    Hosea Gear is the bomb diggity! Maori people are always representing their culture and i love that! I may be Samoan,German and Chinese..but the passion I see in the Maori people and in the Haka always gets me!! Love it!! Hosea Gear did AWESOME in leading this haka..as well as the rest of the team;) Huge fan of Hosea Gear!!!

    How can anyone put this down? I'm a german/english/irish guy from the United States and I love it everytime I see it. Tradition is a great thing and it's awesome that they allow all the players to do this no matter what their ethnicity is. I am all for keeping up on the traditions of the native people, you can't live in the past but you can appreciate it.

    I love the Haka...I liked it best when the All Blacks came to Thormond Park and the 3 Maori Munster Men did their Haka aswell. Absolute class.

    I grew up in the U.S no exposure to Rugby whatsoever played our football. About a year ago I seen a match on TV with the All Blacks they did the Haka I was pumped before I even knew the game. Now I play rugby and wish I had started years ago Its the best physically competitive sport in the world. I prefer the union version but both are great. America needs to get with the ruck.

    The man with his shirt off is Hosea Gear, his brother is Rico Gear who has lead a haka for the AllBlacks type in 'kapa O Pango all blacks'.
    Im not going to lie alot of young Maori playing sports look alot like Hosea Gear, we are a distinguished people.

    @bordshat no it isnt... there are thousands of different hakas from all over aotearoa (nz).
    if you made the team and by chance didnt know this particular haka, it would be taught to you, usually from another team mate or a well respected kaumatua (elder).
    each haka has a meaning or story within it... this one talks about the beginning of time and life.

    I have observed the mexican culture and you can see the calender with a face in the middle sticking out his tongue it means , showing his soul!At least a shaman told me once, back in the day couples would look at each other sticking out their tongues and watching, letting the soul out and let them enter aswell! And they do though aswell Respect to the Maori!
    the haka gives me energy and strength , this team is a family on field, dying for each other!

    I agree with you. However the Maori in the early conflicts with the British decided to face the Brits in the open field more than once. This proved to be a costly lesson for the Maori...therefore changing tactics was smart.

    I cannot understand how you can say that. The Maori culture is very strong in traditions, and they usually honor their ancestors with the Haka, which is very important to preserve the history. You must inform yourself, before to write such a comments. I imagine you must be very young.

    Wow I was born in.mexico and if you play anything other than soccer you are considered an outsider, but I live in U.S.A and if you play anything other.han baseball, basketball, and football(american) you are also considered an outsider.i dont know much about rugby but it looks awesome I would love to learn the culture behind it an the cultire behind every country that plays it.

    @UHtiger thanks i did check in wikipedia and you are right , the player is to have maori genealogy but some of the players look more british than anything else and the europeens arrived just 200 years ago so thats make 3 generations so surely signs
    of maori on face and body can't disappear that quick.

    I'm an American who really wants to go to NZ to visit your beautiful country, one thing that troubles me though is in almost every internet board on NZ I check and even a lot of comments on youtube have white NZ citizens talking badly about the Maori people. It usually sounds like how old white people here in the US talk about Afircan Americans and it just sounds really racist. I won't pretend to know everything about all of your issues but why so many racist comments?
