradually adding the Eru like I did in the video is a good way to determine how much Eru you need.
You don’t have to use a lot of oil like I did if your not an oil fan. And if you don’t eat spicy food then cook it without pepper, but I must say pepper really takes Eru to another level! As you cook your Eru, make sure you select the long weird pieces out or it will be annoying to eat it.
Ingredients
Eru - 1 and a half 2 gallon zip lock bag
Spinach - 4 packs - I got it from giant
Palm oil - 6 cups
Crayfish - 1 cup (already blended)
Pepper - Put as much as you can handle
Beef bouillon - 3 table spoons
Salt 1 and a half teaspoon
Cook time - 20- 25 minutes
Cook on medium heat so the Eru doesn’t burn at the bottom.
Now go and make the best Eru ever! Come back and let me know how it turned out!

Hey everyone! I’ve contemplated for over a month if I should post this video or not, cause the video’s quality really disappointed me. But I decided to just post it since I don’t know when next I’ll be able to film an Eru recipe for you. I tried my best to explain with measurements and all since most of my videos are for beginners. Regardless of the quality, I still hope you enjoyed the video and learned something! And if you decide to try out my recipe, come back and let me know how it came out. Check the description box for ingredients and measurements! THE MEAT WAS COOKED BEFORE I ADDED IT IN THE ERU, that’s why I added it towards the end.
U try my dear
@@lucybessem9051 thank you mami! 😊
Honestly I'm so glad I found your video recipe :-) I'm a beginner because never really had mum to teach me growing up and I really want to learn how to cook our food. This recipe is the best I've come across and seems very similar to the eru we eat at home: even regarding the amount of palm oil and Spinach blend :-) haha. I'm sure your videos will really help me as well as others in my situation. Thank you so much and please keep doing what you're doing 👌🏾👍🏾✅
@@laura-sandy1492 Aww thank you so much sis, I’m really happy this video was helpful! 🙏🏿
You only melted the spinach and immediately added the eru to it. Please I wish to know if I missed something cus we usually boil the spinach a little before adding our eru. Good job by the way.

It’s absolutely a special dish!! And 😂😂😂 since you’re trying this recipe, you make the Eru and I’ll bring the fufu or gari!
@@stephanieasoh thank u.. pls watch my craft and will take take from their..
Sometimes I add crayfish to my food when I’m done completely 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Do you have any good vegan dishes? I'd love to try them. I suppose I could just take out the meat in this recipe but
Literally my faveeeeeee 😍😍 looks so good! I’m drooling
Somehow it’s becoming mine too! Thanks for watching 😘
What is Eru? I'm from Bangladesh and wanna know what's Eru called in english or bangla?cz I'm going to make this dish 😐
You Can cook!
Thank you! 🙏🏿
everybody just wants a taste you know you know
gonna be making this for my mama n sister
Awww sis, I know it will be super bomb when you make it! And thank you so much! 😘
Hi! Thank you so much for sharing. I just made this and it is very delicious. The eru leaves are still a little tough, not real tough but chewy. Is it suppose to be chewy. Just want to make sure I didn't right and if not what did I do wrong so I may get it right next time? Thank you again❤
Hey and yayyyy!! I’m so happy it came out delicious. And it just means you put too much Eru leaves. After adding the spinach, gradually add the Eru and taste or touch it to feel if it’s too tough. You don’t have to add all the Eru leaves at once. Or you can also add less Eru then once you’ve added the palm oil and realize that the spinach is too much, you can also add more Eru leaves then! Lol or if you realize it’s too tough after adding the palm oil, you can add a little more spinach to balance it!
Plus if it’s your first time cooking it, then you did an amazing job! The more you cook it the better it will become!
@@stephanieasoh Thank you so much. I will not give up on this. Its so good. It taste even better the next day. Im going to freeze this in small batches and try cooking the spinach and add the soup once the spinach water has cooked out.
You’re welcome love! And yess, Eru taste way better the next day!
Add more spinach to make the eru softer at your taste
@@stephanieasoh thank you so much for this video, I want to know how long it takes? Please 🙏🏽
Love it...ERU that went to UB
I like the idea of Spinach, crayfish and pepper blending 👌
This eru is eruing ❤
Thank you so much for watching!
Thanks l’m definitely gonna make this but question did u get the eru in a African store in America or did u get it in cameroun?
You’re welcome! I got the Eru from Cameroon.
@@stephanieasoh thank you I haven’t been to cameroun in so long and l don’t even think they sell it in African stores here but ima try to look and use ur recipe
They sell it in African stores here, even the Asian stores sell it too!
Hi I'm new to your channel your recipe looks delicious would it still taste good without using the Eru and just use the spinach with all the flavors added instead...
Hey love, thank you so much for being here! Unfortunately I’ve never tried it that way and unsure what the final results would taste like.
Hi Stephanie! Can I take images of eru from this video for my nutrition research? Also, do you have ekwang and ndole videos for same?
Yes of course!
@@stephanieasoh Thank you.
So overall how long does it stay on the fire? After u missed the spinach and Eru together?
Check the description box!
Where can the ingredients be purchased? remember we are not African so we do not know where to find the ingredients.
In addition to what Welcome's House, try Asian/Hispanic stores, they should have it!
Nice video I want to learn how to make eru, I am Nigerian. But you didn't say how long it has to stay on fire after all ingredients.
Thank you! Please read description box for all the extra information 😊
Also by pepper do you mean the vegetable green/red/yellow peppers that is just like a round shape and you can cut up, not spicy at all. Or do you mean the actual hot and spicy chillies?
Hey love! The pepper used in Eru is the hot and spicy one
@@stephanieasoh Thank you so much
Did you cook the meat aside before adding it in the pot ??
Yes!
Hello my dear. Pls I habe a question. I can not eat crey fish because I’m allergic to fish. Can I put something else for it? Anything without fish?
Thank for helping 🤣☺️
Hey love, unfortunately I’m not sure of what you can substitute for cray fish. You can cook it without and it will still be tasty. I’ve made Eru for poeple who don’t eat cray fish and it was still tasty.
#PARISMILAN
Did you cook the meat prior? Or raw beef?
I cooked it prior!
Chai chai chai manyu person in the house
Welcome sis!
What do you eat this with
Fufu like cassava fufu, pounded yam, and also gari that’s made like fufu ( eba )
Chaiii i love this soup... The only reason why i miss my Cameroon ex girlfriend
