2021 Yamaha YFZ 450R SE HMF Exhaust & Fuel Optimizer Install

- How to install an HMF Performance Slip On Exhaust and HMF Fuel Optimizer on my 2021 Yamaha YFZ 450R SE. HMF does recommend a fuel tuner even with their slip on exhaust. Quite an improvement in sound over factory. I'll be excited to see how it runs on the trail.
The full install process if fairly straight forward and can be done in less than an hour.
When I had a 2017 yfz I started with this set up. Well I had the competition muffler anyway. I tried using the optimizer but it never ran right. It would even idle strange no I matter what fuel trim I used. I ended up getting the vortex and ais block off along with a 2013 cable holder. That along with a uni air filter and WOW! It was a whole different animal. I miss having it, considering getting another one soon 🤣
I appreciate the feedback. Honestly I never got mine to run smooth either. I finally sold it but if I would’ve kept it I probably would’ve put everything back to factory.
@@FunGoingFast welcome! I figured that was the case. I was told that the stock ecu was able to tell if it had a controller hooked to it but unsure of how true that was. It made sense only due to how it ran back to back. I’d agree that it ran better stock than with that controller. If I get another one I’m going to try the alba ecu flash. I have the same setup but got it second hand and have a bad backfire at deceleration. Anyway you can tell/show me all the settings on the fuel optimizer so I can reset mine ?

Hmm. Yours is fuel injected so the ECU should be managing the idle. Fuel pump could be on the fritz or something else. You could try a fuel controller but I'd probably take it to the shop and let them troubleshoot as it may be a sign of something else failing. Maybe someone else has had this happen and can speak to it.
By the chance did you battery died? Cuz that happened to me, battery died and when I start it with the jumper box I was sounding terrible..
Have u had any issues at all with this programmer and exhaust?
No reliability issues. I dont have the quad anymore but I never quite got the first part of throttle tip in how I wanted it. There was always a little delay. But mid range and top end were good and it sounded great.
@@FunGoingFast yeah I saw u sold it.. I have been watching your videos for a couple days now and enjoy the content. I just ordered a slip on with this programmer. I was going to get a full exhaust with the vortex ecu but I just wanted sound didn’t care much about anything else or adding any crazy performance so just kept it simple.
Where did you get your carbon fiber front piece?
Its the oem front, no changes. Guess it looks carbon fiber in my poor garage lighting.
What kind of Pro Tapers did you go with, and do you like them? Thank you
Not 100% sure since they were on it when I got it. Sorry. But I did like them. Felt like they were an improvement over stock.

Would a hmf fuel optimizer fit my 2021 yfz450 se because on the website it said it wouldn’t
Weird. The HMF website? Yes definitely. This is what my video was on, installing the fuel optimizer the exhaust same quad. Watch the video and you can see how I installed it and where I located it. It is plug and play.

@@andrewstromski6735 ok good. I just recorded a video on programming Ill be posting but if you have all HMF stuff you shouldn’t have to worry about that. Highly recommended upgrade. Really smooths things out, especially at just off idle. Just be sure you order the right model. They are model specific and the one you were looking at may not have been the right model. You can confirm the part number on the HMF website. Good luck!

How is it running
I hwvent had a chance for a trail ride yet. But I did a quick spin (at the end of the video) and it felt very responsive and sounds way better. Thanks for watching and commenting.
What map settings are you running?
Its the factory set up on the optimizer. I think 4's on all 3 settings.
