You see the difference it makes when you have hope vs. No hope. There are millions of kids in the ghetto that lost that hope. So they been knew since the 50's that if there's no hope they would take their own lives. So now you see why the ghettos are the way they are. For anyone wondering, this is known as the "forced swim test" and is used to assess depression in mice. I've done it before, although you take them out after a few minutes and they do stay alive.
Edit: since many are misinterpreting, again, in the forced swim test you take the mice out after only 6 minutes, and they do survive.
do not do this. it stresses out mice and can cause pneumonia.
