- 67 and older VW busses Split window event. Coronavirus has canceled almost every show so everyone who could came to this VW show and swap meet. They must have gotten it approved as a swap meet

Great video Mike. So nice to do the walk around with you, especially those of us who would never have chance to be there...some stunning examples. My favourite was the Kombi, grey body and black detail with the sun roof. Very smart vehicle.
I was just at the 73 bus. I haven't seen it in 10 years. I was driving it. when I sold it. They are giving back to me. They let it go and it's going to be a few years till I can get it driving again. Busses forever!

Amazing, love that they’re in all sorts of different conditions, too.
Owned a few, 57' single cab, 60 dual cab w/Wolfsburg features. (Gauges,steering, shifter, handles.) 70 fastback, 71 square back. 68 transporter.
Pleasant memories I passed along.
Almost forgot, sweet 60 transporter.

Brings me back to my bus days. I remember the club " Box on wheels" as to use to be one of the origonal members back in the 90s. I use to have a 57 pgsg standard deluxe. It disappeared and I was never able to find it again. I still have my dealer papers and pink and other memos. Wish I can find it again but not can't even afford to.

was talking to Charlie Hammel ( host of the show.) He REALLY wants to see it. He was considering doing it because it was the oldest but too much time invested. He thought it was cool that it was being saved in any course and thought the square tubing was innovative. to get it done.
I was in line for over 1 hour that day 🤣

Woah I saw 1968 bay window double cab, is that allowed? I think it qualifies since it was manufactured in 1967 (while splitties were still being made)
only allowed if selling parts. and pay the extra cost for vendor pass. $$$
I did enjoy the commentary about the bus meet and the videos,thank you for that,one bus you highlighted I believe was a Kombi that was red bottom black top with 4 sale sign inside that said 400k or negotiable,was that man serious.I did not think it was a specialty bus .just asking 😎😎👍👍
Extremely rare original "barn door" deluxe. I personally think that is about 4 times what it "could" sell for, but remember it only takes one suck...er, buyer to make a legit sale. There are other busses like it in the world, but not many that are currently known.

there was a right hand drive 23 window barn door. Only 3 known to exist in the world. first one on the pan shots of the show

very few believe it or not. I am amazed how many people dont watch youtube. There are totally different people at events then on youtube. BUt there were about 5 to 8 people who did find me.

For those that went, how are prices (parts)? Still nutz? I need a rear gate (60’s)in fair condition. See any?
yea I saw a guy with all 3 but I dint ask how much, also a guy who had the SC stripped had all the parts and sold them so cheap. I missed the side treasure chest door latches. he had several at 20 a piece. Some guy bought them all and I am sure they will be on the samba at 250 each.

Yes. I saw at least two BD SCs in this video. The dove blue one was very early. Smooth gates are the earliest trucks, '53 and earlier from the factory.
@@ocavant It's funny to call them Barn Doors but I understand why. I would love to have one of those. My 1968 DC is my dream truck, I am a huge fan of all single cabs and double cabs, I just have a preference to the look of the bay window version. I prefer bay window cabs and split buses. It is cool to see the seamed double cabs too.
