products only help maintain what we are doing, we have to do the work as well, its like going to a doctor ,the doctor can only do so much, if he says you need to exercise then you have to, medicine only do so much , same thing with hair products, they only help maintain and stop shredding and make it easier to manage, we still gotta do the work and be patient! well spoken 154angel154 !!

Some people are waaaay too pessimistic 😪 they haven't taken the time out to learn their hair and dont give it enough time to grow and dont try using methods to retain it . And keep telling people about "genetics" this can be really discouraging for others who are looking for ways to retain length . They really need to stop leaving their comments

    • @tearysu835

My hair still looks the same as it did when I was in elementary school/starting middle school. I've tried everything and my hair is healthy. I like to trim regularly and do protein mask and stuff but nope my hair looks the same 😤 I'm pressed because my step-sister out here with straight waist length hair and here I am sitting here with my ugly fro lol bye

Disclaimer: I am a licensed Cosmetologist 30+ years. Ladies, when you document your daughters hair length, use a tape measure, document the date, her height, and age. Keep a log book, so that you have written documentation along with photos in the event that you need it for legal issues. There is No need to trim hair unless there is damage. If you happen to go to a salon, first make sure that you confirm that they have a posted current Cosmetologist License for your state. During your salon visit, do not allow the stylist to turn you away from the mirror while trimming your hair. (Best to have a friend go with you.) Some stylist want to “up sale” salon service prices or practice a hair style on you by insisting that you need your ends trimmed. Usually the trim turns into a hair cut from telling you 1/2” then they actually cut 2”-3” off, which is significant length. Hair grows an AVERAGE of 1/2” a month, 6” a year. (One half inch per month, six inches per year.) So if the hair stylist cuts 3” of hair off, it will take you 6 months to grow it back. This is why we don’t think our hair is growing, because we keep cutting off the growth progress. And please don’t get a relaxer or color bleaching, because your hair may break off in no time. I know American society is not adapting to the notion that Black Women and Black Girls could have, or grow long hair, but we do and can by just taking better care of our “Crown” and grow it as long as we like. For some reason, we always feel the need to prove to strangers that “this is my real hair” by consenting to strangers touching or pulling ours or our daughters hair. I ask that you NOT CONSENT. Do not let strangers touch your hair, or your daughters hair, because you don’t know what type of “Spirits/Bad Energy” or germs they carry (including Covid-19), or other viruses on their hands or under nails. We Don’t Need to Prove ANYTHING to ANYONE!

Westernization is THE PITS when it comes to our natural hair. Bantu knots, threading, plats with no extensions; our ancestors thriiiiiived on those hairstyels. Even members of royal African families did hairstyles like that lol but european beauty standards make us think/believe those are "struggle hairstyles". Personally if it serves my hair and helps it grow, I will go to work, church, mall, airport and literally everywhere else in it. Not compromising my hair health so people feel comfortable about themselves. That's their problem, they can fix those insecurities by they damn selves.

Your hair growth is really shows that we need to just leave our hair alone. Meaning stop messing with your hair every day, pick a style and leave it in for days/weeks at a time. Also find your products and stick with them!! You don't need to buy a new product every time something new comes out! You ever noticed how natural hair influencers on youtube, their hair starts declining after a while or their hair growth plateaus? Reviewing products and tutorials on different hairstyles can have a negative effect on your hair

Francine, exactly! Leave the hair alone. Women constantly doing different hairstyles that only pulls the hair out....My hair grew since the pandemic because I left the 4 plats in place for days at a time and I have a perm. I made sure it was moisturized for each new plating.

It’s true learning your hair is super important. I went through a phase where I wouldn’t wash my hair for months and my scalp was always itchy and sore but I was just getting my career started and didn’t really care.
I learned that I CANNOT go longer than two weeks without washing and preferably once a week. I feel like I have a naturally oilier scalp and so it gets itchy so fast. I found that ad long as I moisturize my ends and clean my scalp weekly, my hair is happy. It’s funny how different hair routines are. Like if I followed your routine, I would have sores on my scalp, but if you followed mine, your hair would probably be more dry and less healthy. It’s all about learning what your hair needs! 😁

Everyone should try this deep conditioner; massage olive oil on your scalp and saturate conditioner on the ends of your hair. Separate the hair and finger de-tangle (only use your hands). You should be able to run your hands through your hair w/out disrupting the curls. Put into Bantu knots; wrap it up with a plastic bag and leave it over night, or, for 2 hours. It will make them curls pop 😍 All you gotta do is keep the moisture in after rinsing it out.

Thank you for your upload, I appreciate your pictures. I also am "pleased" that you are a natural who's hair was not long as a child as you really come from where most of us started. Therefore you know the struggle firsthand rather than someone who always had long hair as a child (no disrespect to those persons in that category). Again, thank you for the content.

I definitely agree that no one knows how to handle or do your hair but YOU! Becoming self-efficient and learning how to do my own hair has helped my grow thick so so much. I noticed that when I stopped getting sew ins and going to hairstylists, my hair has been flourishing on its own because I don’t do much to it.

You’re like me when I first became a natural I also “deep conditioned” my hair with regular conditioner over night, with a tinfoil cap, in twists😂 it’s soo dangerous but I felt like it moistures my hair and made it grow. I would put water on my hair a lot to the point I noticed my scalp was suffering from a moist scalp and not allow it to dry before hairstyling. Man we thank God for growth!! Now I’m growing my hair out with just wearing twists☺️ btw you are beautiful ! Thanks for the video! Subscribed.

All hair grows you just need to get to know your hair, what works the best for u, have a consistent routine with it, and eat the best you can. I did it and my hair is growing like never before. Trust the process!

I never had a perm but I learned my hair. Drinking water, consuming fruits and veggies are extremely important to hair growth. What you place in your body is vital as well. I keep my regime simple water, oil, leave in conditioner, and grease or moisturizer. I shampoo every two weeks and condition every week. My hair is mid-back length currently but recently I damaged my ends with heat so I am now treating them. Love the vid and I’m a new subbie.

I have been in my healthy hair journey since 2017 (three years )... the first two years I haven’t notice massive growth because I think my hair and I were learning about what work best for us, routines, the better product , moisturizing, shedding, solving hair issues ... etc
Then in 2020 ( third year) , finally my hair looks long, healthy, fuller thicker and I know how to manage it well myself .. I feel like my own hair expert.
Be patient , your hair will grow it just needs time and learning ..
