My point is, similar limitations are probably the reason a lot of vehicles in the game are not considered amphibious like the one in the video, but the bmp still is.

Most you need to do is to hold all the hatches/doors sealed, no "skirts", no airbags, just go ahead and start floating. Western designs do require preparation before going waterborne.

They removed the ability to float bc people were complaining abaout it killing them while in the water. So the ability was removed, but Soviet BMPs and a couple other vechicles were allowed to keep their flotation devices. So they fixed one problem by making more.
Apparently, this vehicle needs add-on equipment to float, normally. While the bmp has its amphibious features built in. So realistically, it can't swim with it out those features.

Was on 8,7 br the other day in the map where in the middle there's a river, then i was pushing until i see a friendly T-55 trying to shoot at the water and constantly using the MG until i peek from the other side seing that thing floating hidding from the T-55 it was so...unreal. It’s crazy because the M163 used to be able to float, like it was fully capable of floating. But after one of the updates, it doesn’t work… I would sometimes sit in water on certain maps as some planes don’t expect AA fire from water in a ground match
Actually, this is realistic. The M117 chassis was never able to float. It could however cross swamps and rivers that weren't too deep and that flap that extends forwards was to stop water from blocking the driver's view port.

It is! However, the designers knew and compensated for this. That is what the boxes on the side of the tank are for. They are just tank floaties to compensate for the added weight.

The CM25 seems to even include the side floats and larger foam filled trim vane (the sides are also filled with foam). The CM25 floats are not the same modification as the M163 so it might be a native Taiwanese mod. The M113A1 tow just has a trim vane, so it can likely float, might need prep first, but wont be as stable (irl) as the m113s with the side floats. The TOW weapon system with extra ammo probably isnt much heavier, if heavier at all, than an m113 with fully loaded dismounts when you think about it.
Funny enough, the M2 Bradley’s also got a trim vane for the exact purpose. Though very dangerous, turning an IFV into a boat literally could be a thing, it just takes a very skilled crew.
It use to, but Gaijin removed stating "It would take too long for the crew to deploy" yet fail to update the in-game models removing the vanes. All M113 Hulls were amphibious by nature, no floaties needed.

Gaijin's excuse is that the m113 needs preparations before crossing water, but i find that a terrible excuse, all amphibious vehicles do, and even if you say the m113 takes longer to do we can already replace an entire drive system during a battle in less than a minute, so realistic work hours aren't a concern.

So something I have noticed. Gaijin has been removing amphibious capabilities from most vehicles, exept from Russian vehicles. You can go look at old videos of the ikv or the M163 and they were able to go across water, now they can’t. First time Russian bias takes stuff away from other vehicles.

Odd that they care about “accuracy” when the bmp also realistically cant float without being prepped first yet they dont let an M113 platform float in a state that should allow it to float

The reason for this is that the m113 had this capability, but the 163 is too heavy and the army didn't see any point in just taking it off (if im right)
I mean isn't that just so the driver doesn't get splashed? So it could be used in cases where the river is shallow enough to cross and you don't necessarily have to float.
It just looks cool, would be nice if it had some armor value aswell.
So something I have noticed. Gaijin has been removing amphibious capabilities from most vehicles, exept from Russian vehicles. You can go look at old videos of the ikv or the M163 and they were able to go across water, now they can’t. First time Russian bias takes stuff away from other vehicles.
Thw one squadron m113 for the US tech tree has this same issue
Remember, 2S38 can float. Also in the same BR as M3A3 and Puma for some reason.

Best part is when they added the trim they removed its ability to float….

jokes aside, i forgor which update, in one of the changelog they said they remove the amphibious capability ftom m163

There are versions of m113 heir to the Bradley that do float.
The M113 chassis only amphibious with flotation and engine modifications. You couldn't just drive one into the water.
They had to rig the vehicles for that.. thats like taking the dd sherman tank wothout the rigging to float and complain ir didnt float
