I’ll never understand why anyone uses “When September Ends” as a wedding song. It’s as if no one listens to the lyrics.

because why not, its a super emotional song and powerful song and if the person likes it and has a connection to it why not have it play on the happiest day of there life, just because the song has depressing connotations doesn't mean its sad for everyone and cant enjoy it at there happiest time.
Anyone who uses a Green Day song for its wedding has bad taste and the marriage will probably end in divorce

Hey… can’t wait to share the information about loosing a nut sack with my son. He loves Green Day almost as much as I do, poor kid turned 16 and 3 days later wound up in the ER and ended up getting his left testicle removed. It might help him feel better about it!

They really had quite a lot of personal issues. I'm happy for Mike that his wife recovered, that he stood by her side and supported her! Everyone has had a full range of personal problems throughout their life, but it seems to me that they are successfully overcoming them. I hope to grow old to their songs and future albums.

Clickbait-O-Rama. There's nothing tragic about their story. Yes, like everyone, they have suffered loss and issues and challenges in their personal lives. I would say this is true of everyone on the planet. All these youtube channels about the "the tragic life of....." are ridiculous.
I agree. I just scrolled through all the parts - it's just all the misfortunes that happened in their lives, leaving out all the many good parts. I mean, everyone has experienced these types of problems at least once in their lives.

Billie Joe, after 5 years of sobriety, started drinking again in 2018. He thought he could now drink like a normal person, but that didn´t go as planned. In the summer of 2022, when they were touring Europe, he was already a lot into drinking agin and got scared that he would reach the same stage soon as before 2013. So he sobered up once more in the course of 2023 and is completely sober/clean again since the new record Saviors. Much respect to his strength, even at over 50!

You either die a hero, or live long enough to become a villain. It’s hilarious when punk bands sell out. It’s like when “rage against the machine” became “obey the machine”.
If you listen to their earlier songs, there wasn't much raging against the machine. They were all very personal and not really anti-establishment/government/corporation. It's only a few albums after they signed on to a major label that they got more political (around the Warning era). That being said, I think Green Day has gone beyond punk anyway, which is great because artists who don't change are boring. Imagine a painter painting the exact same image over and over again. Clinging to any image or subculture (including punk) just for the sake of keeping the label is pretty backwards-and doesn't sound punk at all.

They wrote music about it that the rest of us can relate to. Just like the millions of other bands that have done the same thing. Music is therapy. It's a message, connection. Some people dedicate their lives and talent to helping people through rough times and others sit on the internet and bitch about it.
I was given a choice of a concert ticket for Greenday or Pink Floyd, I choose Pink Floyd, and never had any regrets..
There is NO comparison to those two bands. Not even in the same universe... so you chose well.
