      Yes I did not pay much attention to actual skill development. Work environment colleagues bosses HRs are temporary comes and goes but skillset is the main permanent entity.

    1) roles and responsibility, expectation in 30 days 2) spend initial days in identifying who are the decision makers and who are the influencers 3) informally inform the manager that you are not getting good support 4) understand the eco system in the initial days 5) don't offend the existing senior ppl, don't talk about previous glory if you are joining the running team.

    When training is questioned managers are grined face, as the key challenge for new person in the project is to build relationships and gain acceptance ...no one likes oversmart person, person has to carefully tread the behavior of peoples, then embark on next level of initiatives

  • @nishantb80
    @nishantb80 Před 8 měsíci +6

    This is a typical scenario that I have been facing in my last few jobs, where the managers are Indians. On the other hand, my non-Indian managers made sure that there's a plan set - trainings, KT, documents, realistic timelines, etc. So, now I know who to ask and what to ask and be straight. If it works, it works, or I simply say bye bye. It's a pathetic situation, but that's how IT is in more than 70% to 80% of the cases in India. You would be lucky to have some understanding and support to succeed if you have Indian managers or seniors for most cases. I did have good Indian managers, the percentage is less though. I feel sorry for the younger generation. I hope this negative and poisoning culture changes sooner than later. If the HR department of your company doesn't work independently, then you are more likely to face this. I have seen companies with very strong and ethical HR departments that fire IT heads and India heads.

    • @Satarupa902
      @Satarupa902 Před 8 měsíci +1

      Thats why I plain avoid talking to managers at all or even attend their calls if the KT docs are not ready and the existing POCs dont release dependency, stop pursuing further.

    • @Satarupa902
      @Satarupa902 Před 8 měsíci

      @@nishantb80agree 100%. Initial level KT is required in form of recordings, rest of the work employees can manage easily. And regarding managers, seriously I avoid talking to them as much as I can. Fact is we get tempted to reach out to manager if there is mismanagement in team. But that is seriously a blunder step I took because the damage is already existing.

    There are companies that misuses their NEW joinees be it fresher or experienced and they not only assign more work to them and also use them in multiple areas that are irrelevant to their skills for which they were not hired for because they are more vulnerable,can't say no to the work that are given and somehow they want to prove themselves in new roles but whereas the experienced guys in the team,pick only the limited taks that they are comfortable with and the higher management knows this very well but they can't question them just because they have a good rapport and they are senior resource in the project etc..eventhough we learnt to say NO after sometime, it was not heard..they know very well that this person wud stay in the company atleast for a yr and won't have the tendency to leave the job immediately joining in the company..but by that time,they would get their job done..At the same time employee will get used to be adjusted with this..any suggestions how do we handle this situation?

    • @Satarupa902
      @Satarupa902 Před 8 měsíci +1

      Dont talk to the boss at all, its a trap which you will be tempted to do. If coworkers call, decline their meetings repeatedly or refuse to pay them any attention or engage in any conversation. Establish that your time is important and you dont want to deal nonsense. People will then start getting furious when you dont react according to their plan. Understand the plan. After that they will be forced to play according to you and you will be in charge of the entire game.

      @@mohibquadri4053 When you are a fresher or new joinee, you will be assigned a certain POC for helping you to get through at initial level of job. Ask any queries to him or her. In worst situation if the POC is not doing his or her job of making your job easier and trying to play games and not leaving dependency, you already know what the situation is in just one day or two. Start ghosting them and stop attending any meetings, if they call you dont pick their calls and constantly reject them. Dont contact manager or HR even by mistake.
