      Well Rogue absorbed Ms Marvel's powers, who has cosmic powers and can breath in a vacuum, and Sunspot is basically nuclear with the power of a sun, I'm not an expert on him but I would think he'd be able to survive.
      As for Jubilee, that shit didn't make sense to me...😅

      Alright so the breathing in space thing can be explained, but the re-entry as far as I can tell is just a failure of the show to communicate that Asteroid M was already entering Earth’s atmosphere. Gives me the impression this episode has been through a few rewrites, but didn’t ruin my enjoyment of it. As for breathing in space they were close enough to the “blue area of the moon”, which has an atmosphere and oxygen due to the Skrulls running a competition with the Kree and another alien race, that I guess Sunspot and Rogue were okay fighting Bastion down there.

      I was gone by Episode 2, when Mags threatened his own judges and then after a pretty speech (Which none likely heard as they were panicking, hoping he wouldn't kill them), gets off. I stuck with it, I thought maybe it was a one off. And for the most part the show was decent. Then Episode 8 happened. So after giant robots attack a peaceful country, the victims are now the bad guys? And people are willing to believe terminators that used to be friends and family, who attack, violent other friends and family who may or may not have powers, when the robots says they're there to help?
      And how many hundreds of MILLIONS of people died when Mags EMP'ed the planet back into the literal stone age? How many planes crashed into cities? How many pacemakers and other life support systems stop responding, and so did the people? How many nuclear disaster did we have when the power plants and their safety systems shut down? Not to mention that an EMP is not a switch you can turn back on. It leaves melted plastics, gold, copper circuits, wiring and broken connectors.
      After that, nothing actually mattered. Still watched it all, to see if they addressed any of it. They, of course, didn't. "Magneto was right."

    I’m genuinely surprised that Nightcrawler prayed the rosary in this show. Both that they stuck to that core aspect of his character and that we didn’t hear anything about ‘a voice actor refusing to say religious speak’ or anything like that. With how seemingly every actor is, religion is bad.

      Depends if the numbers are small in total. To use easy numbers say one year the total views of programs were 1000 and the top 5 each garnered over 100 views. Then the next the numbers were 100 so the top show at best equals the 5th show of last year much less what the third highest rated show gets.
      In sort 97 might be doing well in its year but if it isn't bringing back much of the lost viewership and isn't going to help much. At best it doesn't hurt Disney+.

    Marvel has tried to use some serious member-berry in the past, and I'm sad to say they used it here. They brought back characters from the other 90's shows and other Marvel characters from other shows, but they were brought back in cameos, not actual stories. Marvel hyped up these characters like they were going to have a substantial role in the show, even if for just one episode, but instead relegated these beloved characters to tiny cameos or had them play a very small part in the episode without any rhyme or reason for these characters showing up.

    Yeah, the pace really killed the show overall. It got better with the middle starting with Remember It, but it still felt like they were going quick with some of the progress/story. Honestly, having this season stretched out into two seasons with the same number of episodes so that Remember It ended season 1 and this being the end of season 2 would have been better.

    I have to be honest, I found myself really liking X-Men '97, but I do agree that there are some problems with some of the more recent episodes, and while I knew Apocalypse was going to show up eventually (it's hinted at very early in the season tbh), I wasn't expecting three heavy storylines all at once. I'm not really sure how I feel about that. The X-Men encountering En Sabah Nur is going to give us the origin story which in the comics was from the Rise of Apocalypse miniseries in the 1990's. With Scott and Jean going into the future, not only do we see young Cable, but Mother Askani (who in the comics is Scott and Jean's daughter, Rachel Summers). This is from another 1990's miniseries, The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix, and yes the comics introduce us to Stryfe as a kid and it ties in heavily with Apocalypse. And lastly, the whole Gambit becoming the Horseman of Death is from the mid-2000s comics.... oddly enough he was the third Death. The Second was Wolverine and this is how his adamantium skeleton is restored, at least in the comics. So, I'm not sure what to make of this. You can not like the direction of the series but as the original series was largely adapting Chris Claremont's Run from the 1970s and 1980s, X-Men'97 is borrowing heavily from storylines beyond that. Heck, the original series did have post-Claremont first run stuff like the Phalanx Covenant, and the origins of Mr. Sinister (albeit different then what the Further Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix covered in the comics as Apocalypse isn't present in the animated version).
    Lastly, what the heck are people talking about when they reference The Age of Apocalypse? That's an alternate timeline that arose when Legion accidentally kills Professor Xavier with the intention of offing Magneto. The closest thing to the animated series was depicted in S4's "One Man's Worth".

    • @rickyg.4004
      @rickyg.4004 Před 11 hodinami +1

      Great points and spot on about the stories referenced from the comics. I heard people talking about AoA but nothing pointed to that yet. There was a shot from "One Man's Worth" in the opening, maybe a flashback shot in an episode, and Sinister had a line about wanting pens full of mutants to experiment on that I caught referring to AoA. That's it.
      We'll likely see the two stories you mentioned explored by the time displaced X-Men and an adaptation of Apocalypse: The Twelve in the current timeline. Maybe they setup Stryfe and explore the Legacy Virus or X-cutioners Song. We'll also likely see Onslaught in the future due to the Professor X and Magneto psychic stuff that took place. Maybe they use Onslaught across other animated series, if Disney makes them, or at the least it will include wider parts of the Marvel Universe.
      I wish they would have waited to adapt Fatal Attractions by using the other X teams to flesh out the story. This season was very Cyclops heavy. Given his popularity, I'm surprised how little Wolverine was used and that he didn't get a solo episode featuring some of his villains. It's like they purposely chose not to focus on him at all. I understand the other characters weren't featured as much in the original show, but he's a fan favorite. I'm excited to see where the show goes from here.

    Yeah the Phoenix part and the cameos were the weakest bits. Like why did they show silver samurai twice where he has the exact same reaction?
    I'm guessing they want to use them for season 2 or something but here they're just kind of there just to remind you they exist. I wouldn't say that is enough to ruin anything just minor issues.

    as for the fighting? it's meh? like it just feels they're extending he fights cuz anime. so the fights are longer and more brutal and not dependent on one two punches. not cuz rogue can do a flip kick in the vs game but cuz things like naruto and bleach are setting the fighting bar higher and simply having rogue do one superman punch doesn't cut it anymore. there needs to be more substance to a fight and that's what they're giving is my interpretation.

Shouldn't they be helping in some way" they showed in small bits of them doing their thing but I never felt it took away from the X-men. The fights were also fun to watch in this episode and they made jubilee feel deadly. I enjoyed this season overall with the only weak parts being those half storm episodes. Them looking much more like “X-Men ‘79” instead of “X-Men ‘97” for these final two episodes really killed off a lot of my enthusiasm, and it’s a damn shame because the action has been incredible (especially in 10)! If they would have only had their good uniforms and the “Fatal Attraction” arc not been shoehorned in to make them look even more incompetent, then I would have been on Cloud 9 with this show (I pretty much was already until they screwed up the uniforms and started stuffing big events in where they didn’t need them).
    That being said, I was glad that this final episode wasn’t near as grim and hopeless as what I was originally fearing it would be. The action was top notch and I did find myself more engaged this time because I had already faced the crushing disappointment with the different uniforms in the previous episode. I still feel like too much was happening all at once and they didn’t allow natural time for much of anything. But I am still really hoping they return to their iconic 90s suits next season and they don’t aggressively try to shove extra stuff in where it is not needed. Regardless, the undisputed highlights of Season 1 were definitely Episode 5 “Remember It” and Episode 7 “Bright Eyes”. They got me the most pumped for this show and I only wish the finale could have hit just as hard. They don’t appear to be going in the direction I was certain they would go though (Onslaught) so that was a big surprise. I am still excited to see the next Season but those 90s uniforms will have to return (especially Rogue’s…I HATE the God awful boring green and white crap whenever Marvel curses her with those trash bag uniforms) to make me get really excited again. And I want to see all new stories of the 90s team (and looks) fighting villains like Sabretooth, Omega Red, Juggernaut, etc. again.

      @wanderingthedesert5599 Před 16 dny

      All new stories of the 90s team is kind of not what even the original series was about, rather, they were adaptations of existing stories from the comics that came before. I think that there were a few original stories by the time you hit Season 4 and 5, but for the most part, they're referencing the comics. They do change things up a bit, so it's not exactly a perfect mimic, but that's always been where the 90s series aimed.

      @@dansalinas Yea, I found it totally unnecessary. The Mansion has been destroyed before and they never had a problem replacing their damaged uniforms before. When this show was first announced, I was thinking straight cash grab and they knocked it out the park overall, the animation I’m OK with I think an upgrade to the old I do think they rip through a lot of content, but I enjoyed where they went with it and I hope, they can do better. Have to disagree 100% here. The finale absolutely stuck the landing for me.
    it wasn't a 10, more like an 8 for me, but everything landed where it needed to be.
    I respect where you're coming from though.
    I can understand why you might not like it as the immediate future seems very Apocalypse heavy (you yourself admitting you never liked the AoA;) and I get you're not a fan of the character, but they're going to be exploring some really interesting stories.
    I wasn't a fan of episode 9 due to some strange characterisations of some characters last week, but this was a great finale. The one thing that stands out most about it is a lot of the plot points they seem to drawing from moving forward will be from heavy comic book story arc deep dives than only the hardcore comic book collector will be familiar with. "The Adventures of Cyclops & Phoenix"? Nice. great story, never thought I'd see a mainstream product adapt such a core-demographic arc.
    You're mistaken on the Bone Claws thing though; that's easily rectified.
    At this point in time (in the show AND in the comics) Wolverine still doesn't have all his memories back & many of the things he thinks he remembers are actually planted memories by years of mental trauma and the Weapon + program that messed with him. Those scenes you saw where Dr.Cornelious is installing the adamantium claws into his hands are fake. They're plants. Just like Every other Silver Fox memory he has except the one in the cabin by the lake. It isn't until many years later where he gets most of his memories in order (amongst them remembering his actual real name)
    But What I think the greatest thing about this revival as a whole though is the production team seem to really know x-men lore and the more niche story arcs that I'm looking forward to the next season because of this.
    Also they're starting to cover storylines that, if you don't collect comics, will have no clue about. --which is fantastic, because there's a lot of people/commenters on CZcams channels that like to pretend they're long time x-men comic fans just so they can complain about the show with some veiled legitimacy; not knowing they're actually criticising plot points & characterisations from comic books they claim to be fans of, lol -because y'know, the've actually never read them. They just want to hate on this show because Disney owns Marvel. It's absolutely childish and absolutely hilarious, lol. 🤣🤣
    This show separates the actual comic-book community from the fake "long time x-men fan" normie posers, that think they'r experts because they remember watching a few episodes from a cartoon 30 years ago, and think their last-minute google research is compensation for having no experience in following & collecting x-men comics.
    I've enjoyed your reviews of all the episodes, and you make your points very clear & relatable. Looking forward to your full season summary 😎✌

Felt like the writers kept backing themselves into a corner and weren't creative enough to get themselves out of it without being incredibly lazy ie: the phoenix scene you mentioned. I also have a bad feeling we'll never see the overarching vision/story concluded. Season 2 will also most likely leave off on a cliffhanger setting up a third season that we'll never get since no one is watching this.
