Kontaveit really plays well indoors, hope she can win the tournament
I can't imagine Kontaveit losing to Sakkari in the final. She is way to regular & good at controling the game in indoor conditions.

I don't think I've ever seen Jelena find the lines the way she has in this tourney on the hardcourt. Some stunning winners, but just too many unforced errors in this match. Hats off to her making this semi's, and big congrats to Anett on making it to the finals.
Jelena has to improve on her mobility. She looks very slow on court and her movement looks awkward.
Kontaveit is so good! She's been playing out of this world lately! ♥
Kontaveit's serve return is on fire. Even I could slam Ostapenko's second serve for a winner.

I thought Ostapenko was going to steal this tournament like she did the French Open. But she simply met her match. It's satisfying when you see two players at 100% -- no excuses, just a result. Highlights should have shown the inflection point in the fourth game
Why would it be 'stealing' if she won? Sounds like you don't much like her.

Ostapenko is unplayable at times but average serve and extremely high risk hitting at all times results in losses. If she could work on her serve and get some free points or at least get control of points, she would win a lot more.
Good to see Annet continuing her form from late last year. Hope she can make a splash in one of the remaining GS too!!!

It happened in the finals of the Australian open when Simona and Caroline reached the finals.
And I believe it happened on in Cluij-Napoca at November, when Kontaveit and Halep were 1 and 2 seeds.
Happened in the Transylvania Open last year, between Simona & Anett, where they met at the final, being the top 2 seeds at the tournament

From what I have seen and analyzed of Ostapenko's game, it's that she has a very weak serve, which has no effect, something different from Kontaveit, who apart from hitting hard, her serve is powerful and effective, with a lot of effect.
Ostapenko serve has improved a lot. Now it's just bad rather than awful. :p

I know throughout the tournament the logic has been respected…but Kontaveit is my pick to win 🏆. I think she’s more fluid and manage her nerve a little bit better than Sakkari in big matches . The chances are tight cuz Sakkari plays really well so I can be so wrong too. Will see.
kontaveit is doing what ideally ostapenko should be doing. hitting hard and fast but with consistency and less error

Ostapenko looks better than she ever used to, even when she won the FO. She appears to have a little more variety (only a little but still!) and she seems to be more athletic than before. Her game is slowly becoming so much better than the straight up ball bashing that you always see from her.

Idk for some reason she is really good indoors but but otherwise mediocre
The AO is an outdoor tournament, Anett is the master of indoor tennis. Mind you Maria Sakkari will be no pushover, shes a fighter through and through, it will be a fantastic match if both plays are at their peak. Heres hoping.

Great win for Anett - but who the hell edited this video? From what is shown it looks like Ostepenko blew her off the court - most of the winners shown are her's- more accuracy & fairness in video editing please WTA.
Always liked her style…. She’s a slam winner. Just needs a bit of time. Ostapenko will win a slam one day. And I think it’ll be sooner rather than later. If she can just control her emotions.
