They deserve it, but they put them in the "Early Influencers" categories. If there's one band that competes with The Beatles for having the largest influence on popular music, it's Kraftwerk! They should be in the main category!
This song reminds me of a lot. The empty hours that fill the space where electrons and copper wire weave through the darkness of city streets, dimly lit with incandescent lights. Watching the cars and lights go by, looking out the window into midnight. It also reminds me of the movie Ghost in the Shell.

Mu father had multiple kraftwerk albums, and these tracks always bring back a nostalgic feeling of the early 2000s for me when computer science was really taking off
Thats the only song from Kraftwerk which is better in english than in german. Do you guys remember the time when family members or friends were nearly completely out of your life while they were on vacation or especially when they moved away to another city? The only chance beside visitings to be connected with the people you love was a expensive phonecall from time to time. Billions of people world wide with really heartbreaking moments at the phone. I think it´s hard for the younger people who grew up with internet, smartphones and all that to understand the melancholy of this song.
No, some of their songs--as previously mentioned--sound much better in English than they do in the original German. Thus, your lengthy response was not only utterly and embarrassingly incorrect but also entirely irrelevant.
I couldn't remember the name of this, since my early teenage years till I am now 40 and still know the words.. Long live Kraftwerk, thanks for making the coolest music ever.
Electric Cafe is where it started for me. A 00's teen cutting his teeth on such delicatessen. I think it was due to Coldplay lifting a piece from Computer Talk that sparked in interest in Kraftwerk, if not, I was big into Moby back then and using the internet to find other artists that share space in electronic/techno quarters. This album got me through terrible years in high school for sure.
they played this at the nightclub saturday and me and a few other people were dancing and trying to look up this song to listen to later at the same time, lol, biggest hit of the night all the way in 2022! a lot of us were just old enough to remember when the only way to call internationally was on the telephone line and remember how much it meant to be able to call people overseas more easily, so it hits different for us :)

Oh I remember this one all too well. I was quite active in the blinds association in the late 80s in Sweden. By that time the government decided to drastically raise the price for called number lookup service from pretty much free to around 20 SEK, quite a naughty price shock for us who couldn't read the printed versions, and just to be clear this was way way before any Internet services was ever considered to be deployed in Sweden. There where BBS numbers one could call if one had a modem, but we did neither have that or a computer at home. Long story short. After the action we had the day before the price raise would take effect was to broadcast through community radio to tell people about the changes.
