And overall, it was MAGICAL! I've been with this cartoon since Season 1 and I've seen it grow from mediocre to amazing! And this season is the apex of that! Well, strap in and prepare yourself folks my long awaited The Owl House Season 2 review!

So in "Any Sport in a Storm", when Hunter goes undercover at Hexside and is asked by Gus what his name is, Flapjack (his palisman) whispers something and then, Hunter says his name is Caleb. The theory is that Flapjack was the palisman of Philip's brother, as we see that there is a bird on one of the brothers's shoulders in "Yesterday's Lie". This season did such a phenomenal job exploring the depths of all the characters. Luz is just as adorkable as ever with more maturity to her, Amity’s history with her family was written well, Lumity had me the most giddy of any relationship in a long time, Willow and Gus got some much needed spotlight, Eda is now best mom, other side characters like Rain, Lilith, Steve etc are given some much needed spotlight, Hooty’s as funny as always, and this season really reinforced why King and Hunter are my 2 favorite characters on the show. Their backstories were the first times The Owl House officially brought tears to my eyes. I haven’t felt that sorry for characters since Aang realized he was the last airbender. 10/10! Honestly, Knock Knock Knocking On Hootys Door is not only my favorite episode of Season 2, but also my favorite episode in the entire series. This episodes represents EVERYTHING i love about The Owl House. From the comedy, to the adorable relationship, to the mystery to such a tragedy. This episode has EVERYTHING. King having one step forward to find his identity was so well done because it's not a immediate conclusion, but at least it has something that will satisfy him. Eda's dream is one of if not my favorite dream sequence in cartoon history (it's either that or the entirety of In Dreams from SUF). It's trippy, yet so clear and answered so many questions that will have conclusion later on. And the scene where Eda finally accepts The Owl Beast as a part of her is absolutely beautiful (just like her Harpie Form). And there's Luz's which is probably my favorite Lumity moment. I love how they're so awkward around each others even when they confess their feelings and became girlfriends. The tunnel of love is such a brilliantly funny plan from Hooty and the whole Edas line "Then do it" i just love how straight forward it is. No unnecessary adds, just go ahead, be yourself and do it. I wasn't the biggest fan of Hooty in season 1, but season 2 really made him a better charecter and this episode is by far the biggest growth to both Hooty and everyone else.
Also i'm kinda surprised you didn't mention the ending where Hooty eating pretty much a death mail, but at the same time there's not a lot to talk akbout it so why am i mentioning it lol

I honestly like both! S1 set up the characters, got us attached, S2 then brought down the pain and plot..it would of been less dramatic of a switch if they had more episodes they were allowed to make (and they would of incorporated more plot points, but couldn't so it may feel a tad rushed at times with many plots going on at once just to get things in). It kinda gave me everything I love in a show; the cute silly moments along with serious plot, world building, character development, and it bringing out emotions.

15:03 I actually really like the lumity plot in "Any sport in the storm". Sure, it's not as interesting as the A plot but:
    1-It's a Lumity plot (That's always a plus)
2- I was glad to have actuall confirmation the Azura books are just... books. It was pretty obvious the show wouldn't go the "The books are telling a real story" direction yet some people still thought it would.
3- The message about theories! Despite discovering that their theories were wrong and being a little disapointed by the truth, Luz is able to learn a lesson and Amity realize how fun it is to make theories. Also, they decide to turn the Azura book club into a writting plot inspiring the audience to come out with their story.

As someone without a father in my life and someone who buries his problems in favor of taking care of everyone else around me, that episode hurt like a knife. I genuinely sat in front of my computer after the episode finished at 1 in the morning, silent, letting it sink in for about 20 minutes. They handled literally every part of that episode perfectly, between Luz's need for a distraction to keep her sane, Amity's dad trying to fix things but it being clear it'll take time(the handshake instead of the hug made me so happy), the scene at the end with the flowers, and most importantly Luz's walls crumbling to Amity while she tries to pretend it's nothing with tears in her eyes. I have a theory on when/where Philp and Caleb are from: Luz is stated to be Connecticut and in the main town square we can see statues looking like Philp and Caleb. Fun fact about Connecticut, in 1647 to 1663 the "Connecticut witch trials" where in progress. As an aside what was also happening in 1647 (in main land England), the self proclaimed, "Witch-hunter General" Matthew Hopkins JUST passed away.
It would not be far off to believe that Philp, seeing his community having a rise of witch trials, probably heard that the legendary, "the witch-hunter General" had relentlessly passed over seas, and wanted to be that for said community (or rather have that power over his community from that title alone) and brought his brother in arms with him to this goal.

35:15 What made this specific portrait ironic though is that Belos/Phillip sees Caleb as his betrayer, especially to the other grimwalkers, and even though that is partially true, what Phillip did is actually betraying his brother. Imagine you are in a magical world where the things you’re taught to believe are bad turned out to be decently good and you’re open to the change, even so accepting to anything. But then a beloved family member, whom you loved dearly, killed you because they see YOU as a traitor, and to you, you see a monster in the guise of your family member who you trusted your entire life to.
It’s like when someone in a christian family came out to their closest member but was kicked out because that member refused to accept this, hardcore believing the twisted thought of lgbtq+ as a negatory group
And when you’re dead, your family member used your blood to create copies of you, obedient up until they left you the moment they sense betrayal. Even to the point of abusing your copies.
Betrayal is a complex concept - To Phillip, Caleb betrayed him by falling for a witch and just accepting the magic world. But to Caleb, Phillip betrayed him with a dagger, refusing to see him as a brother but rather as a traitor. He left him for dead and used his corpse to create more copies, to obey up until they had to be destroyed and perished.

Hollow Mind is my favorite episode. I really like the music and the horror elements! The imagery and the implications of the dialogue and pictures in the bg adds to the mystery and the horror, not to mention, we see how evil Belos really is and it's horrifying. Hunter and Luz's development get a spotlight and its so satisfying. So many questions were finally answered and it still gave us more stuff to theorize about

The first season is very praiseworthy on its own by season 2 signal handedly shot The Owl House into my top 10 favorite shows of all time and next season 3 of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend Of Korra, season 2 of Gravity Falls, and season 4 of Dragons Race To The Edge, season 2 of The Owl House is one of my favorite seasons of any show ever.

Something I'd like to point out in Them's the Breaks Kid.
The past principal pulls out Eda's record and it is massive. Makes sense, but in season one, Bump pulls out a stack that's barely half the size. Even Eda points out that she was expecting a lot more.
    I got two possible explanations:
    1. After she's kept in school, Eda started a new record and did all that new stack in her final semesters.
    2. After the events, Bump sorted through the record to remove what was either forgivable or resolved, and what is shown later is all that remains.

I don't always click on a video the minute it uploads, but when I do it's something special.
That's Owl House for you especially since it took things that didn't work in season 1 and made an entire second season of winners even the two episodes I didn't like this season have plenty of merit but because I'm a curious soul who wants to know what others think I'll just ask.
What is everyones opinions on "Keeping Up A-Fear-Ances" and "Through the Looking Glass Ruins?"
Finn pretty much nailed the issue with "Keeping Up A-Fear-Ances," so I don't have too much to say (unless I'm asked)
As for "Through the Looking Glass Ruins" I still have to question where the sudden stigma against illusions comes from (especially when the Oracle Track comes off as more of a joke throughout the series)? Edric and Emira were in the illusions track and they were never shown any shade of discrimination for it. Plus, maybe it's just the fact that I grew up watching alot of anime buuuut.... when you have powers that can affect the mind (and most likely the senses as well) that can make two friends fight each other or have your enemy walk off cliffs or in this show's own case (albeit a later episode) force someone to relive all of their worst memories (as we see Gus do to the head of the Illusionists Coven among others) I have to ask why on Titan would ANY witch want to mess with them?
And then theirs the kids from Glandus, who start of pretty decent but the minute they make it to the graveyard they become selfish power-mad jerks that are more than willing to abandon each other when the opportunity strikes, despite their opening scene where they're in perfect sync fighting a Slitherbeast (a monster that even Eda the "most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles" was scared of) without breaking a sweat. People don't just work in perfect sync like that without days if not years of practice and that demands that they know each other (skills and all), yet the minute her teammates walk off into the fog she just shrugs, grabs a bagful of the galdorstones and says "I never liked them anyway."
I do like that the episode gave Gus a chance to shine (we all know he needed it) and even Mattholomule got some development for a minor side-character but I still have to ask why Gus suddenly decided graverobbing was bad. I mean they were going to the ruins for magic-enhancing artifacts so what does it matter that now he's taking from the dead? Especially when he's a fellow illusionist so the dead in-question might like to have a fellow illusionsit take one (though that might just be because we spend so much time with troublemakers like Luz and Eda that I've forgotten where exactly they all fall on a morel compass).
I feel like this episode needed more time with Gus and as much as I love the Lumity B-plot it took some time away from the main plot making it feel a bit rushed

    • @RandomDragonEXE
      @RandomDragonEXE Před 2 lety

I just kinda figured he wanted to respect the dead or something. Regardless of whether or not they were illusionists, they're dead and need the place to be undisturbed so they can be at eternal peace. Same goes for taking the magic artifacts, they were stealing them which means without permission from them which is disrespectful.
      But that's just my opinion

I think the collector wanted to play with king, because he saw them as peers of some sort, but some stuff went down, and maybe kings dad saw it as malicious intent, ( possible due to a feud between the collectors parent/parents and him) so he trapped the collector and hid king

Having some true development on Gus’s character especially, Willow & Amity patching up their friendship, Hunter dealing with the effects of finding out Belos’s secrets, and the development of side characters are only some of the reason as to why this episode’s so great.

Late I know, but I want to say i personally think knock knocking on Hooty's door is a master peace not for all the same reasons but the fact it was able to show 3 story's of three different character struggles in a real loveable way is genius. Not only was it confronting so called trauma and working with it to become a stronger individual with Eda's part, but It also calls me back to my high school years where I met my girlfriend but eventually fell out and watching them was almost like watching my own memory's and made me connect with this show even more, but I more so relate to king as I personally never knew my dad and had multiple issues over it. it just shows that shows like these can be targeted to anyone and I really thing it amazing because all I had to watch when growing up was Madeline which was a girl in Cristian school of some sort which only installed fear to come out to people, i am so happy that kids now can find some connection to the characters already instead of trying to change yourself to fit into the character. ///I'm sorry for the rant///

I know I'm late to the party but, in my humble opinion, I think your channel is better than any other cartoon reviewing channel out there!
Your channel is just so positive and happy! You act like you're always having fun with the topics you're talking about! You make jokes and you fanboy unashamedly and your criticisms are fair but don't come off as too judgy or cynical like a lot of other channels!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, your channel is my favorite out of all cartoon channels because they always make me happy even when I don't know anything about the topic! I hope you keep doing this and that you stay positive and awesome forever!
