The crazy thing is that the Russians actually had a good BB design planned just before WWII, theoretically capable of matching the Yamato or the Iowa; the Sovetsky Soyuz class. Three hulls were laid down
But unlike the Japanese or the Americans (or really everyone else in WWII with a navy), the Russians gave up on them, sparing them from having to build three ships that were already obsolete and pointless (thanks carriers) while also fending off the Heer and Luftwaffe.
Not that they could have built the monstrosities anyways; the USSR didn’t have much naval capability at this point, to the extent the Kriegsmarine surface fleet (itself small and rather weak) would probably be able to curbstomp the Soviet surface fleet.

@@BountyFlamor Assumingly the same reason for Tank Destroyers, except probably that most artillery pieces were far easier to move and needed even less armor as armaments grew longer-ranged. Less armor, even more transit options, and soon you don't even need the undercarrige anymore.

Hey, from Russian sources I can get through, there is a little other story. (I'm native Russian speaking person)
First. The test pilot surname is not Anakin (but it's a good little meme you doing here), but Anohin.
Second. There was 3 test runs in around 4 meters from the ground to test the ability of the tank to control it's wings at the test airfield.
Third. The landing of a tank was successful, but it was an emergency landing. The plane was operating on it's maximum engine capacity and was able to get only about maximum of 40 meter off the ground. They tried to get more power from the engine, but it starts really overheating itself and they didn't really get any more vertical climbing. So the pilot decided to go to the nearest civil airfield (Bikovo near Moscow) and drop the tank around it.
Forth. Tank was able to land at the airfield, but they didn't actually celebrate. The airfield control center wasn't notified about test fly and an alarm was raised. The test tank was captured by the red army and only after crew from initial test airfield drew to the Bikovo airfield the incident was settled down and tank on it's own was driven back to the test airfield. That was first and last real fly test.
Fifth. The whole problem with the plane was due to miscalculating. The tank was tested in air tube without cables and trucks so they miscalculated engine power needed for the plane to carry flying tank. They also didn't take into consideration the air resistance. That's why test fly was doomed from the start.
Sixth. The only plane that actually could carry flying tank was Petlyakov Pe-8 stratigic long range bomber. But since there was about 80 of them built in the whole second war time, such stratigic bomber couldn't be used in test fly in the first place.

I heard the real reason pilots were not given parachutes in WWI was because the primative parachutes back then were so heavy and bulky and the planes so light and engines so weak that a parachute could significantly affect the performance of the airplane.

what about british tetrarch light tank, dunno about the real history about that but it was deployed by glider on first company of heroes
They were deployed by glider during Normandy but many were lost in accidents and those that weren't were too underpowered to effectively take on German tanks at that point of the war. So while they did make a tank that could be dropped it was not powerful enough to face the Panthers and Tigers, the ultimate paradox of an airborne tank.

An airborne force is light infantry, however light infantry with light tank support doesn't take anything from them and allows them to combat hardened targets and provide fire support, yes an airborne tank will still be inferior to a normal tank however it's better to have a bad tank, then to have no tank
