    Hair goals! I swear by finger detangling. It’s helped me retain so much length, increased my patience, lessened pain and made my 4c coils clump more. Waist length hair here I come!

      @Jasmine Jones I see your point but I feel iffy about the first one. I know you didn’t say this but people tend to listen to people with longer hair and look at people with shorter hair as if they have a hair issue or it needs to grow more. You should be able to take advice from anyone whether they have long or short hair (it’s a bit funny because black hair has shrinkage so hair can appear shorter too). I’m saying this especially with girls who have short 4b-4c hair and are extremely uncomfortable with their short length.

      @@christinamensah1747 give your hair a good finger detangling section by section (small sections if nec) and the comb thru with a wide tooth comb for surity that you've removed the tangles! You Are ALL SET to begin your finger detangling hair care regimen Sis. From here on Out it is moisturizing, sealing and braiding/twisting (fingers ONLY) til you are ready to repeat the process again! TAKE NOTE, it does NOT have to be be done every day. A good moisture and seal can last a week or two (especially if hair is not exposed to harsh temperatures...i.e. cold). WASH day will be both a treat and a SURPRISE for You!!!

    So I tried your remoisturizing technique today because I too have high porosity hair and you got me thinking that since our cuticles are already open and our strands are fragile then adding to much water will make our strands even weaker. So I took down my twist, remoisturized with my Camille Rose almond Jai and grease (yes I use grease too. I'm a 70's baby) and I must say, the moisture is definitely there. Now I gotta wrap my mind around not washing my hair ever week. I need to invest in some scarves. BTW young lady- you're teaching us old chicks some new things. Much appreciated😉

      I like to finger detangle tbh, but I have to use smaller sections because my hair is SUPER dense. So I'll end up detangling with one of those brushes that came out recently. It works great as long as I wet it. When my hair grows back to this length, I'll be well in to finger detangling again.

      for growin you hair try scalp massages and rice water, (treat it as a protein treatment (rice water has a lot of protein) Just wash rice in a container, pour water after, seal the container shut, let it ferment for 1 to 2 days then store for up to four weeks. Use it depending on your porosity if you have high porosity you can afford to use it more often if you have low porosity use it less often.
      for thickening your hair try onion juice, green beauty's channel has a few videos on this so check her out.
      I know it sounds crazy putting onion and rice waters in your hair but when it boils down to it natural hair products come from the same place. Only they may extract it a bit rougher and add chemicals and perservetives to it. :)

The channel Green Beauty has a more accurate/ complex break down of the hair types where you can be 4c buy have a different shape to the curl (I,L,s,o). I just thought that maybe the reason people accuse you of not being 4c its bc they're and o pattern and you're an s so your hair stretches more easily (I'm mainly and o pattern btw). Your hair is so moisturized and luscious looking. How do you prevent it from drying out through the day?

      I wear scarves 95% of the time (no matter where I am going). I don’t really leave my hair out often. After I moisturize then I wrap it up in a scarf.

    • @QuEeN-uy6lg
      @QuEeN-uy6lg Před 4 lety +9

      wait you hair should not be drying up in a day or a couple of hours. Make sure you use a claryfying shampoo next wash day ( it might be product build up) Make sure after moisturizing with your leave in or moisturizing product you seal it in with an oil. ( please dont do that the other way around (ಥ_ʖಥ)) Also oil is not moisturizing it seals in moisture. Now go forth and gorw out your hair (`ー´)

      QuEeN oh I live by the lco method and it’s not a day or two. It’s usually week two that my hair needs help. My hair usually loves in twists of varying sizes and I do need to invest in a satin lined bonnet to wear around my house. It’s the hair touching other items that drys it out event when it’s up

      Maybe start parting it in different sections, for ex. Parting your hair constantly in the middle can cause your hair to break off in the middle overtime.

    I have very fine hair so it usually doesn't hold braids well i have a few jellys to pair with a moistizer also a very thick butter I may use in between sometimes and I am going to give the briads a go again instead of twist because someitmes my hair experiences nore tangles with just twisting all of the time. See if I can stretch the style at 2 weeks instead of washing every week starting now lol I am so tired of washing my hair every 7 days. It works for me because i have plenty of build up but I am also going to start incorporating hair grease back into my scalp as well on week two of moisturizing see how that works. You have inspired me👌😋

    Hey! What is your tips on how to leave your hair alone? like to distract and not neglect but neglect for it to grow on its own

    • @NaturalAcademia
      @NaturalAcademia  Před 4 lety +10

      I wear scarfs where ever I am going. I have a bunch of different colors, they are pretty easy for me to pair with outfits. Scarfs has really helped my hair to retain both moisture and length in these past six years. I’m able to sort of “neglect” my hair because I don’t have to keep up with styling it. I only moisturize, wash my hair and wrap it up in a scarf.
      If you are not comfortable with wearing a scarf, the equivalence of this would be a wig.

  • @nicelagirl

    Do you finger detangle every week when you moisturize your hair, or skip a week or two? I like your method of not raking your fingers through. I think I'm going to try that and see how that works for me because I maybe losing more hair that I need to with raking my fingers through my hair. Doesn't look like you get any knots either.

    I tried that not washing for a month thing and my hair kept breaking. I went back to washing my hair every day or 2nd day and my hair grew fast; it wasn't strong as it was when I was a child. my nan used coconut oil (cooked not uncooked) when I was a child. Now I'm almost 40, I find grapeseed oil or avocado oil work best for my hair. leave in conditioner makes my scalp itch like crazy. Aloe Vera gel for my scalp and oil for my hair.

    You CLEARLY need no help, but something I do (because I'm a self-proclaimed MAXIminimalist, lol), is braid down 3/4 of the way, and then twist the last couple of inches of ends. I've coined them "plaittwists" and it has SEVERAL benefits for the ends, beyond practicality.
    All that aside, Ma'am, the dryness is NOT coming through on camera! EVEN YOUR (allegedly😝) DRY strands straightup ✨GLISTEN✨!
