Mel, I started watching you just after Jonah was born. You have made so many changes! I am a person with adhd and other mental health issues, please remember one thing- you are a person too. You are not just a wife, mother, employee, friend, career, school mum, your children's mum. You are Mel. You have a name and had a life and were an entity before all this. Find who she was before this life. You are not a failure. You are human. We make mistakes, but how will we learn if we don't? Look at how you have made the changes to your life. You did all that with 4 children, 1 income, mental health issues, studying, CZcams, and now working full time AND doing videos. My God, Mel, you are a bloody powerhouse. It's not your job to put yourself last. It's your job to ensure you are taken care of so you can take care of your family, life work, etc. 💜🧡🩷
I hope you see this and it brings some... relief or knowledge that you are not alone and you matter to others more than you can possibly know.

Do not feel bad about being in a rental. Owning a home can be overwhelming and stressful. We’ve had a couple years of everything that could go wrong in a home has gone wrong. Big ticket repairs and mandatory replacements have put us in deep debt. We are in such a vulnerable financial situation that we fear anything else will devastate us. There was many many days I wish I could have made a phone call to a landlord and make it their problem. The only things that matter is that you are all together and healthy. Good luck to you

We’re in the same situation now, our water tanks are cracked, the fence is falling down, so many things wrong with our house at the moment.

    • @YunuPolsen
      @YunuPolsen Před 3 měsíci +2

Homeownership is financially stressful. Recognizing that the full cost of repairs & replacements fall on us, my hubby and I have set up so MANY sinking funds to cover those costs that will eventually come (cost to replace appliances, fence repairs, gutter repairs, roof replacement, etc., etc., ECT...😮). We are extremely grateful to be homeowners as we see the cost of renting going up and up, but sometimes it does seem that we are working just to fund our house.

    • @cathie-aussiegirl6547
      @cathie-aussiegirl6547 Před 3 měsíci

@@YunuPolsen. We had money ready for a new fence and a couple of other bits but then hubby’s contract wasn’t renewed back in late November, he still hasn’t got a job, plenty of ongoing interviews (one since December which is still going) but no job as yet. I’m pretty much housebound from chronic illnesses but not disabled enough for Centrelink, they class me as an invalid, so yeah it’s been a crap 6 months. Hubby is leaving to do tractor work on a farm up in Mackay in a few weeks just so there’s some money coming in. Don’t know why I wrote an entire novel, sorry about that. 😅

Girl, we all have struggles! I like your car analogy, but allow me to make a couple additions, and advice, if I may. We all know cars need fuel to run, and the more efficient the fuel the better it runs. I'm not going to tell you how to eat, but I would strongly suggest reducing the processed foods because they mess up your gut microbiome, which is where depression starts and travels to your mind via the vagus nerve. Fix the gut, fix the thoughts. Ok, next up is the oils and transmission fluid needed to run the car, aka vitamins and minerals. Try this and see if you don't feel better in just 2 weeks... 1. Vitamin B Complex that says either Methylated or Bioactive, take daily, 2. Vitamin D3 + K2, and take 20,000 IUs (500 mcg) daily, 3. Omega 3's, and maybe the most important part... 4. a GOOD pre/probiotic. Go to your local pharmacy or druggist or whatever its called there and ask for the kind that is refrigerated behind the counter. Get the kind with the highest CFU's. In the US we have a kind called VSL#3 that is over the counter but pharmaceutical grade, but ask the pharmacist for advice on a brand. I bet you see a difference starting in 2-3 days and feel like a whole new person within 3 weeks. And once you see the difference these make, consider adding in a Magnesium supplement too, preferably Magnesium Glycinate which helps with sleep, anxiety and inflammation. Seriously, try the supplements without changing anything else... don't worry about your diet or sleep schedule or any of the things "they" tell you to do for self care. I really think you will see an improvement, and once your chemistry and microbiome start getting back in order you'll notice other things like cravings going away, sleep getting better, hormones balancing out, etc. I not only got my mood under control, I also reversed my autoimmune condition!

You DID it though! And look at the beautiful home you have now. I don't like change & the immediate life change you had to make would have been too much for me. Keep your chin up, Mel. Big hugs to you.

I became a SAHM and paid for it financially. My kids are now young successful adults so I now know that I did the right thing. Give yourself grace. You did the right thing at the right time, and now you made the right decision to go back out to work.

I cried through this video as it mirrored my life four years ago in many ways. I had hit rock bottom & couldn't see a way. Fortunately, finally, I was thrown a lifetime & I grabbed onto it with both hands. My life is better, but still has its challenging moments as life tends to do. I've learned that I have to take care of myself before I can take care of others or other aspects of life. You've got this, Mel! You are stronger than you think, but you need to prioritize self-care. Love the car analogue. Just had my older car in for service & compared the need for a tune-up to myself & my life. Praying for you.❤

Mel, it's really good to see you. Welcome back! I just want to tell you I understand all too well about what your going through. I deal with depression and anxiety. Give yourself some grace. I went through the same thing you're going through last year with the moving thing. (Except out landlord was raising our rent to high that we couldn't pay it) It took time, but we finally found a place. We were scared and didn't know what was going to happen. We kept searching and praying. Things worked out for our good. All I can is God took good care of us.
Mel, your mental health is so important. Do whatever it takes to get yourself in a better state of mind. I am happy that you and your family have a nice home to live in. God bless you and your family. 🌿🪻🌸🪻🌸🪻🌿

Mel! We rented until we were 35 & hubby was 36! No shame. All of our family siblings etc all bought a house when they were like 25. House prices are crazy now they were not back then but still we could not afford one.
Hubby was in the service for 6 years so when he got out it was like starting all over again a with a 2 year old to boot!
Yes depression is hard to understand unless it happens to you! I heard a therapist on instagram describe it as having a blanket covering you and you could not get it off aka unable to make yourself to get off the couch even know you should.
Many times my sister would call me or text me and say just go outside and get some sunshine and sit in your swing or take a shower but I couldn’t,
I didn’t do it!!! My husband would say every day before he went to work just go take a shower and you feel better You know what you need to do but then you don’t have the ability to do it. I understand!
    Hugs to you ! xoxoxoxo

Mel, you are doing a great job. Psychologically moving house is equivalent to a death in the family... I learnt that in my first year studying to be a psychologist in Uni. It is in the top most stressful events. I changed degrees when I discovered you can't be brutally honest with clients but you have to let them discover things on their own!
I think in time being a creator on youtube will be in the top most stressful job.
You feel compelled to constantly create content which is not good for your mental health.
I often have anxiety just having to read my emails and often miss important email... modern lifestyle is angst ridden.
You keep going Girl... you've got this..

Awww Mel, there is always opportunity cost. Being home with the kids is a huge opportunity that you don't get later. Owning a house, if you want, totally doable later..... as another possible mindshift, many people that take early retirement find that if they had bought a house there was no way they could have retired. Not sure how eclipses really work, but if you guys have an eclipse happening tomorrow like we do, they make great times to let go of some of the yucky stuff from the past. Maybe some visualizations or guided meditation for letting go can help reduce the emotional trauma even though you will always have the memories. Big Hugs!

I am never to act on how I am feeling in the moment, because I will not feel that way forever. It always passes, it will always pass. It doesn't mean it's easy, but it gives me comfort. Mel, we all make decisions that were made for the best reason at the time, with all best intentions. Sometimes the decision is the right one. Sometimes it’s not. All we can do is learn from it. That’s why I keep telling my children that life is one huge lesson, we are here to learn, therefore it’s okay to make mistakes or to make decisions that others don’t agree with. Be kind to yourself, be gentle to yourself, most importantly forgive yourself. I don’t see the shame in renting, everyone of us has different reasons. Sometimes I think it would be easier if we had rented, we can just give notice and move elsewhere without the faffing about with putting our house up for sale and such.

When moving especially when you have anxiety and depression can be so stressful but again you have done it, what a very special lady you are definitely not a disappointment and on top of everything else you have raised 4 children one of the hardest thing to do when suffering Mental Health but you did it. Love always beautiful lady and all the best❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Is not easy to keep on top of house work with many family members in a house.
You have to work and study.
Ya list out the tasks to complete for the day.
But not to list too many.
If unable to complete you may get depressed.
Get your children to help out.
Put dirty dishes into the sink not to leave on dinning table.
Older children help to load and unload dishwasher.
Older children put their own load laundry to wash.
Put away their own clothes after washed in their own bedrooms.
Dirty laundry not to put on the floor.
    ❤ Good video.

The house is lovely. If home ownership is what you want, you still have many years to make it happen. I know a couple who retired and used their super to buy a house, after having rented their whole lives.

This is our plan. Right now we travel, do experiences and pay for our kids schooling, so for us if we owned right now we would just be working to pay a house that we would never leave and we would have to take our kids out of their school. Having previously owned a house I understand just how much extra $$$$ it takes. It would destroy us with todays current costs. There’s nothing wrong with owning a home, I just don’t want to put myself in a position where we would struggle so much. Mel has time and I’m sure she will make her dream come true ❤

sooo good to see you Sweetie, now that you have moved in, I hope everything will begin to go back to normal for you and all the negative thoughts and anxiety will slowly drain away. Are you practicing gratitude??? I found that writing things I was thankful for helped me. It is amazing how much we have to be grateful for, that we take for granted every day, and you were really lucky, especially scoring your new home. Seeing you like that made me tear up and want to cry. I hope you continue to try and fit CZcams in occasionally, I always look forward to seeing your lovely face, see, something to be thankful for! 😘

Mel I missed you!! It’s so nice to see you again. I wanted to thank you for that car analogy. It makes so much sense, and as someone who also suffers greatly with depression it resonated with me so much. Unfortunately I don’t have an understanding boss.. and work is the most stressful thing to do when I am struggling the most. I wish more people understood how it feels. I’m so sorry you have been struggling my dear friend and I hope that you emerge from the “service station” and take some “scenic routes” along the way ❤ you and your channel mean a lot to me, Mel, and I really appreciate you. Thank you for this video. I was feeling low and this motivated me to go and paint my nails, and now every time I look at them, I’ll think of you and this video and how it made me feel understood. Thank you again. It means more than you know ❤

Mel, Welcome Back! I've missed you. I love the new house and the blue tile is so pretty. I have blue accents, blue couch and recliner in my apartment so I just love the tile. My depression and anxiety has been triggered lately when my health problems become an issue. I've been isolating myself too much and I know that is not good. Then I feel guilt about it and as you mentioned in so many words that we are hardest on ourselves. It is just so good to have you back because you are someone that understands what I'm going through. I hope you realize how much your speaking about depression and anxiety has touched me so much and I'm sure the same is for many others who watch your channel. I truly empathize with you and you have my support and prayers. Mel, you've been through so much and it may be hard but you'll get through this too. I'm sorry my comments are always so long. Take care! Love ya! 💙💙💙

Not through the whole video yet. I cried in my 30’s all the time. I was a sensitive child just I just figured it was my disposition. Through lots of school meetings I cried. Our son gets accommodations. I had a personal goal not to cry during an annual meeting. My period had started winding down. Then I realized I was going through the change not young enough for it to be medically early, but way early on the normal range. 42 was my last and for years few and far between. Looking back a far bit of the emotion was more about that than just feelings and I wonder if I would have done been had I realized earlier and managed the change better. Not saying anything is the change. Just there might be other things going on that will lead to an ah ha moment later on. Life was hard when my son hit the toddler age. Then at 4 1/2 we got a diagnosis and there was an ah ha moment. Same with the change, after I realized.

If you bought years ago you might have had great stress needing a new roof, having to move cause of work or kids school and moving while owning has its own stresses. Life just manages to give people a mix of stress and gratitude.

Hi Mel, love the new home, very posh looking, so sorry to hear that you have been struggling with mental health problems, it's a hard path to travel and I wish I could just give you a Big Hug and take it all away but I know it's not how it works 😢, I have an 8 week cycle for 7 weeks i try not to think about the myeloma and then I have blood tests and wait for hematology to ring me with the results and check how I'm doing and it's hell waiting for the call but i have been told that I'm stable for now so I just need to recover from my latest surgery and enjoy life and you my friend are a good part of my life even if we never meet face to face, stay strong and committed to making the journey through this stage of life with everything going on as joyful as possible and I know that you will have a good life because you are a good person and you deserve a happy life with your family and friends. ❤
