  • Arabic has a uniquely engineered linguistic system, and students must know it well to move to the higher levels. This system is reflected in what we'll touch on today, the Arabic root س ل م . Let's explore!

Thanks for another great lesson. Every time I plateau in my Levantine studies, you provide educational opening to reach new heights. Could you do the root JMA (gathering/grouping)?

Professor thank you so much for the video! I see that you took my advice from the last video and started color-coding the verb forms! When I made that comment, I was more thinking of changing the color of text for each word that belongs to a particular verb-form group, but the way you did it also works. I have no idea if you are able to change the color of the actual text, it seems like you are since you already make your fusha verbs & nouns red, but maybe you might want to think about doing that for each word, as I said earlier. You could keep putting all the fusha in red, and then attribute a specific color to each verb-form group, and maintain that color for future videos. So that would mean that all Form-I words would be in black, say for example, and all Form-II words would be in green, etc., and that in future videos, Form-I words would still be in black, Form-II words still in green.
Just an idea. I am happy however with the way you did it in this video, I just think the intention would be even clearer if you did it word by word, and I think the board would stay a little neater that way too.
Anyway, great video, professor. Keep making us these awesome videos and thank you so much.

Alif Lam Mim. Etymology, root SLM, etyma LM لَمَّ ٱللّٰهُ شَعَثَهُ God rectified, or repaired, and consolidated, what was disorganized, disordered, or unsettled, of his affairs. Now the meaning of the previous S = an ongoing, effort to maintain something, the لمم. So ? Where is the meaning of Submission in the word Muslim or Islam ? Islam is an infinitive, a set of actions for Salaam. It's not about Peace, polysemic latin concept.

@@defiantfaith324 We saw the etyma, anciant semitic root, now the archetyps : S = ongoing, its strengh within, so the word سبح ; L = the Dedication, so the word إله toward Him ; M = the Matter, the source of the source, the space and time, so the word Ummah and Iman. This is etymology. The arabic fusha is a pur miracle, mubiyn, the Qiblah of the human languages, and a language is a system of believes, originally, surah 2.31 and Genesis verse 2.19. The word علم same etyma, same archetyps within, except the first letter : ع the observation, perception. Never trust the translations of arabic. Islam is not about Peace, since the war is permitted, but the Effort muslim gives in this matter, this world, rules according to Qur'an and the Sunnah of the last Allah's messenger.
