- A lot of people have been upset that their regular microphone won’t work with their little camcorder, so I made this video to show a cheap solution.
This iMICE 3.5mm shotgun mic was bought on Ali Express for $15.13 Canadian delivered to the door.
It takes one AAA battery and that’s it...you’re set. - Sport
Dude. I just watched like 3 other videos trying to figure out the issue. None of them mentioned this. Thank you!
Great to hear. I'm not a tech person, by any means, so when I find something out like this I like to pass it along.
Really helpful I was actually able to find the same one on eBay self powered even came with an extra battery for just in case plus it was 9 and some change
link?
So to say that for camcorders it will only work with battery powered mic? I had the canon XA11 and tried using 2 external mics that are not powered by any batteries and i got no audio. Can we call Canon customer service to check with them is it that their camcorders will only work with battery-powered external mics?
I encountered the same issue with my Canon VIXIA HF G21 / LEGRIA HF G26. I connected a Rode Micro Go microphone, but no sound came through. Then I tried the Canon DM-E100 Mic (both Dynamic mics), still with no luck. Finally, I attempted the Rode Video Mic Pro (a battery-powered mic), and to my surprise, I got sound! I was utterly confused as to why this was happening; I even suspected my camcorder was faulty. After conducting some research, I discovered that many others were facing the same issue. I find it bizarre that Canon couldn't design the camera to work with Dynamic mics, especially considering the premium price tag on their top-end models.
Thanks for your support....
We are using Sony hdr sr1 model with Ahuja external powered microphone, it's wireless... But it brings air noice..kindly help me to record videos with clear sound quality.
Does it mount on the Camera? And would it be good for loud enviroments like cocerts
Just A Pair of Legs It would if your camera has a mount. Mine doesn’t but I use with an extended cord and mount it on a small desk tripod for sound. Not sure how levels or quality would be for a concert.
Direct Motocross thank you when i saw slayer for insteads a lot of the videos i saw the Microphone sounds were popping
I was not able to catch the make and model of your new micro phone. Tried several times to hear it. Thank you
It’s in the description - iMice from Ali Express. It’s not high quality by any stretch of the imagination but it shows the solution to the problem.
Thank you, Ford it record in stereo?
Does it record in stereo?
@@Facewest I believe sound came through both speakers. It's a stereo mic with 3 pins.
hi does the mic be stereo when pluged in thanks
With my camcorder plugged into a TV using HDMI cable should I beagle to hear audio direct even before going to record mode.
Is there a way to use the Rode? Like give it a power source while using it with your camera?
I don't know what you mean by "give it a power source." I have a RODE that works on my DSLRs but not on these little camcorders because it does not take batteries. If you buy a RODE that is powered, it will work. Hope that helps.
I know this is an old post but if connect a USB mic to the computer the computer will power it then use a mic 3.5 Jack on both ends plug one on the mic and the other to the camcorder and that takes care of the problem .ps you need to have a mic that has a head phone plug . the blue yeti has one but I’m sure there are other . I’m sure by this time you have already taken care of the issue .
nice this camera
may i know what series it is and what brand?
Truthfully, it's just the cheapest, powered shotgun microphone I could find on Ali Express. It doesn't even have a brand name on it!
Does it record in stereo? L and R channels?
Finally not some freaking sony camera
I have the exact same camcorder. I plugged a mic in and wouldnt work. Just mute. So do they make a shirtclip mic thats powered? Cause your saying it has to be a powered mic right?
I’m definitely saying it has to be powered. I Googled “Powered lapel microphone” and found a bunch. Have a look.
@@DirectMotocross thanks brother. I looked at several yesterday and ordered one. Ill give it a try this weekend. Just aggravating that it has to be a powered mic. Thanks for the input.
you got the $15 quality.
This video was just to show that a powered mic is what you need in this situation. Spend all you want. 👍
Nice info guys..
I did that but it is still not working, question… when you input the external mic, the camera internal mic should deactivate automatically right? or they are on together at the same time?
It should go immediately to the shotgun microphone you have attached. Replace your mic batteries, connect it to the camera and tap the end of the mic to see which one is working.
You might need to go into your camera settings and change the audio recording device manually. Most will let you choose between the internal mic or an external one if its connected. Refer to your cameras instruction booklet and it should tell you how to do it.
Why won't the other mic work? I have that mic I want to use it for my camcorder.
Needs to be a powered mic with it’s own battery power source.
the battery for the rode is infront
Is there a wireless microphone that will work with this camera? Trying to make fitness videos.
Did you find one ?
is it possible to use the rode wireless on my cannon vixia, please
I'm sorry, I don't have an answer for this.
I have a 4k vlogging camera cheapo bought from tiktok. It's actually a great camera. But I have a batteryless shotgun mic aswell. I've tried trrs to trrs cable, trs to trrs and vice versa. Works on my phone great but I'm sure our phones send power aswell as audio and my cheap vlogging camera is not????
Yeah, but how you gonna mount it?
I only use this set up for stationary recording with mic mounted on a small tripod on my desk. There are probably some clip-on mounts you can get but I haven’t researched that.
How do you get it to attach to the camera
For what I use this camera for, I’m mounting it on a small tripod on a desk and not on top of the camera. There is no mic mount on this little handicam. There are probably some clip-on mounts available but I haven’t researched that.
@@DirectMotocross There actually is a mount on the camera itself. Its the square right on top of the camera. Just slide out the filler piece, unscrew the wheel piece and it will slide in easily.
Do u know how to attach it to the camcorder
This particular camera does not come with a microphone mount. I connect it to lengthy cords and then mount on a tripod for static streaming shots etc.. Obviously, not ideal for hand-held action shooting. There are likely some clip-on attachments available but I haven’t researched that.
Camera name and model
This is a Canon VIXIA HF R600.
How can we pause video during recording
you didnt show us mounting it
No mounting options on this camera built in. I just use this set up for desk/static shooting with it mounted on a small tripod not on the camera. Sorry.
Jaystepher?????!???
Microphone Sound poor. Jeanne
Thanks for the message. You can spend an awful lot on a microphone. The point of this video was simply to show that a handicam that won’t work when you plug in your mic needs one that has its own power.
Man this product work sony hdr cd 405 pleas answer me
If that particular camera requires a "powered" mic, then I would assume so. If you have a non-powered microphone plugged in and it doesn't work, I would suggest that is the issue.
@@DirectMotocross I have an old Sony HDR-CX150, it is still like brand new, it records amazing, but it doesn’t come with an external mic input, is there a way to connect to an external mic?
@@seekfactsnotfiction9056 Unfortunately, my knowledge runs out at the end of the video we posted. If it has no input for audio, I REALLY have no answer for you there. Sorry.
