I’m 21 but woah… this song is SO transcendental. Like I just got transported to a happy place where it’s bright and sunny and I’m just lying down in a large open grass field
Thanks for the lovely appreciation of what is now quite an old piece of music. That a younger person can relate to the sound and enjoy makes my day! Hope you also get to hear the following track on the Ralf/Florian album "Pineapple Symphony " It's also underappreciated by some way.
this song relaxes me so much. I have social phobia and recent years mild OCD. I get happy and relaxed. as if I'm in middle of a field dancing under a sunny sky... I liked Kraftwerk, but I never knew that they recorded this
This is before they went Techno. Their 1973 third album 'Ralf und (and ) Florian'. Check out their first and second albums 'Kraftwerk Vol. 1' (1970) and Kraftwerk Vol. 2 (1971). All three full albums are uploaded on CZcams. Vol. 1 and 2 are very experimental electronic music.
@Anthony Rodemus 100%, but post Radio Activity, they (with the advantage of hindsight) perhaps took the robot stuff to the point that it was camouflaging that their "creative peak" had passed. Not sure why they distance their early works, but as a follower from all those days ago,I feel they compare favourably.
That period from 73-76 where Kraftwerk, Harmonia, Cluster, Neu! and La Düsseldorf, amongst others, made such innovative music that is still ahead of its time.
What a beautiful sounding little tune .. and 37 years old - so ahead of its time RIP Florian Schneider and thank you so so much for the glorious music ❤️
Wayyyyyyy ahead of it's time, Still sounds quite fresh today. I find it hilarious that there are 17-20 year old recordings that sound very outdated, and this 40-year-old recording hasn't aged at all! Masterpiece from start to finish. Shame Tanzmusik is one of Kraftwerk's obscurer tracks.
I agree! I feel that before their "Trans-Europe Express" song, which finally crosssed the line into full-fledged dance-elctronica (1978), Tanzmusik is the one track that went into it's own unique zone. It's the one that went to Heaven. (Incidently, 1978 also had Donna Summer's "I Feel Love." 1978: The birth of electonic dance-music?
It's like an illustration of human emotions through the instruments, the music and that mesmerizing John Whitney animation. Unbelievably tender, I feel something quite strong when I hear this song and the only way to express it is by crying.
My first time seeing this video with Kraftwerk's "Tanzmusik" from their 1973 album 'Ralf und Florian'. I bought the LP in sometime in 1973 when I was 17 years old. Next time I click on this I will have the very special Gummy Bears (one) and wait for it to kick in and go on that special space journey with Kraftwerk.
I do not really know because I have lost my head for some time! In any case, this magnificent music beyond all reason helps me to fall asleep peacefully. And it's happy because my invasive neuroses nibble at my healthy thoughts and I go around in circles my sickly madness. I’ m a great composer and I suffer from not being recognized anymore !
A perfect example of how profoundly heartfelt, emotional, and human that electronic music can be. This is a very spiritual song... Reminds me of childhood (my dad used to play it for me) and brings tears to my eyes.
Kraftwerk's ralf hutter and florian schneider invented this symphony for entertaining the people in a mondial german artistic gymnastics competition of 1973, you know? Interesting, eh? 💃🕺🤸♂️🤸♀️🎼🎵🎶
They started plugging. Shit in the wall in there. Basement and beating on pie pans in 1971 electric dance music then wow, I love them , they go good which a weekly 5000 boombox
Strange that Hutter never talk about "before" Autobahn...This obssession of binar language, perfection of octet musique with album 1(Autobahn) to 8...Ralf and Florian album was so good even if it was "prehistoric " Kraftwerk...
Agree! I love this part of the band, this track is so pure, so calm. And also I think the (after then Neu!) part of the band give it a special touch to the sound of the band too. It's really interesting and quite annoying that Ralf wants to ignore this past of Kraftwerk
The Orb played this at the end of their Glastonbury 93 set. ( it’s on CZcams) It was accompanied by a “Hyper- strobe” which was lighting up the clouds!!! What a way to send us spangled individuals into the night🤪 What a wonderful weekend that was😀 Peace and love ❤️
Wow, I was at that and I remember the strobe vividly. I don’t remember them playing this but I don’t doubt you for a second. Their music was always more like a dj set than something carefully composed. Thanks for the memory.
@@arronharrop7605 There are a lot of theories about this. Some say that due to Phillips ownership of the rights, Kraftwerk can't claim the pre-autobahn albums. Others say that due to the fact of being conceptual/experimental albums, Hütter disowned this albums for not being compatible with his "robotic" and "perfect" concept that Kraftwerk has now.
kraftwerk before kraftwerk on LSD, some different version i think, but kraftwerk made more versions than i can dreamin', so still good genuine version! :) yes! without that isn't music history complete, right?
Have you heard a '8-bit operators' version of this music? Maxi energetic - I feel some kind of electrospasm when play it. I recomend whole album but "Tanzmusic" and "Pocket calculator" are my favourite... Rather NOT for orthodox fans... ;-)
There is no other Kraftwerk album like this one. This was a transition album from the early free-form format to a more structured format. This is a very good album but doesn't really match their later albums. Autobahn would come out a few years after this album. Then Radioactivity, Man Machine, etc. Good luck finding this, quick check at Discogs showed prices starting around $20.00 US. Amazon started at $75.00. Highly recommended for your collection.
@@scotnee9516 I wondered for the longest time whether I was the only American who'd purchased "Rolf & Florian" back in 1975. I would've never known about this album had it not been for their break-out "Autobahn." I bought THAT album first and that's what got me researching Hütter & Schneider and whether they'd put out any other comparable work, and I found this -- which actually pre-dated "Autobahn." Not every track is enjoyable to listen to, but this and "Kristallo" are my top two.

I am a big fan of Kraftwerk and yet I did not know this beautiful piece. Always great.
As a teenager I would listen to this vinyl in my room with candles lit and the lights off and just drift away........

What a joyful mix of childhood and future.
It's a beautiful 😍 tune Ralf and Florian ever made
One of the most beautiful song from theirs... 💓
R&F is a very ethereal album...
Which other KW songs do you like?

Indeed.. Can was a good one too
And Tangerine Dream! That was probably their most inventive period of music.
We dont have to forget Conrad Plank who learnt very much to Ralf and Florian about how to use synths..."Without him no Kraftwerk" said Wolfgang Flür.
And Edgar Froese founding member of 'Tangerine Dream' in Germany started out in 1968. May he Rest In Peace as well with Florian Schneider.
Grab some one and waltz away❤
What a beautiful sounding little tune .. and 37 years old - so ahead of its time

I totally agree, but just had to add that it's actually 47 years old (1973).

To all non-germans: "Tanzmusik" means "dance music". I agree with the title, no doubt.
Honestly the track feels like the spirit of Christmas
it's kinda obvious when you think about it, just say "tanzmusik, dance music" a bunch of times and you'll see they sound similar
I thought “Tanzmusik” meant “Trance music” and I agreed with that title because of that but it seems like that wasn’t it lol
